Why did Dr. Naimark remove my son Rob's 3 BP meds right after he had a Juvenile Diabetic Renouble Transplant at Sunnybrook? He also said my son had to find another GP to do followup, but he still needed Dr, Naimark! What kind of docotor does that? Why was Rob not referred to Transplant Rehab? Why was someone who couldn't even speak English, sent to our home to administer intravenous Ciprofloxacin, prescribed by an unknown doctor at Sunnybrook and linked to aortic aneurysm? My son's BP went up to 188! He suffered an aortic aneurysm! These tears, called aortic dissections, or ruptures of an aortic aneurysm can lead to dangerous bleeding or even death. The Neurologist at Sunnybrook shuffled his gurney over beisde the wall and said,"You have to let him go! We can do nothing!" Why no attempt to even offer surgery or help for my son? Only thing that made him sent him up to Critical Care, was my threat to call his rich Aunt, who donated millions to Sunnybrook! They never sent a doctor to speak with us once, only a meeting to demand, that we take him off life support and let him die! My son had sat up to say 'I love you!" He was fighting to life!
We have regular visits with Doctor Naimark for chronic kidney failure. At every visit starting with the the initial visit, we have been highly impressed with his thoroughness, competence, care and even his advice. His staff, especially Ms. Natalie Wright is equally impressive. We are very fortunate to be under their care.
Based on other reviews and his research, thought he would be good but i was wrong. He just told me it is the law that i take my elderly disabled mom to an in-person visit with hom, never explaining why, what he is going yo do that i cant do at home such as taking her bp like i have been doing for 40 years, he is unprepared for his video appointment, asking me where us the latest creatinine result, i told him that was his requisition that i handed to lifelabs, so he forgot. Whenever i had a question such as my mothers excessive urine output or uti, he said he doesnt manage that, he also never leys me speak, when i attempt to ask a question then he interrupts by saying he speak. So i am not allowed to speak. Its his way or the highway. By the way cpso guidelines stae it is physician discretion, Not Law, to have in patient visit and that is usually when you do biopsies etc, this did not apply to my mom, he is quick to prescribe fir an afib 92 yr old disabled patient, when asking about side effects of the unnamed drug he wants to prescribe, he doesnt know and he wont disclose the name of the bp drug. My moms bp varies and can be as low as 84/94 or 117/ 74, he does not know how to interact and communicate with patients or family, dont trust him especially when he tells me its the law that he see my mom inperson which is false, i think he gets paid more for inperson visit rather than zoom, we already see the cardio in person and my mom cant sit in a car for long periods, i lose jobs because these nonsense inperson visits, been doing this for 40 years, who pays me
Dr. Naimark is one of those rare doctors/scientists who combines friendliness with absolute thoroughness and is never too busy to respond very promptly (in my experience immediately) to any query, no matter how foolish you think it is. Also, unusually, his receptionist and front desk staff are not aloof and do not ever give you the feeling when you forget some instruction or need a copy of a prescription that they are just too busy to help. I find this remarkable in people who themselves are relatively young and have not yet experienced the fear of a condition like chronic kidney disease.
Excellent doctor...amazing human being...Sunnybrook is lucky to have him
Excellent Doctor and also, not less important, nice personality.😀👍🏽
Dr. Naimark cared for my mother when she was admitted to Sunnybrook with renal (kidney) failure. The rest of the medical team was relatively ineffective, but Dr. Naimark was incredibly engaged to both find out what was causing my mother's kidney failure and to clearly explain to both her and our family the plan he had for testing while she was an admitted patient at Sunnybrook. When Dr. Naimark was not there, things would happen like my mom was wheeled down for surgery or tests meant for other patients - luckily my mom knew the program from his clear communication that she stopped those procedures not meant for her. It's difficult as an elderly patient dealing with pain and uncertainty. Dr. Naimark kept engaged when the other doctors did not and figured out my mom's problem, took action to manage it, and my mom now is back to leading a healthy life without the need for dialysis etc. She sees him regularly in his nephrology clinic and I cannot say enough or recommend Dr. Naimark enough. He is in a class of his own, and has the most approachable, understanding, and compassionate manner/attitude of any doctor we've ever encountered. Well done Dr. David Naimark!
I have a very lengthy list of illnesses and an equal number of Specialists, but there is no one in my mind, or anyone else's who I have discussed Dr. Naimark with who comes anyone even close to his respect for each of his patience, as well as his compassion for all of us. He goes way above and beyond the call of duty, and treats you as good if not better than one of your own family members. Better you should never require a Nephrologist, but if you ever do, get your Doctor to send a referral to Dr. Naimark. There are times the wait time is a little much, but once you meet him and he discusses your issues with you, you totally forget about the time you had to wait. He will answer any and all of your questions, or if it is not in his area of expertise, he will direct you to the right person to speak to. If Gold medals were given to Doctors, Dr. Naimark would be first to get one. A Prince of a Man, who should be duplicated in every area of Medicine. Number ONE!!!
Just incredibly passionate about providing top level care, in taking the time to ensure his patients and their families understand the diagnosis and next steps, and in being very deliberate and effective in making medical decisions. Ontario would be a much better health jurisdiction with more doctors like Dr. David Naimark!
I searched for Dr. Naimark, when my family physician had no nephrologist to recommend, and when my then endocrinologist poorly controlled her diagnosis of hypercalciuria (through diuretics), along with her prescribed thyroxin overdose. Needless to say, I felt dreadful -- for years. Dr. Naimark and staff at Sunnybrook Hospital were wonderful in discovering a potassium depletion, before educating me regarding the appropriate low-oxalate diet. It took about another year to get out of the poor endocrinological hands I was in, and to find a more careful family physician who might actually read lab reports and guide me. It also took fine-tuning from the very thorough low oxalate diet from the U.Pittsburgh Med Ctr. and adding a little citrus to my water. Dr. Naimark was instrumental in getting the ball rolling, and helping me reverse the years of earlier poor care.
