I had spinal surgery in 1999 with Dr Schweigel. He didn't use enough staples and my 8" incision split open, scarring me horribly, 28 years later the scar tissue is still paper thin and very sensitive. I had to have an emergent surgery again in the same area in 2011, the neurosurgeon stated that the inside of my spine looked like the previous surgeon had used a chainsaw to preform it. The scar tissue and spinal leaking was noted to have been extensive and continued from 1999's surgery until it was found in 2011. I have life long pain from his inability to do his job.

Circa 1976. He butchered me (drunk?) then tried to let let the wound get gangerine so he could amputate the evidence. A nurse and myself saved my foot. I will not even begin to describe the horror of his attitude and actions, suffice it to say it affected the rest of my life in a very bad way. There was a huge coverup, it took 7 years of hell before another surgeon finally cleaned up the mess. Yet, I don't hate him - go figure.

had a arthroscopic discectomy done by this surgeon in the 80's . took 1 year to recover . had a subsequent discectomy done by Dr. Greisdale a neurosurgeon 2 years later. He cleaned up Dr. Schweigels mess in the tradition method. Was back playing competitive volleyball 3 mos. later. Would never recommend this surgeon to anyone!

I saw him a while back for a herniated disk in my back. I am a retired nurse, not the easiest of patients! He was thorough and explained everything, answered all my questions and gave me great confidence. I recommend him but if you want a psychiatrist, go elsewhere!

This dr did not listen at all. Changed my words around and left out most of my complaints in his report. He is a hired ICBC gun and if you can avoid him you must.

I'm shocked to read the comments about Dr. Schweigel. I went to the Sr. Dr. Schweigel in 2002 for an ACL tear. He knew his stuff and sent me to his son for the operation. Maybe the scar wasn't as pretty as I'd hoped but who cares...my ACL was fixed properly and I was back playing soccer in no time!! 10 years later and another ACL surgery and I WISH I'd gone back to the Schweigels. If you want therapy, see a therapist. If you want reality, no b.s. and a correct diagnosis, see these guys. If you're complaining about them, they probably saw through your crap.

I had knee surgery several years ago. The doctor explained the surgery in detail to me before it happened and told me exactly what the scars would look like. I was told that it would be arthroscopic knee surgery and that I should expect three tiny scars similar to chicken pock scars. After the surgery, I was sent home with no pain killers and no referal to physio. I was told to remove the bandage 3 days later. When I did, I did not find the three small chicken pock like scars that I was told I would have, but 9 staples. He had changed the surgery but had neglected to tell me. I would not recommend this man to a dog I didn't like.

Went to this Dr. 25 yrs ago - Was curt but knowledeable - very busy man. God bless him as was finally was properly diagnosed with rare back condition. Explained what could happen with operation - was right there before & after op. giving me confidence & assurance. Good followup. Was not ICBC claim. This is the great surgeon I dealt with many years ago. Can't believe other reports - time changes - hope the Dr. Schweigel I dealt with hasn't.
