Ratings for Dr. Paul B. Rizzoli
2.9
Incredibly arrogant, quick to compound drugs regardless of other options like botox or yoga/stretching, unresponsive, and rude. Became hostile when expressed my dissatisfaction with offices responses accompanied by a derogatory 3 paragraph office summary. Seek help elsewhere
Not impressed with him at all. He wanted to pump me full of meds and often asked me what I wanted to do. Funny he came highly recommended but was a waste of my time. Found a specialist that got to the bottom of my migraines with NO pills.
I would best describe my appointment with Dr. Rizzoli as a visit to a research practitioner. The visit was crisp and professional. He clearly has a studied approach to developing a profile of the patient's history and condition both on his computer for future reference and in his head for immediate application. Most of the appointment felt focused and clinical, but once he was ready to provide his advice and insight, I found him personable and concerned with my individual needs. He applied what seemed a broad, long studied and experienced knowledge to my situation and offered conclusions and assistance that made more sense than the myriad of other doctors I have seen who were not specialized in headache treatment. I was looking for answers not sympathy, although I did not have a headache at the time of my appointment, and I enjoyed his straight forward approach to a mysterious problem that I hope his research and patient studies will help better define for myself and others. I did have to wait 5 months for an appointment and when I made it I was in bad shape and looking for immediate answers.
I have been a patient of Dr. Rizzoli for quite a few year with migraine problems and although we still not even close to figuring out the reason for my never ending and debilitating problem (I don't have hopes that he can figure it out without drugging me into unconscious, but it is not his fault...), but we have been managing it with bearable amount of meds. My frustration is with not being able office stuff and not being able to get appointments when I need to ( I schedule 3 months in advance!), not being able to reach them by phone, being on hold for 15-20 minutes. I have to arrange delivery of some meds for injection and the pharmacy could not reach the office to do so for two weeks! They had to cancel the shipment and I did not get my meds on time! That translated into canceled appointment with Dr. Rizzoli and to schedule another one with him urgently you have to be a president... Extremely frustrating!!!
I came to this site to check reviews about Dr Rizzoli because I had been a patient of his 15 or so years ago and a friend of mine was planning to see him. When I saw him I was having seizures at the time. All he did was put me on medication. Never asked for a family history, took any blood tests, or x-rays. Just like everyone else says he's too interested in his computer. Very unprofessional. I finally switched doctors after a year and went to Beth Israel hospital. Got a diagnosis almost right away and found out I have epilepsy. If you're smart and need a good doctor Do not go here. Go down to Brookline ave and There are plenty of hospitals there with plenty of qualified and professional doctors. I'd take a med student over this guy.
This guy seems to be well educated in the specialized area of headaches and migraines but that was clearly overshadowed by his arrogance and poor bedside manner. He seems to think he already knows your situation before you tell him anything and any subjective details from you are only bothersome to him....spends most of the time typing into the computer instead of actually listening. Not coming back.
I cant beleive the reviews on this thread. Ive come into this office and had a 100% different view as below. The office staff were professional, friendly and helpful. I came in with years of headaches and after seeing 3 other speacialist he was the only to help me. His plan has helped and my headaches are in control . Ive called and got returned calls. Yes I agree D rRizzoli himself hasnt called back but the secretary was always prompt on retunring my calls and answering my questions. Great patient care
We came to Dr. Rizzoli w/ a hunch the diagnosis might be Cluster Headaches after a year of misdiagnosis, after our first appt. and MRI he confirmed it was CH and came up w/ a game plan. He is not a warm and fuzzy but a problem solver, a thinker and your "partner" in your healthcare. All decisions are ours to make when it comes to our health. Dr. Rizzoli is the one I want steering us in the correct direction. He knows his stuff, and is always 2 steps ahead of "my hours of research" for the next step in helping my husband cope w/ this horrible disease. His staff are professional and we have developed a good "working" relationship w/ Madelyn and the other office workers. If you know what you need and how to get it then there are no problems w/ this office. We thank our lucky stars for their care and their professionalism.
He seems much more interested in typing than in his patient. Saw him for several years, and felt he was good at least on diagnostics until I found out he had missed one problem and not treated another one. Arrogant and uncaring. Just wants the patients in and out as fast as possible.Doesn't return phone calls to other doctors even when requested. Office staff is TERRIBLE, but he is in charge of it, so that is his issue to resolve, and his responsibility. Poor "bedside" manner as noted in other comments. Seems very impressed with himself and his knowledge, and that can be a big problem because he doesn't consider anything else..that's where my issues developed.Needs to improve his listening skills and his interpersonal skills. Undoubtedly very intelligent, but it all gets lost and doesn't do the patient any good..maybe should have done something other than medicine..
Don't care about his horrible bedside manner, useless office staff, that's beside the point. He is a horrible Dr who won't help his patients in emergency situations and tells them they're making it up (probably because he's incapable of treating them and rather than admitting it and referring them to another dr, he blames the patient). So glad I got a second opinion rather than sticking with this incompetent one. Beware!
