14/10/13 5 5 5 5 Dr. Temple and all his team were first class. They really put me at ease going into the scariest time of my life. The Tom Baker isn't the most fun place to visit, but hopefully after the major surgery he did, complete with chemo bath, I will never have to visit it again. I would tell anyone to listen to him and to take his recommendation for treatment, there is a reason he's the best of best. I would also like to say how great the nurses were at the Foothills, not the nicest looking hospital, but awesome folks to look after you while recovering. A big thanks to Dr. Temple all involved.

23/11/11 5 5 5 5 Dr Temple is amazing! He performed radical surgery when everyone else had given up on our loved one. He is extremely knowledgeable and does not conform to traditional treatments...chemo wash after abdominal surgery. He is caring and thoughtful and goes beyond what we ever expected from a doctor. He saved our loved one's life and we can never thank him enough! He and his staff take the time to communicate with patients and their families so you have all of the information you deserve. What a wonderful doctor!!!  Respond

18/03/10 5 4 5 5 Dr. Temple may be a bit late for an appointment because he spends as much time with his patients as they need. He saved my life and gave me quality of life that another surgeon might not have deemed necessary. When I was diagnosed with my cancer he immediately had appointments for all the necessary tests and doctors made for me. Friendly, thoughtful, listens well. Couldn't ask for a better surgeon at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Thank you Dr. Temple for everything.  Respond

24/06/09 3 3 1 1 Manipulative and dishonest. I was rushed into treatment. He talked me into treatment with promises of minimal surgery with only a tiny scar, then grossly overtreated me for a miniscule grade one-third tumour, leaving me disfigured and with chronic pain for which I am now seeking professional help. In spite of it being a very small, low-grade (not even grade 1!) tumour, he took extra lymph nodes, leaving me with damage to my arm (shooting pains down the arm into middle and ring finger). All lymph nodes were completely healthy. I cannot straighten the arm, and it is thicker than the other arm. A friend with a grade 3 tumour avoided surgery from doctors associated with the Tom Baker because of my experience and received far less draconic treatment than I did. When they told her they would take only the sentinal node, that's all that they took. I wish I had never trusted this doctor.  Respond

16/04/08 1 3 1 1 This doctor did the old "bait and switch" number on me. He misled me, made promises of minimal treatment, and then overtreated me for a miniscule, grade one-third tumor that might never have been a problem in my entire lifetime (I didn't find out how unthreatening it was until after I was was rushed into treatment). My worst fears regarding treatment were realized. Very manipulative. Patients should be careful about consent forms -- DO NOT give a surgeon carte blanche and assume that he will act as agreed between you. This doctor knew my concerns and priorities, made promises concerning them, and then completely disregarded them. I am paying with considerably reduced quality of life. I am disfigured and have chronic pain from nerve damage. He also lied to me twice and, when I requested my medical records, I found a lie in his notes.  Respond

15/06/07 5 5 5 There is not another person in this worldllike Wally Temple. The doctors in Edmonton referred us to him, even though we were from Manitoba. I am sure he gave our husband/dad/grandfather eighteen months more of life for us thanks to him and Dr. Michael Smylie in Edmonton. My daughter, who was working at thr University Hospital in the cardiac recovery department was asked by a co-worker why my husband was sent to Wally Temple and the reply was 'because he is the best'. I sent him a small gift at Christmas just to say how much we all appreciated his efforts and I got a letter back, personally signed, of thank you. Not many high profile people would do that, but that is Wally Temple. Alberta/Calgary/Oncology is so lucky to have this wonderful surgeon and human being in their midst. I am forever grateful to that man. A  Respond

11/06/07 5 5 5 Dr. Temple is certainly a technically superb, well-respected surgeon, who exhibits a desireable balance between human warmth and technical ability. My surgery was extremely complicated - I have been told by other physicians that I would not be typing here if not for Dr. Temple. I am very grateful for his expertise and kind manner.  Respond

14/03/07 5 5 5 I had the pleasure of receiving care from Dr. Temple in 1994 when he still did trauma call. He performed 2 surgeries on my abdomen after a bad car accident, and was also involved in my post-surgical care, all of which, I believe, played a HUGE part in saving my life. I was 18 at the time.  Respond

12/03/07 5 5 5 Very similiar comments, that the others had. Very caring , and more so understanding, and explained my options. This was in 1997 when I first saw Dr. temple. In 2004, was my last visit, and given a clean bill of health. It was his immediate action that saved me, and attacked my cancer with full treatments.  Respond
