05/05/14 4 5 5 5 I had such a wonderful appointment with Dr. Shenassa. I was a very worried and anxious patient, having a follow up on my abnormal pap readings. But after meeting him for just a few minutes I was calm, relaxed and felt very comfortable. Dr. Shenassa has very good bedside manner and was very good at making sure I understood my situation completely. I felt really good knowing that he was looking after me. I couldn't stop thanking him enough. He is GREAT!!  Respond

23/04/14 5 5 5 5 I can't think of anything but good things when I think about Dr. Shenassa. He is kind, patient and caring. Though it took a lot of convincing, I finally went through with surgery as he recommended. I was very afraid, and he made me feel very comfortable. I am still recovering, but I feel as though I am in excellent hands and feel very privileged to be one of his patients. He is an all around fabulous Doctor. Thanks Dr. Shenassa, this procedure is going to have a huge impact on my quality of life!  Respond

23/07/13 5 5 5 5 Dr. Shenassa basically saved my life by performing an emergency surgery when my body, kidneys etc were shutting down from another procedure. An excellent bedside manner, educates his patients, is very considerate with worried relatives, and is just a great surgeon. Highly recommended for a successful procedure, recovery and minimal side effects.

18/12/12 5 4 5 5 It's such a pleasure to deal with a person who has a great energy. Dr Shenassa is a positive, friendly supportive and knowledgeable professional. Right from the first moment he knows what to say that makes you feel comfortable. He is very constructive in terms of undertaking actions and determine procedures. I'm really pleased that after dealing with different other specialists in that field, I've finally got an access to the doctor of his scale. Wish you a Happy New Year, Dr Shenassa. Sophia  Respond

23/04/12 5 3 5 5 I was referred to Dr Shenassa through the OBGYN I was seeing for a surgery. Dr Shenassa is amazing! There is usually a longer wait time in his office, but it is because he TAKES the time with each patient instead of them just being a 'number'. I was going through a huge cyst growth (13cm) and he was very informative and let me know all the details I needed to know. He even called me personally at one point to ask how I am doing! What doctor does that?? :) He performed my surgery to remove one of my ovarys and tumor. Operation was a success! Thank you Dr Shenassa! If I ever have a 2nd baby (if at all possible), I would definitely select YOU as my doctor. Thank you again! :)  Respond

18/10/11 5 4 5 5 This doctor is truly one of the best. He treated me like an individual and was in tune to my worries about cancer, having had it before. His co-worker, Dr. Singh is also phenomenal; he is the one who performed my procedure. I still require surgery but am very confident as to the skill of either one of these doctors. Dr. Shenassa is a surgeon who actually called me at home to give me the result of my biopsy and alleviated my anxiety. It is rare for a surgeon to call any patient so he is one of a kind  Respond

20/08/11 5 3 5 5 In March 2010 I got a uterine fibroid about the size of an orange that was very symptomatic. After 3 lupron injections, Dr. Hassan Shenassa performed a hysteroscopic myomectomy on me at the beginning of 2011. But unfortunately by June 2011, the fibroid grew back to its original size with severe bleeding. Dr. Shenassa was considerate enough to perform another emergency operation on me this time without the lupron injections. This time he did an amazing job and right now I'm fibroid free. He is caring, compassionate, reassuring and very confident in his surgical method of choice. I would recommend him to any woman looking for an OBGYN with superb surgical skills.  Respond

05/07/09 5 5 5 5 What a wonderful physician. Warm, caring, compassionate, humane, and reassuring. Went to see him after years of infertility for laparoscopy/hysteroscopy, from which I am healing well. He kept both me and my husband informed of what he had found, called us on a Sunday evening (two days after surgery) to see how I was doing, and has just been plain wonderful. Our experience with him, and with Dr Norman Barwin, has been truly a bright spot in a difficult time - they are both true healers, and we feel blessed for having met them on this journey.  Respond

30/06/09 5 2 5 5 After being bounced around from doctor to doctor and not gettng any help and sometimes making things worse I ended up being referred to Dr S. I showed up for my appt which was delayed about an hour and for once WHO CARES. He was amazing. He apologized right away, he LISTENED to me recount the last 20 years of issues (I am 34). He understood, he made a plan, he explained all possibilities, he made me feel that he genuinely cared about my issues and he even apologized for what no one has done for me. Yes he runs late because he doesnt herd you in out like he just wants to bill for your appt, yeah he is a little overbooked because he wants to make sure you get seen no matter how small your issue may seem. A genuine DOCTOR which I haven't seen in a long time.  Respond

12/06/09 3 3 5 5 I'd had 2 surgeries before I was lucky enough to be referred to Dr. Shenassa and at the risk of sounding melodramatic... HE IS A TRUE HEALER. His hands must be blessed by G-d because he managed to cure me of 23 years of pain and suffering through a 2 and half hour Laparoscopic Surgery where no other doctor had managed to make a difference. In addition to his incredible skills as a surgeon, he is a non-judgmental and caring individual who listens, takes his time and shows compassion. I cannot say enough good things about him. If I find myself sitting in his waiting room, I could care less because I know it's because he's taking the time that his current patient needs and that he'll do the same with me. And he's the only doctor I know who actually APOLOGIZES if I've had to wait. AND HE'S WORTH WAITING FOR ANYWAY!!! Dr. Shenassa... YOU ROCK!!!! :)))  Respond

