05/07/14 5 4 5 5 Mike Hobart is one of the best people I know and an excellent doctor. His assistant Patsy can have an edge to her but as I have gotten to know her she is a very helpful and compasionate person, she can and is often missunderstood and can come on a little strong but I can tell you she has helped me a lot. They make a great team and I trust Mike aka Mike the Plumber with my life.  Respond

11/06/14 5 5 5 5 My dad was diagnosed with a gleason score of 7 about 3 months ago. Dr. Adrian Fairey works in the same office as Dr.Hobart kept my dad informed on different treatment options and provided all the information that was needed. I never met his office staff, but my dad said that they were very polite and nice. Dr.Fairey was unable to perform the Da Vinci Prostatectomy until late August as he was booked solid so Dr. Hobart took my dad on and performed the surgery yesterday. The surgery went very well at 2 hours and 45 minutes. After the anesthetic wore off, my dad was determined to get up and moving. Today he was able to walk down the hospital corridor with minimal pain thanks to the amazing skill of Dr.Hobart. I highly recommend Dr.Hobart as a surgeon for his skill, professionalism and knowledge of the robotic Da Vinci method.  Respond

07/02/13 1 1 1 1 My dad had seen this dr back in july at which time he was told everything looked fine and no need for f/u. we recieved a call months later telling us that my dad missed his ct scan that was booked for jan 11.we were never made aware of this appt and were panicking as the receptionist (who is rude, abrasive and unprofessional) told us that they "found nodules on his lung". naturally we were worried and when we called to let them know we were never made aware and if there could get a ct earlier the receptionist was no help-she blamed my dad. she was rude on the phone, told me she was getting frustrated with me.later we find out she intentionally exaggerated her story when relaying to dr.h and we found out from our Gp that dr.h discharged my dad and banned him from seeing the 13other urologist at the clinic despite meeting him only once. our GP also was told this could effect other pts of his from being seen at the clinic. This dr cares more about the needs of his receptionist than pt.  Respond

23/07/12 5 4 5 5 At my first appt.Itook one of my sons with me,Dr.H took all the time we needed, never showing even a hint of impatience. For my second appt.I took another son and Dr. H treated him with the same respect we had experienced in my first visit. He made sure that all of our questions were answered, and did not make any move to leave till they were. He, himself, even went so far as to phone me at home with some test results just to make sure I wasn't freaked out by the numbers. He is very professional and very confident in his abilities. He is not one for small talk, nor should he be, he has a job to do.I have had several conversations with his nurse and she has never come off as insolent or rude.I cannot help but think that if a person has had a problem with this office, it must be because they had a chip on their shoulder to begin with. Not only would I overwhelmingly recommend Dr. Hobart, I would advise any man to do all you can do be referred to him.  Respond

28/09/11 1 1 2 2 I live over 300 miles away from his office and his remark EVERYTIME is "come down for a CONSULT" - THAT IS WHY THEY CREATED PHONES, I'm Insulin-dependent diabetic/stone(s) in bladder/and now prostate cancer - and feel ABSOLUTELY NO TRUST for this doctor in any way. And yes his "girl" (not mentioning name P) is the MOST RUDE & ABRASIVE person I have ever met. There is confidence & and then there is arrogance - and when you answer "personal phone calls" in the middle of your appointment - be kept waiting for over and 90 min (when you were 20 min early) for the app. I need to feel trust for someone to cut into me and there is LESS than NONE right now! I wish there was a Better Business Bureau for doctors and then I would apply there. It is Very Painful to drive 13 1/2 hours (round trip)just to TALK to him for 10 min. to arrange another CONSULT later. Please tell me where are the Cracker-Jack boxes so I can get my licence to practice med in Alberta - next stop MP for Alta. Thank you.  Respond

06/05/11 3 3 1 2 HORRIBLE care, what a jerk. I can't believe how poorly he treated my wife. Then even after the surgury the problem persisted, AND she got an infection and was hospitalized. But he didn't seem to care.  Respond

02/02/11 5 4 4 5 After a prostate biopsy I was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer. In a short blunt examination Dr. Hobart advised urgent prostate surgery. We travelled to Scottsdale Arizona and got a second opinion from Dr. Ferangi the top urological surgeon at the Clinic. He advised me to return to Canada and take the surgery from a well known and respected surgeon Dr. Michael Hobart. My Davinci surgery was performed by Dr. Hobart nearly two years ago and my latest PSA is 0.0 ! Dr. Hobart Is a man of few words and will not soften his opinion. No sugar coating here. But, his skill is unquestionable. With the help of Dr. Patrick Walshes "Surviving Prostate Cancer" and Dr. Hobarts skill I am now cancer free and looking forward to the future.  Respond

19/11/10 4 5 5 5 If you need prostate surgery he's you man! I like his matter of fact consultation. He's a very busy surgeon and I feel lucky to have had him and his robotic skills. I was on my feet the day of the surgery and have been feeling fine ever since. Thank-you Dr.Hobart!  Respond

26/10/10 1 1 1 3 I was not taken seriously as a patient, i still wait to be treated. He has a staff person who treated me so poorly that once i finally said something to her, he made me change doctors. this staff person was rude, short, abrupt and unprofessional. i dreaded going to see him because of her. He charged into my room at the royal alec to scold me about things she had said. i was awaiting a procedure that day. i will never recommend any to see him. I think that because i am from the NWT i was treated differently. He said no one else ever complained about his staff, well maybe they were scared to because being sick you dont want to screw up your chances if getting better. I am still waiting and my mass was discovered a year ago.  See Responses

