28/06/14 2 2 3 3 This doctor likes to talk, and talk. Not too many times did she actually listen to what I was saying; and if she did, she was quick to minimize it. Once I lent a listening hear to her, and after she was finished blabbing for a good 20 minutes, she waved her hand, and said to me, "you can go now." Like I was a little child! That's what I got for listening to her blab about her problems, and I even gave positive comments to her. But when she waved her hand at me (like I was a slave that she was dismissing), it was enough for me to say to her "I don't think so." She needs to work on her people skills a lot!!!  Respond

24/04/14 1 2 1 1 Worst experience ever. You know it's going to be terrible when the doctor interrupts constantly after asking a question to tell You how you're feeling or what is wrong. Seriously they don't teach human interaction in school, do you not spend time with anyone else? I just cannot believe she's gone through life treating people the way she does. Obviously there's a competence in medicine but in absolutely no other way could I sense any. I'd pay for "black market medicine" before going back to her. As far as surgery goes It cannot be proven but by account of 2 other doctors the simple procedure that was preformed caused a huge medical issue that lasted for months with the follow up of at least another surgery to correct. During the 2nd consult with her she actually made unprofessional comments on the other ENTs surgery they preformed on me. All I could think was "really cause you're the likely cause of this scar" very delusional. Zero self awareness. RUN!  Respond

13/01/14 2 5 3 2 I came in for a visible problem in my throat and had enough of an upsetting experience to make me want to create an account here to leave a comment! When I explained my issue to Dr. Hui the first thing she said is "who told you this"? I thought Dr. Hui was very condescending and incredibly full of herself and defensive. She gave me a different diagnostic for the same problem (which hasn't really changed) five years ago. I have great respect for the amount of schooling and perseverance it takes to become a specialist but somehow she still felt the need to put her patient down in a very petty way. I hope her surgery skills are better than her people and human skills.  Respond

25/11/12 5 5 5 5 I was initially skeptical meeting Dr Hui for the first time; certainly the ten minutes I spent in the office before announcing the tonsils would have to go did not help. However... Dr Hui got straight to the point and didn't mess around. She told me very bluntly exactly what would be happening, the fact I'd be in terrible amounts of pain (very true!) and all the bits I needed to know post-op care. After the surgery she made a stop over at my hospital bed to review post-op care and see how I was doing. She doesn't mince words; people see that as cold or unfeeling but I appreciate it. Just tell me how it is, doc. Used a few big words and explained each one, asked if I had questions. Quick, efficient, and maybe some people feel like they're just a number but for me, it was highly appreciated. My time is just as valuable as her time; cut to the chase. And she did. Would recommend!

15/04/12 5 5 5 5 I have been a patient with Dr. Hui for over 5 years now and to say that I really appreciate her being part of my care group is truly an understatement. She has help me immensely when it comes to my recovery from my illness and I'm extremely grateful for everyday I get. I would highly recommend Dr. Hui to anyone needing her expertise and skill sets as it pertains to her specialty of ENT. Always on time and always clarifies why things need to be done in a certain way. For this she has my ultimate respect. My family as well really appreciates every thing that she has done for me and recently she has helped my father as well. My father also has the same feelings as I have outlined as well. Let there truly be no doubt that my family and myself feel that Dr. Anita Hui is a fine ENT doctor and for that she deserves recognition and praise as she is dedicated and a professional to her field. Time and time again. Thanks for reading and thank you for your time.  Respond

23/12/11 5 5 5 5 Dr. Hui removed both me and my little sister's tonsils and adenoids. She was very friendly and polite. Right before my sister's surgery we told her about how my sister had something stuck in her ear, she got us to sign a paper and later came to us with the object she had in her ear in a sealed container!! She was kind enough to remove the object, even though it wasn't originally planned. Very professional and kind, I highly recommend seeing her :)  Respond

