Overall has an incredibly high opinion of himself and just himself. Very rude and when a second opinion came in to counter his he immediately ran away and refused to see me while I was still in hospital. Would not recommend

I have had several surgeries during the past five years and have been told by the doctors that I have a "challenging anatomy." Other doctors found the procedures and surgeries challenging. Before my most recent surgery, a nurse assured me that Dr. Papp was one of the best, most experienced doctors to deal with such "challenging anatomies." The nurse was right. Dr. Papp made my most recent procedure so easy. He also has a very nice bedside manner which put me at ease before the procedure. I felt almost no side effects and am very grateful to have received such excellent care from Dr. Papp. In sum, an excellent, experienced doctor with a great bedside manner.

Well I am more than a little surprised by the negative comments about this Dr Papp. Intellect is a virtue and most of the negative comments lack it. Dr Papp is a consummate professional. Period. If you have problems with this doctor may I suggest that they stem from you, not him. Have no hesitation in recommending him.

Dr. Papp was wonderful. I had a gall some blocking my bile duct and had already had 3 procedures to try to get the stone out. I only met Dr. Papp in the OR but he patiently explained the risks and possibilities of success. I appreciated the time he took explaining everything. I’m the end his procedure worked and he was able to get the stone out. He was wonderful!

Wow! Can’t believe the negative comments. One has to wonder why it took somebody a few years after having a “ Worst Experience” to wait til Nov 2020 to rate this Doc. Sure he was late arriving, I was 1st patient of the day so who knows maybe he got stuck in traffic, regardless....?.?? Does that really matter. What matters to me MORE is that he is one of the BEST! Met Dr Papp for the 1st time today as he was the one performing my Colonoscopy.. .. I had 2 nurses caring for me, turned music on to help me relax. .. Dr Papp is absolutely AMAZING! Explained everything to me, gave me a chance to ask questions. I felt nothing, watched on the screen as he navigated with the scope. Fascinating to watch. .. Thank you again Dr Papp for treating my anxiety with such kindness & understanding.

Dr. Papp performed a colonoscopy a few years ago at Vic General. Worst experience !! First of all he was late and the nurses were waiting around. Finally he showed up and came in the room and stood in the corner staring at me and the screen that was monitoring my blood pressure etc...he didnt talk just stood there. It was weird. When he did the procedure I was in pain and he knew I was and so did the nurse assisting . He wouldn't give me more medication, I was wide awake. All the nurse assisting said was "just breathe"! Wow..really? I had abdominal discomfort for a week after and missed work one day cus I felt so lousy. I phoned his office told his receptionist what was going on and she said " oh that's strange, I had a colonoscopy and I was fine"!! Are you kidding me? I told her I wanted him to phone me to tell me what exactly he did to me to cause this problem and of course he didn't. I was told by a nurse I should have gone to emergency. It was the worst experience, from the RN assisting him , to his receptionist, to him. They were all terrible. I should have reported him and the nurse....lesson learned!! He needs to retire.

Dr. Papp saved my life after a decade of getting worse and not getting any help from other doctors.

I was sent to Dr. Papp who performed an ERCP surgical procedure. He is the worst surgeon I have ever encountered. Since I am a very ill person battling an aggressive autoimmune disease for 10 years, I've had more procedures, surgeries, and medical appointments than the average person, therefore I've seen more doctors and surgeons than most people. You can believe my observations come from experience. Here's how my surgery played out: He arrived 20 minutes late, was very surly to the OR nurses and rude to me. Even though we did not have a pre-op appointment nor had ever med, he would not explain the procedure, nor answer any of my questions. He initially withheld the sedation because he said "this patient already takes pain medication"; without knowing my medical history, the extent of my damage caused by the disease, or level of pain I live with daily. (I am on a very low dose of medications. ) Obviously he has a problem with patients who take pain medication. I was told by a nurse that I would be completely sedated throughout the entire surgery. I was only given the IV sedation after two nurses kept reminding him that my IV was not hooked up and I was moaning due to the severe pain involved in this surgery. He finally allowed the nurse to hookup the IV sedation because I was being "too focal". A veterinarian would have sedated a dog or cat for a far less serious surgery than what I was having performed. I was totally cognisant and terrified throughout most of the surgery! After surgery I was discharged without him seeing me at all. I had to travel to Victoria for the surgery, however, I was then required to stay in a hotel room for a week due to post-op complications after the surgery, as his receptionist said he does not carry a cell phone or 'check in' with her until Friday afternoon. He did not see me post-op in the hospital or return my messages regarding the post-op issues, which I thought was very unusual. He never did return my messages regarding the post-op side effects I experienced, nor did he include these events in his surgery report. If you need surgery from a Gastroenterologist I strongly suggest you see another specialist. I do not recommend Dr. Papp for any reason after my experience. I had a second follow-up surgery a month later and that surgeon was shocked to see what Dr. Papp did.
