23/01/11 5 4 5 5 This man is the most compassionate and caring doctor I have ever experienced during my cancer experience. I was originally diagnosed in 2000 and thanks to this angel I'm am healthy and happy. I am at stage 4 but because of Dr. G's treatment protocols I'm still kicking and plan to be for many more years. Did I mention that he's handsome too!  Respond

30/12/10 5 4 3 3 I'm a patient of Dr. Gertler. I have had a recurrence of breast cancer and was referred to him recently. He suggested hormonal therapy. Although he seems like a pleasant enough person, I have not been given the impression that he cares about me whatsoever. I have seen him twice, and both times asked him simple questions, 2 to be exact, and he responded sarcastically. I wanted to compare my blood test results before and after Zoladex, and his response was, "sounds like somebody is studying to be a blood specialist". The other question I asked he responded that it sounds like someone has been doing some reading. I am a librarian and am naturally an analytical person. I feel I have the right to have my questions answered without being condescended to. Cancer is scary enough without being treated like an idiot by your oncologist!  Respond

24/02/10 5 5 5 5 Dr. Gertler was my mother's oncologist and I remember how his supportive, compassionate, realistic and respectful approach alleviated stress, anxiety, fear and grief. Almost 11 years later, I still remember this well.  Respond

23/01/10 1 3 1 1 My mother has a brain tumor. She was diagnosed in 1997, and had an MRI every six months to determine if there was regrowth. Dr Gertler was unable to see that her MRIs showed very clear regrowth. My mother has not been a patient of Gertler's for 2 months, and is in a hospice with weeks to live, and his office is still calling us to book appointments. Thanks a lot, Gerlter.  Respond

26/10/09 4 4 5 5 Dr. Gertler is a lovely, smart, compassionate doctor. I feel very fortunate that he is my oncologist. I have metastatic breast cancer and I give him credit for knowing how to treat me. We agree that I have had "spectacular results." He also keeps up with cutting edge research and never makes his patients feel rushed.  Respond

05/08/09 5 5 5 5 Dr Gertler was my oncologist in 2000 when I suffered from breast cancer. I am happy to see that he has the highest of ratings because he is not only a top doctor, but a very top human being. I was a relatively well-informed patient who considered very carefully various treatments options and Dr Gertler was always very supportive of my approach to my treatment. Nine years ago, he helped me decide to keep my breast, against contrary medical advice, by helping me understand that mastectomy is a local treatment that does not impact systemic impact. He supported me when I was going through sheer hell, making no decisions for me, but fully supporting me with his expertise expressed in the most respectful way. The same happened when I had to decide after 5 years of Tamoxifen if I would go through 5 years of Femara. If I ever suffer a cancer recurrence- God forbid!- I would again put my full confidence in Dr. Gertler.  Respond

29/05/09 5 5 5 5 29/5/09 I am currently a patient of Dr. Stan Gertler and concur with the positive ratings written by previous patients. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Feb./08. The cancer left my breast and spread to my femor bones and several other areas throughout my body. To date Dr. Gertler's treatment has been very thorough and accurate. Whatever test/treatment is necessary is acted upon immediately - he truly cares about each of his patients and you feel like you really matter to him and are not just a number. His staff are also very caring and he can be proud of them. I am afraid of what the future holds for me and how long I have but I know I am in good hands and will be well looked after. My family and friends also think highly of Dr. Gertler - his job is not an easy one to face daily and we are fortunate to have him. Laura-Lee  Respond

05/06/07 4 5 5 Dr. Gertler is my oncologist. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in January 2006 and since the first visit I had with Dr. Gertler, I found him to be extremely compassionate, caring, encouraging, gentle and knowledgeable. He never rushes his patients, responds quickly if I have a problem, rushes to have further tests done if he feels it necessary and is a great human being. He and so many others like him at the ORCC are truly outstanding medical professionals.  Respond

29/04/07 5 5 5 It takes a special person to devote their career to helping people with cancer and Dr Gertler is no exception.I began the journey as a very sick, angry and frightened patient and I emerged healthy, with a new outlook on life. Dr. Gertler cared for me and guided me through Chemo with not only medication but encouragement and reassurance that I was going to be fine. He listened to my family and myself and never rushed through my appointments. My current health I attribute to the excellent care I received from Dr. Gertler and the ORCC, I will be forever grateful. A truly gifted and skilled doctor not only treats the disease but also the person attached to that disease. Dr. Gertler is truly one of these doctors and we are truly blessed.  Respond

04/04/07 5 5 5 I owe a great amount of Gratitude to Dr.Gertler, when my Mother,a Patient of his was in his care for Lung Cancer, he gave her the time and attention and Respect that she has never known before in any other Doctor she has ever been to, I always accompanied her to her app'ts and I was so impressed with the care and intervention he provided her, he was upfront and honest and spoke from his heart like ALL Cancer Specialist/specialist in General should. When it came the time to tell my Dearly Departed Mother that she has gone as far as she can with her Cancer Treatment, he did so with the upmost respect and care, if anyone is searching for a REAL compassionate Oncologist, look up Dr.Gertler, he has patient office hours at both General and Civic Campus Hospitals...Outstanding Human Being!