10/11/11 2 2 1 1 I waited over 6 months to see this Doctor. I was not impressed at all and will not return.I was shocked that she doubted my symptoms as if I made everything up. She was rude and made me feel like I was bothering her. She is cold, and socially inept.  Respond

24/08/11 5 4 5 5 Absolutely AMAZING Dr. made every step of the process easy and re-assuring (I dealt with her for both a nose and a throat issues from initial consultation through surgery to post-op appointments). Dr. Hui was very thorough answering all my questions and making sure to look at anything else that would be a cause or affect for my sever tonsilitis, including a second follow up appointment that she felt was necessary to assess my recovery post surgery. I would definitely recommend her to anyone suffering any Ear, nose and/or throat issues.  Respond

15/07/11 2 1 1 1 This doctor is so unprofessional, rude and very unapproachable. I can relate what previous patients poor rating of her because I experienced myself her arrogance and no professional conduct. She seem to be so grouchy and does not have ability to listen and at least give information about the patient's medical concern. In general, I found her a poor medical specialist. I am definitely not recommending her to anyone and neither will I go back to her again for my medical concern. I was so disappointed and disgusted such a waste of my time to think that I waited 6 months for this appointment with her.  Respond

08/07/11 1 1 1 1 Totally unprofessional and disgusted by this "HUI" doctor. A very uncompassionate specialist - COLD BLOODED in fact. How she treated me sister on her first meeting makes me puke. Even the paramedics that accompanied my sister over for this long awaited appointment were totally flipped by her humanness.  Respond

30/08/10 5 5 5 5 I had the good fortune of being referred to Dr. Hui by my physician. I was informed that even physicians seek Dr. hui out for their personal health issues. I found Dr. Hui to be competent, knowledgable, professional and genuine. Dr. Hui was booked solid for several months but due to the urgency of my situation she saw me early before her normal office hours.I have never felt so cared for by a pysician. I am amazed at her commitment and dedication for her patient's care. I would recommend my friends and family to Dr. Hui without hesitation. I am so grateful for all that she has done for me. Dr. Hui is an exceptional physician and a true asset to our health care system.  Respond

10/03/10 3 5 5 5 I found Dr.Hui to be very competent. She surgically removed a large nasal polyp that had hindered my breathing. She was very conscientious about the follow-up, even calling me at home to make sure I was okay. Her personality and style are quite bubbly and informal, which I enjoyed. However I can see how some people could misinterpret this, since they might expect more gravitas from their physician.  Respond

09/03/10 5 5 5 5 I have seen Dr. Hui since 2008. She was very nice and informative. She does take the time to let you knwo what she found and even shows you on the screen. She is very friendly. I don't get any negativity from her at all. I do think that at times Dr. get busy just like the rest of us. In all the times I have seen Dr. Hui busy or not she is still friendly and if you ask a question she answers. Yes I would recommend her to anyone. I believe that everyone should make their own judgements. Very Good Dr. very knowledgeable. Thanks Dr. Hui  Respond

11/02/10 1 1 1 1 I had nasal surgery by Dr. Hui for a problem she said would be corrected. As a result, it got a lot worse. I have since been to 3 other ENT's - all of which say the surgery she conducted is useless, and it was a fad at one time, but no longer used. She was extremely rude and defensive once she was faced with the problem after surgery, completely opposite to her demeanor upon pre surgery when she convinced me she would solve my problem. She will not admit to her failings (even though they were confirmed by her peers), and she was very unprofessional. I actually feared another surgery by her, so I ended up with a more experienced ENT in my next surgery. I have warned my GP to not refer her to any others. She worsened my problem and did not provide any professional solution. She is experimenting in her practice.  Respond

05/05/09 5 5 5 5 I find Dr. Hui to be an excellent physician. She is thorough, knowledgeable and caring. I trust she will do an excellent job in removing my tonsils. Keep up the good work Dr. Hui.  Respond

