PLEASE GET SECOND OPINION! My husband was diagnosed May 8, 2008 by dr. MacEachern with Multiple Sclerosis. 11 years later upon further investigations with 3 other neurologists, every test that MacEachern had done, were ALL negative. My husband has been suffering for all these years with the wrong diagnosis. He was on Copaxone, steroid treatments, other medications for MS. What did this do to him? Mentally, not good! Physically, not good. Currently getting more tests done. I know Doctors are not God, but this is not a mistake! I swear he was using my husband as a guinea pig! He is the most despicable person I’ve ever met. I really urge anyone who was diagnosed by him to please seek a second opinion.

After reading some of these reviews beforehand I was a bit nervous going to see Dr. MacEachern. I am from out of province and got to his office almost 2 hours before my scheduled appointment. The receptionist said that I would more than likely not get in early. The doctor came in at 9:00 am and my appointment not being until 10:45 I was prepared to wait. A few minutes later he came out and called me in, I was surprised as I was told I probably wouldn't get in before my 10:45 am appointment. I was very grateful for that. I found Dr. MacEachern to be very kind, he listened to all my concerns and answered them to the best of his knowledge, he couldn't pinpoint what was wrong with me but he gave me a few suggestions on what to do and what to take and told me to give them a try. Overall I was satisfied with the way I was treated, I just wish he could have figured out what the symptoms that I have been having for the past 5 years were caused from...

Found him arrogant and condescending. Scary time for us with husband's memory black-outs, headaches, impaired judgement & problem solving, dissociative episodes, etc. Husband is fully bilingual and requested speaking English because "My wife..." Dr. cut him off and said in French, "I'm speaking to you..." He continued to berate husband for obesity and blood pressure, and nothing was wrong with him. I can't understand French, but I understood the tone. I stupidly thought maybe the doctor was trying to see if he could induce a dissociative episode for diagnostic purposes, but no. Dr. then looked at me and said something in French. I told him I don't understand French, and then had to uncomfortably listen to his tirade again in English. I was shocked by it. Basically, we wasted his time. We left as bewildered as when we went in. Husband was eventually diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress syndrome. Doctor's demeanor was not what one would hope for in a medical professional. Surprisingly, while waiting to see the doctor, he escorted a patient out of the examining room who obviously had a serious condition, and he appeared to be very pleasant and compassionate. Hope I never cross his path again.

Dr. MacEachern is one of those quality-of-life altering doctors. Gave a lot of time, and explained things fantastically. While a bit on the strange side, I've found that these make the best neurologists.

Certainly not your average doc, however I've found that the best neurologists are touched in some way - allows them to think outside the box that GPs are all packaged in. He helped me with my diagnosis and treatment, picking up on subtleties that previous neurologists did not. I feel privileged to have him as a neurologist.