26/07/10 4 4 5 5 My 86 year old father was having blood clots in his urine due to a cancer growing on the wall of his bladder. Very painful. Dr. Hobart is new to us and agreed to perform a surgery on my father with very short notice. My father is doing very well now and we are grateful to Dr. Hobart and his team of Doctors which we did get to meet in the hospital and for a follow-up cystoscopy. His professionalism and confidence makes us feel good about the treatment dad is receiving.  Respond

31/03/10 5 5 5 5 Great guy. Quick and to the point. Has a lot of work to do so don't expect too much small talk. I had my da Vinvi prostate operation on Feb. 16th 2010 and I like a Doctor that radiates confidence. He does so many of these, by the time I see him again May 3rd I do not expect him to even remember me.  Respond

02/03/10 5 5 5 5 Dr Hobart recently performed my TURP procedure and because I already know his work I was more relaxed and calm than I was for any other surgery. He later visited me in my hospital room. I'm glad to have him as my specialist!  Respond

14/01/10 5 2 5 5 Dr Hobart is an excellent skilled surgeon whose knowledge and compassion are forefront. There's no question patients wait endlessly but in many cases he's between surgeries and we're fortunate and grateful to get the time we do.  Respond

23/05/09 5 5 5 5 I've been seeing Dr Hobart for almost 7 years because of my bladder cancer. His bedside manners may not be the greatest but his surgical skills are awesome and I have been cancer-free for almost 5 years. I've had several Urologists and none have come close to this Dr. I don't need a Dr to talk nice to me or beat around the bush, I need a Dr who is straight forward and will help me get better. Dr Hobart fits the bill for me.  Respond

26/04/09 1 1 1 1 I have been waiting for test results from Oct 2008 and have made numerous requests. He is too busy and his answer to everyone is jusy keep doing what I said. I have not taken the prescirption as they made me worse and tell everyone not to waste time with him as he doesnt even take the time and use his intern to do his work. Worse I have had in Alberta  Respond

23/03/09 2 1 4 5 Dr Hobart was very good when he took my daughter in at the onset of her kidney problems (stones), yet never did show up after the surgery was done. Someone else from his staff showed up, who didn't give us too much information. He showed up 1 1/2 hours late to remove her sutures, then was gone. I have tried to arrange a follow-up appointment with his office for 2 months now, yet no one ever answers a phone in his office, it just goes to voicemail. I think I've finally figured out the great Canadian medical game though, we have to go see our family doctor (who misdiagnosed her 2 times himself) to get a referral. This way our family doctor gets paid again for nothing, and all the good docs can have some more money on the backs of us taxpayers. What a system!  Respond

26/02/09 1 1 1 2 I went to have day surgery for my bladder problems and thta was October 2008 and to this date I still have not got test results.I have asked my physician and he has yet to send any response. Now how about that repsonse...none..glad it is not a major problem..he seems to be too busy to actually listen and due to this prescibed me medication that in extreme heat caused me to stop sweating even when I advised him I was participating in marathons in the summer...never again  Respond

09/01/09 5 5 5 5 I agree 100% with the previous entry (although I'm 3 years late in doing so). 'punctuality' is a bit of a meaningless 'quality' when you are thinking of office visits - expect to wait when you want to see a busy surgeon whose first concern has to be the patients in surgery that morning/afternoon, not the less critical one in the waiting room. Those who don't like waiting should contact their politicians!!  Respond

02/01/09 5 5 5 5 Well, I had the surgery and I heva been given a clean bill of health. Dr. Hobart and his staff, including Patsy, were amazing. Thanks for all you have done. My previous entry ... I have prostate cancer. I will have robotic surgery by Dr. Hobart in 8 days. I can't wait. His mannerism has been fantastic. He has given me every confidence is his abilities and knowledge. I feel privileged to have him as my surgeon. I will report back on Dr. Hobart again after my surgery.  Respond

27/09/07 5 5 5 5 Would I reccomend this Dr.? -- You bet I would. It's been two years since I first met him due to having prostrate cancer, 18 Months ago I was given several options and with his guidance I had my cancer removed. I saw him prior to the surgery in the operating room, in my room while recovering ( on a weekend)and the follow up visits. Did I have to wait at times - Yes -- but it was due to a complicaton he was having with a surgery. We have to remember we are not the only people he has contact with, if not saving lives at least extending our time to spent with loved ones. For those who like to bash just remember where you live and the medical treatments we have available to us in this country. Doctors don't like to say they have cured you of cancer but after 18 months my PSA is below .02 had it not been detected early and treated I would have reduced my chances of recovery. Thanks Dr. Hobart  Respond

30/06/07 5 5 5 5 10 out of 10 for Doctor Hobart. We came from out of town, very nervous about my operation and Doctor Hobart eased our fears. He explained EVERYTHING to us clearly in simple language, taking his time even though he is very busy. My recovery was fast and relatively easy. I felt very safe with Doctor Hobart. I highly recomment him!!!  Respond

09/03/07 1 1 2 My experience with this dr was the worst time in my life. He showed me no respect in the office or in the hospital after my surgery. I was treated badly by him and the hospital staff. I would never recommend this dr to anyone.  Respond

26/02/07 5 5 5 Count your blessings that Doctor Hobart is your Doctor. He is compassionate and kind and incredibly knowledgeable! He took my kidney out laporascopically and I was home and out and about in no time! He spent time with me to make sure that I was aware of any complicatins (of which there were none) and took time to see me in the hospital on the weekend. I was very impressed with the level of his care. I did wait in his office for my appointment for sometime but once and my wife and I met him for our appointment, we understood why. He takes genuine time with his patience. He esplains everything, answers your questions and LISTENS! He is a GREAT surgeon!  Respond