08/04/09 4 5 5 5 Through biopsies and determined exploration, Dr. Hui discovered my Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma early, and essentially saved my life. During this process I appreciated her thorough explanations and her consideration for myself and my family. She is very down-to-earth, she took her time, never rushed and answered all of my questions. I always felt safe in her care, as though I was the most important patient she had. She gave me every reason to have complete faith in her as my doctor. I would highly recommend her.  Respond

27/03/09 5 4 4 5 Dr. Hui did a fantastic job on my tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy earlier this week. A little high-strung, but only because she wants you to have the best experience.  Respond

24/03/09 4 5 5 5 I would like to comment on the treatment I received by Dr. Anita Hui. She is an exceptional Doctor with great attention to detail. She has performed two nose surgeries on me over the course of two years and I am so thankful to have someone who cares for the work she does and the patients she treats. If anyone is interested in a great nose, ear and throat specialist, I can only speak to the nose part and she does a great job.  Respond

19/03/09 4 5 5 5 I had the opportunity to have Dr. Hui perform surgery on me about 1 year ago. She provided me with exceptional care and was open an honest with me. I appreciate her great knowledge and her efforts to help me medically and emotionally. Her personality is very warm and inviting and open to listen to your needs. My daughter, who has been sick with sinus infections and asthma for most her life, also had surgery performed by Dr. Hui. She has her tonsils removed and has felt well ever since. Congrates to Dr. Hui for being such a wonderful physician.  Respond

18/03/09 5 5 5 5 Anita Hui is by far the best doctor I have ever been to. Her talent as a surgeon is unsurpassed. I have had several bad experiences with other surgeons but I feel completely safe and confident in her hands. Would definitely recommend her to close family and friends. Thank-you so much for my flawless nose reconstruction!!! I had very minimal bruising and discomfort--was completely healed in just under a week. When in recovery, a nurse had commented that Dr. Hui's surgeries were some of the least invasive and delicately performed. She wasn't mistaken. Thank-you again!  Respond

16/03/09 2 2 1 1 We found this doctor to be very rude and arrongant. Her manner of speaking is very abrupt. She did not take the time to explain any of her decisions about her plans for our child. She approached many of the questions we had very defensively. She may be very technically good (based on other's ratings), but I certainly will not be sending my child to her.  Respond

06/01/09 5 5 5 5 Anita and her staff were wonderful. For the last 21 years of my life I have had throat/nose infection one after another. She is very knowledgable and even though the surgery was very painful afterwards she still got the job done right.  Respond

02/12/08 5 5 5 5 Dr. Hui was thorough yet concise in her explanations. The procedure I underwent gave me amazing results. I followed Dr. Hui's advice although she gave me plenty of information to make my own informed decision. She listened to me and then gave me feedback, which helped, considerably. This is one of the best physicians I have seen, since I moved to this province, 30 years ago. As well, she is very personable. Her kindness shows through in the manner in which she deals with patients. I plan on repeat procedures, knowing that I will be in professional hands. Thanks, Dr. Hui!  Respond

05/11/08 5 3 5 5 My son was referred to Dr. Hui for his tonsils. She does talk fast and doesn't waste time, but she came and looked at his throat and decided surgery was his best option. Finally we would get the tonsils out. The wait time in the office was a little long but I think that should be expected at a specialists office. For us it was well worth the wait. His staff booked the surgery for us and explained the surgical procedure and answered all the questions we had very effectively and they were available after his surgery as well. My son had suffered a couple years with chronic tonsillitis and then mono so we were thrilled to have the surgery. Since his surgery I have recommended her to at least six other children who have had tonsil surgery with her and they would all happily recommend her to other children as well. The people who gripe about her probably gripe about everything else in their lives as well.  Respond

