25/03/13 5 5 5 5 Found Dr Warshawski to be unbelievably helpful and responsive. Have heard from many other sources, including several other physicians, that he is absolutely the top rated ENT in Calgary. Based on my experience I totally concur. After 12 years of unremitting sinusitis, surgery and ear problems I believe that Dr Warshawski's therapeutic strategies and recommendations will greatly improve the quality of my life. His staff were also remarkably caring, helpful and responsive. Waiting time was never any longer than I have experienced in other physician's offices. When you go to the best you expect him to be busy.I could not recommend Dr Warshawski or his staff any higher, and if I could I would!  Respond

13/03/12 5 4 5 5 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It was amazing how fast things happened and Dr. Warshawski was very helpful with all of my questions. He reassured me of what I had and what kind it was. He explained to me what he was going to do and what I might expect. I had to wait a little bit in his office and I was about 3 hours late going in for surgery. Everything after the surgery went good and my parathyrodial glands were in good condition after the surgery. The day I was supposed to have my stitches out he had a surgery at another hospital but he made it back to the office to see me and one other patient. Overall he was a great doctor and was very experienced. He was very knowledgable.  Respond

05/08/11 4 4 5 5 LOVED HIM!!! Went to see Dr.Warshawski with a diagnosis of Thyroid cancer. He was very knowledgable, witty, straight to the point. He told me exactly what I needed to hear good and bad. He gave me his strong professional reccomendation on how he thought I should proceed with my illness with out a million options to stress out over. He was a fantastic surgeon I have a very small clean scar. He had wonderful bedside manner before I went into surgery and came to visit me in recovery to update me. I found him charming, intelligent, witty, personable and generally just a lovely guy. I did NOT at any time find him arrogant, egotistical, rude or unprofessional...perhaps the people who thought this need to lighten up! He was great to deal with through my ordeal and feel nothing but gratitude that I had him as my doctor.  Respond

06/06/10 5 3 5 5 He is very skilled and knowledgeable; he is forthright, tells you like it is; he has a dry sense of humour; my surgery and recovery went as he advised it would; no surpises; the nurses on the hospital ward spoke very favourably about him--he acres about his patients. I was very happy my family doctor referred me to Dr. Warshawski; be prepared to spend time in the waiting room when you go in for appointments.  Respond

06/12/09 4 4 5 5 I was referred to Dr. Warshawski to correct a deviated septum from an injury that had triggered sleep apnea. As warned by my GP, it took a bit to get in to see him, and he was blunt and to the point. He doesn't beat around the bush, he gets right to the point. He performed a Septoplasty on me in the summer which was so successful it ended the sleep apnea. At my post-op apptmt, I requested a Tonsillectomy as I should have had my tonsils out as a child, but it never happened. He warned it would be the worst pain in my life. Pain was horrible, but worth it. Can ask him any question and he will answer. Listen to his advice, not what junk you're told by the media and you'll be fine. Incredible bedside as long as you realize he's not there to hold your hand. He's got a dry sense of humor, which can be interesting. Overall, Great doctor. Very knowledgeable and talented. Blunt and to the point. Knows his stuff! Wish he did children still. Receptionist is a sweetheart and very accommodating!  Respond

15/10/09 4 1 5 5 I was told by my endocrinologist that Dr. Warshawski was the best thyroid surgeon in Calgary and that although it might take me a while to get in to see him, it is well worth it. He did a thyroid lobectomy on me in April 2009 and was absolutely fantastic from my first consultation with him, through my surgery, and following up. He lets you know what the risks are and what to expect, is very thorough, positive and reassuring. I appreciate his upfront attitude and his sense of humour throughout all of the encounters I have had with him. Yes, he is often far behind in his appointments and I would recommend bringing work to do while you wait (I waited for 1.5 hours to get stitches removed) but his expertise is something that I could not have done without. All in all, from first consult to surgery the wait was only 6 weeks, which was awesome seeing as it took me 4 months of waiting for a referral. My tip: book in the morning, he's less likely to be SUPER far behind :)  Respond

17/06/09 2 2 1 1 Dr. W. is extremely rude and arrogant. He made fun of my condition and even suggested that my mother must have hit me with a 2x4! This is not humor..it is bad doctoring. I felt degraded. He did nothing to help me and I still have my condition which my GP is now dealing with. I would not go to him again.  Respond

08/06/09 5 5 5 5 Dr. W will be removing my thyroid and tumours in near future. I found him to be EXTEMELY caring and compassionate with a great sence of humour. I would highly recommend him and cannot understand some of the negative comments about him from others. I have never seen another Dr. who gave me so much useful information in one visit.  Respond

09/04/09 3 3 5 5 I moved to Calgary twelve year ago and Dr Warshaski was recommended to me by my pervious Ear Specialist, I have had nothing but good things to say about him and he has ben very helpful to me. Yes there is sometimes a wait, but no different than going to any other clinic in Calgary. I now have appointment twice a year and have found him to be very pleasant on every visit and would recommend him to any patient. These people that have all the negative comments about this Doctor maybe need to consider their own behaviour, you often get what you give, so think about that and conider your attudude when dealing with these dedicated Physicians. A Satisfied Patient!!  Respond

23/03/09 4 3 5 5 I am shocked by some of the negative postings. Dr. Warshawski performed a hyperparathyroidectomy and I have nothing butgreat things to say about him. His bedside manner was awesome - he came in on a Saturday morning after a soccer practice to see how I was doing the day after my surgery. As for punctuality, I have come to expect in our medical system that there are delays. I waited over an hour for him one morning, but I know that he usually goes to the hospital before he comes in and gets delayed there. I highly recommend him  Respond

