12/4/12 4 2 1 3 He may be knowledgeable, but does not know how to share his knowledge. I like when doctors are brief, but he falls into a different category! reads few lines to you and ignores any other qns you may have. His office is not a place for little babies.. I was asked to undress my 3 mo old on my lap an keep her undressed. Only when I aksed I was told that he is planing to do skin tests on her, shouldn't I agree to it first? I believe his nurse is the person that keeps ppl comming back. Try Dr Kerr instead.  Respond

12/4/11 5 5 5 5 I credit Dr. Ham Pong for saving my sons life, over 15 years ago. When I left his office I was terrified that I would lose my son to his food allergies, and that I needed to be educated Immediately. He did just that! Dr. Ham Pong did his job. On another note, he truly has horrible bed side manner, but without his knowledge I would not have my son. Thank you Dr. Hampong. Shelly  Respond

10/7/11 5 5 5 5 I found Dr. Ham Pong to be very thorough and to-the-point. He is definitely an expert in his field. Within a few minutes, he had diagnosed my daughter's allergies and given us tips to clear up her eczema as well as provide advice as to which ingredients to avoid when buying her sunscreen. We did everything he said and have been symptom-free ever since. Would highly recommend this doctor.  Respond

4/19/11 4 5 3 5 He knows his stuff, but is very abrupt with little bed-side manner. I tried explaining my problems to him but he continuously cut me off. When I entered his room, he was annoyed right off the bat (and told me so) because I was carrying my jacket and did not hang it up before entering his office. He wanted 1 word answers to his questions, and will not let you elaborate. BUT, he was very efficient and got to the route of my problems. He is very knowledgeable, but is abrupt and rude at times. It also took me 6 months to get an appointment with him (his office is very busy).  Respond

10/16/10 5 5 5 5 Dr. Ham Pong is a very knowledgeable allergist. We were lucky to be referred to him by after our son, then 2 years old, had an anaphylactic shock. He has always been helpful and quickly responds to our questions and goes directly to the point. He sees an incredible amount of patients so he needs to get going as fast as he can, but he is very efficient. I think before you go to see him your family should be well prepared with the most important questions, statistics of your child allergies, asthma episodes, when, how it happens, how the child reacted, how did you treat it, etc, have a medical journal for your child and write every thing down, then do a Summary, so when you go and see Dr. Ham Pong you'll have SPECIFIC ANSWERS to his questions and not vague ones. This will help him to evaluate your child's condition better. It's hard to get an appointment to see him, so get the most out of your visit.  Respond

6/23/10 5 5 5 5 Dr. Ham Pong is an exceptional doctor. He is considered a leading expert in his field. He diagnosed and treated a very severe set of allergies in my son when he was a toddler. He had severe eczema, and had several allergies. Dr. HP taught us how to care for the eczema, how to live with allergies. He does not have time for small talk and he stays focussed on the issues. Some people might think this is poor bedside manner, but I don't mind... he is an EXCELLENT doctor.  Respond

4/26/10 5 2 1 2 I went to see Dr Hampong and he has the absolute worst bedside manner I've ever seen and I work in the Medical field. He left the room multiple times without a word, refused to find out whatelse I was allergic to, because the skin prick test showed nothing. Waste of waiting for weeks and accomplished nothing from the appointment and he also did not even say anything when the appointment ended and I wasn't sure if he'd come back.. but he didn't.. STUNNED!!!!  Respond

9/2/09 5 5 5 5 This was the best Allergist I have ever seen. I've been diagnosed with anaphylactic allergies my whole life (21 years), and Dr. Ham Pong was the most knowledgable, helpful, and empathetic allergist. I was once told by a 75 yr old doctor in sudbury, on that i was the worst patient he has ever met (in terms of allergy severity), and then was not careful enough during the skin test. I ended up having an anaphylactic reaction following the test. Dr. Ham Pong told me in a much nicer manner that it is important to understand the severity, but encouraged me and reassured me. He also administered blood tests instead of skin tests (to avoid a reaction), and gave me plenty of resources (like terminology and synonyms of peanuts and nuts, non-food items containing nuts, etc). I am looknig forward to my next visit with him!  Respond

7/26/09 3 4 4 5 Very much an expert in his field but has very little bed side manner; When my wife and I were giving a history on our sons milk allergy he just turned around and left the room while we were in mid sentence without acknowledging us in anyway. Apparently he got all the information he needed ;| Very knowledgeable and very well respected and I would see him again in an instant; But his behavior can border on rude; This can be trying for parents with very young children.  Respond

6/15/09 5 5 5 5 I consider Dr Ham Pong a world expert on pediatric allergies, we were extremely fortunate to have access to him. We took our 15-month old for allergy testing (after our family dr said it was impossible until age 4!) and confirmed he had a peanut allergy. He trained us on epi-pens and provided us a LOT of useful information about allergies and asthma (which our son developed a year or so later). Best of all was the testing technique he uses on small children, the "spiders", instead of the painful "scratch test" which would be impossible to administer thoroughly to a toddler. When I asked how come he uses those and others don't, he said it's because they're "expensive". This is one indication that he really cares about doing the best he can at helping children & their families deal with asthma & allergies. The whole office is run efficiently and professionally. I highly recommend this Dr.  Respond

5/8/09 5 5 5 5 I brought in my 5yr old son to see him in regards to breathing problems and Dr. Ham Pong was brilliant in diagnosing him and explaining to both myself and my son all the steps that he was doing and what the results and outcomes were. I recommend him to anyone who needs to see an incredible dr./allergist.  Respond

2/7/09 4 5 5 5 I see people with negative comments here on this dr's attitude. We have been to see him for our two children. He was on time, has a dry sense of humour we appreciated. He did the testing and gave helpful information in a direct, efficient manner. He does not sit and chat and I think that is how he stays on time.  Respond

1/14/09 5 5 1 3 He knows his stuff, but he has the worst bedside manner I have ever seen. He provides a lot of information yet gets impatient if you ask questions. I don't find him to be good with kids.  Respond

12/13/08 4 2 1 2 He is the worst allergist I have ever met. He was rude, mean and impatient. Unwilling to help and find out problems of his patient (my son). All he could do is skin test. If the result is negative, then he would kick you out of the door without any further help.  Respond

11/13/08 4 4 1 1 I found this was the worst doctor ever. My doctor only recommended him because I could get in sooner. I found him so rude. I found out my son has a Peanut allergy and when I tried to ask questions he kept telling me I wasn't listening. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. His nurse was very kind and sympathetic.  Respond

2/6/08 5 5 5 5 Dr. A. Ham Pong is by far a very competent Allergist/doctor. My family and I have been his patients for over ten years. Our consults were precise and professional. I would recommend him to anyone I know as he is compassionate, acknowledgeable, understanding and patient. He is a great role model and the definition of a great physician.  Respond

4/10/07 5 5 5 This happened over 25 years ago but Dr. Ham Pong saved my daughter's life. She was so ill, her paediatrician was completely useless but when we found Dr. Ham Pong he correctly diagnosed asthma, identified right away what was causing her breathing problems and treated her very successfully. She went on to grow up and become a beautiful highly intelligent and very educated young woman. I remember him as extremely but I mean extremely competent and very quick to diagnose as he is so knowledgeable.  Respond