04/11/08 5 4 5 5 I had occasion to read the previous unflattering comments posted and went to my appointment with Dr. Hui with considerable trepidation. I am very happy to report that previous persons' issues were no where to be found. Dr. Hui projected confidence and genuine care for my current ENT issues. Her examination was thorough and her diag decisive, setting very reasonable expectations on treatment. I will say that she speaks very fast and is obviously very intelligent and capable at her profession which perhaps conflates to make her most probably adapt at serving younger patients who do not require extraneous information to accompany their diag. and treatment course. I feel very fortunate to have been referred to her by my GP. As far as the complaints for being hurried, etc. get used to it, this is Canada, doctors are rare, good ones even rarer still, and so be thankful that a doctor of this calibre comes "free" in this country. In short: Quit your vapid criticism of an undoubtable pro  Respond

15/08/08 3 2 1 1 My appointment with Dr. Hui lasted for less than five minutes. She was not interested in my condition, only in leaving as quickly as possible. I was not asked what my symptoms were or if I had any questions. She told me the options were "surgery or live with it!" She got up to leave and I started to ask questions. She answered me as though I was a child . I was definitely not impressed and would not recommend her.  Respond

26/05/08 1 1 1 1 Dr. Hui was exceptionally rude. She had terrible bed side manner. When we called to check up on our specialist appointment, we found out that she had not submitted the paperwork. When we asked to speak with her directly, she yelled at us saying that we had wasted her time and prevented her from seeing other patients. This would be an acceptable response if we did not know HOW she treated her patients. When we saw her, she looked at us for 2 minutes and then told us to go home and reschedule for an appointment 3 months later. It was incredibly frustrating and rude. I am not sure how she sleeps at night. I would not recommend her to ANYONE!!!!  Respond

01/12/07 1 1 1 1 Dr Hui did surgery on my nose to correct numerous problems , she injected a steroid into the skin of the outside of my nose during surgery (she apparently was experimenting to see if it would help reduce scar tissue inside the nose)she failed to mention that it would eat away at the skin and cartilage of my nose. After the surgery i noticed that the skin was turning blue(not a bruise) and that my nose looked like it was collapsing and it was badly infected. She said it was probably the steroid that did it and she couldn't help me now and that i should find another doctor, on top of that she made a cut on the side of the outside of my nose. I've had numerous reconstructive surgeries to rebuild my nose out of all my ear cartilage. Overall she was very unprofessional, uncaring and was way to into herself. She ruined my face and i will never look the same. I wouldn't recommend her to even my worst enemy!  Respond

20/09/07 4 5 5 5 Dr. Hui was one of the first people to take my condition seriously. She took the time to explain what was happening, why I needed surgery and what I could expect after. She was also very careful to make sure the incision was very small, and un-noticable. When I made my follow-up appointment for the biopsy results, her computers were not working but called me as soon as they were with my results, so I didn't have to go back into the office. 04/06/07 2 2 5 Dr.Hui preformed a tonsillectomy on me and did a great job. She came and talked to me after the surgery and prescribed me lots of pain medication so I wouldn't have to return to her office. She assured me if I had any problems to contact her office to get help. I had many compliacations after the surgery and needed immedicate care but little did I know her office was closed for the week! No emergency contact number for her and was told by a voice recording to go to the emergency room. I did and recieved care but was told to see Dr.Hui first thing Monday morning and again the same thing - office was closed. When I finally did get a hold of the clinic and said I was in bad shape and needed to see her as soon as possible...she was booked!!! I had to wait 2 days before getting in. When I did finally get to see her she was in shock I made it that far without stronger medication! I was 2 weeks behind regular recovery time because of the unnotified vacation time taken by Dr.Hui.  Respond

09/04/07 5 4 5 My son needed tubes in his ears and we were referred to Dr. Hui. She was nice enough and professional. It would have been nice for my son if she would have spoken to him and explained what she was doing while examining him. My husband felt like she was trying to "sell" us on the surgery. But being a female surgeon I understand she must get a lot of people questioning her ability. My son had the surgery, was finished in no time and has had no problems since.