07/03/09 1 1 1 1 This man was unbelievably rude, derisive, insulting and . The wait time was entirely inexcusable and very unprofessional. After waiting nearly 3 months for an appointment, I was undeniably stunned that my "appointment" was at a consecutive time as 5 other paitents. I then sat in the waiting room with 9 other people for a further hour and 45 minutes before seeing this doctor for a total of 10 minutes, while being treated to the most rude and inexscusable derision and arrogance I have ever encountered in the medical field. He did nothing to address my concerns nor give me any indication that he could be of any help to me. I will not be going back. I sincerely hope that this "doctor" does something to improve his entirely non-existent "beside manner."  See Responses

21/02/09 4 1 3 5 I can't complain about my visit to his office the first time, he sent me for surgery to remove a lump attached to my thyroid, on my surgery date he was an hour late (I was the first appointment that morning). They had wheeled me into the surgery room and I laid there terrified (first surgery in my life) while the nurses and anesthetist calmed me down, he finally showed up drew a line across my neck which really freaked me out and then the anesthetist put me to sleep right away thank heavens. After the surgery his bedside manner was great, he showed real concern about me and made sure I was okay, same goes for my follow-up appointment (which someone forgot to make, I had to call and ask when I could come in because I had a neck full of stitches that I wanted out). Not sure whose fault that would be, him or the receptionist. Not sure what to rate him really - he had pros and cons I guess!  Respond

23/01/09 1 1 1 2 This doctor is extremly arrogant and self absorbed. He made rude and thoughtless comments and was inaccurate in his assessment and ability to place me appropriatley in the wait list for surgery. His staff is exatly the same, in fact the first time I called, using a number given to my by my specalist she yelled at me and was rude beyond belief. This thoughless, uncaring rude behaviour was consistant from the whole office in every situaion I had with them. Do NOT go to this doctor. In my case it worked out for the best, and I ended up going to a much better surgeon in BC, he was not only polite and caring, but far more skilled at thyroid surgery and was able to perform the surgery in under and hour and therefore I did not have to stay in the hospital over night. Find anothoer option and especially if you need thyroid surgery go elsewhere!!  Respond

29/12/08 1 3 2 3 I was led to his office for our first consultation. He entered the room, picked up a chart and starting reading it to himself. He completely ignored me as many minutes passed. WFinally he looked up, but was then abrupt, unfriendly and rude to me. Made innappropriate comments to me while examining me. A disgustingly rude and arrogant person in general. I never went back.  Respond

05/08/08 3 1 1 3 Our family doctor referred my son to him about 6 years ago when my son's tonsils swelled up every winter. Family doctor said he may need to have them removed. After waiting over two hours in the waiting room, we waited another 30 in the exam room. Because we saw him in the summer, the tonsils were not swollen. He was extremely rude and arrogant. When I mentioned my doctor had said my son may need surgery, he accused me of being a parent who insisted on unneeded surgery for their child. He wouldn't believe me when I said that the tonsils swelled up to the point that my son had trouble eating. I left and told my family doctor to never refer any of my family members to him again. When I mentioned this to my sister, she laughed and said this was the very rude doctor she had told me about a few months earlier. He is supposed to be very good, and I guess this lets him get away with a lot, but I would never recommend him to anyone.  Respond

27/06/08 3 3 5 5 Dr. Warshawski performed a full thyroidectamy on me two years ago. He was extremely helpful, informed me of all the complications and walked me though the procedures along the way. He also prepared me of the long term effects post surgery and how my body would react with the change. Great sense of humor and great bed side manner. He was more knowledgeable of thyroid conditions than my Endocrinologist. I like Joe. I would recommend him to anyone. Did a fantastic job my neck.  Respond

12/03/08 5 4 5 5 Dr. Warshawski has performed 3 surgeries on my sinuses (nasal polyps) over the past 15 years and all have been highly successful. Yes, he's to the point which some may find offensive, but i prefer the straight-up, rather than being coddled. He gets the job done.  Respond

07/02/08 3 3 1 1 Condescending, rude, offensive and arrogant in manner and care.Have never left a medical office feeling angry and for hours before and since his.I have since spoken to at least three other people who had gone to him and had the same experience. They could not believe how rude he was to them and needed to vent once his name came up, or they brought it up and I shared too.Doesn't hold a candle to his predecessor Dr. Campbell, who I was lucky enough to have had the experience to see when he was in Calgary.Professional and actually addressed the medical concerns rather than making offending comments in place of such. There is no reason or excuse for anyone to do so, especially in a prefessional setting. One of my friends who has had chronic ear infections for years received nothing but sarcastic and unhelpful comments from him too. Many years later we met and shared our disbelief of his conduct. I've continued to have issues too and would not go back.  Respond

23/06/07 1 1 1 Had an appointment for 11:00. At 12:00 because the doctor was 'running late' and had other commitments in the afternoon, I was told to rebook (earliest appointment available was a month away)even though the reason for the visit was serious side effects with a medication he prescribed for me. No apology was given. Thoroughly unprofessional and seems to have a total disregard for patients. Would never recommend.  See Responses

18/04/07 2 1 4 Absolutely rude and disrespectful to others! Needed to see a tonsil bleed, after his surgery and he acted as if he was insulted he had to deal with it in Emergency at ACH. Would not let my worst enemy send their child to him! Very disappointing to see in a Professional!  Respond

11/04/07 3 5 5 Took care of my son during his "tubal" in his ears when he was 2 then his tonsillectomy when he was 6. Both times found him to be absolutely fantastic. Listens, talks to the kids, very informative and knowledgeable. Good looking too which is never a bad thing!  Respond