22/05/09 5 5 5 5 I just needed to come on here and say that Dr. Shenassa is fantastic! At first I did not want to see a Male Obstetrician but boy am I glad that I did! He is very compassionate, thorough, and friendly. His staff is wonderful!!! After being treated badly at Dr. Gofton and Thorne's office, Dr. Shenassa and his receptionist were a godsend!! I highly recommend him and everyone at his office. This is going to be my first baby. Thank you so much.  Respond

30/04/09 5 4 5 5 Dr. Shenassa has been wonderful. I have stage four endometriosis and am having surgery yet again. Although I will be losing my right ovaries at 35, I am confident that Dr.Shenassa will do a great job. I am thrilled that I am his patient and know that in the future when I have a baby, that he will be a great OBGYN as well.  Respond

01/01/09 5 5 5 5 Dr. Shenassa was a godsend for me. I had a Urethral Diverticulum and was lucky to have Dr. Morash and Dr Shenassa as a team of surgeons. I could not have felt more in capable hands at a time of worry. It was a fast recovery and the followups were so helpful. He is a extremely sweet and capable man. I agree that it is his calling. I hope when I have children someday that he will be around to deliver them.  Respond

02/12/08 4 4 4 5 I have recently undergone a myomectomy and ablation and I felt completely confident in the hands of Dr. Shenassa. The proceedure went better than anticipated, with my "Guardian Angel" guiding the hands of Dr. Shenassa and his staff. I received a call the next business day to see how I was feeling, which I appreciated. Everything was handled very competently and efficiently and I now look forward to a better quality of life with my husband, family and friends, now that this troublesome fibroid has been removed. Dr. Shenassa is worth his weight in gold!  Respond

10/11/08 5 5 5 5 EXCELLENT doctor! Very caring and patient. I was hesitant to see a male OB-GYN, but he is one of the best doctors I've ever had. He performed surgery on me (an endometrial ablation) and he called that night to follow up and see if I had any questions or concerns. If only there were more doctors like him!  Respond

19/09/08 5 5 5 5 Dr. Shenassa is, hands down, the most wonderful doctor I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He was friendly, sympathetic, and knowledgeable in his office and, after surgery (no complications and an easy recovery), he called me personally to follow up. His receptionist/staff return calls promptly, are friendly, and had me on a waiting list for surgery before I'd even asked (and did get me bumped up two whole months). I can't say enough about this man...he may have quite literally given me my life back after almost two years of pain and the frustration of dealing with less capable doctors. Two thumbs up. I love this guy! (As a sidenote, when the nurses at the hospital saw who my attending surgeon was, the universal response was, "Oh he's a sweetie.")  Respond

01/05/08 5 5 5 5 I am very impressed with Dr. Shenassa. First time I go, in between other patient he took the time to stop in the room, introduce himself, and then tell me he'd see me shortly. When he came back, he then took the time to explain and make sure I understood everything he explained to me. He gave me multiple option to correct my problem and made a reccomentdation but let ME make the final decision. Not only that, he walked me out and told me to call for an appointement if I had any questions or concerns since we had talked about so many things he said that I will probably have questions later on! I left there feeling understood and well cared for.. which is what you want from your doctor.  Respond

28/04/08 5 5 5 5 dr. shenassa started seeing me for the treatment of late stage dysplasia, he was very understanding and allowed my new husband to be present during treatments as much as possible reducing my stress level greatly i had previously been in an abusive marriage had recently buried my father & was watching my mother fight cancer-after my first gyny appt later i became an ob he cared for me throughout our two high risk pregnancies when we were expecting our fist my mom passed away and he was genuienly concerned for my emotional health when expecting our second he allowed our then three year old to "help" with mom & baby's care by allowing him to pump up the bp cuff, hold the doppler and such this made our son feel as though the baby was his as well when his sister was born he was not jealous & was very proud and protective of "his" baby i can't express my gratitude for the for the caring & compassion shown to us with out him i would have opted for a hyster & would not have our beautiful kids  Respond

28/01/08 5 5 5 5 Very good doctor for any woman problem! I had him for a three pregnancies. Very sympathetic and understanding to whatever concerns you. He is also the head of his field at the University of Ottawa. As he is part of many different clinics, it is hard to get him as a new patient, but if you are referred generally he will take you. If you have a chance to have him as a doctor, you are are in good hands from beginning to end!  Respond

31/05/07 4 5 5 An amazing Doctor - helped me to feel better quickly and his followup is great. His staff are kind and polite and to notch. He goes above and beyond to ensure you leave his office feeling like you have been heard and cared for. The BEST gyn I have ever seen, no wonder it took so long to get in to see him. Well worth the wait. A++++  Respond

04/05/07 4 5 5 I was hesitant to see a male OB/GYN, but this guy couldn't be more professional. He is courteous and caring. I was shy when I first met him because he is beautiful and he had to examine me "down there". I paint my toe nails and wash "down there" really well before I see him. I've been seeing him since 1997 and don't want to even think of the day he retires. He's a great physician! Highly recommended!  Respond

13/01/07 4 5 5 After having a very bad experience with my first Gynecologist I was so happy when I found Dr Shenassa!!! He took the time to talk to me, about the treatments and facts about my disease that my other doctor seamed to resent. I feel that he cares about my condition and that he is trying to help me to the best of medical ability. He has peen part of some very good Canadian studies on Endometriosis in this country and shared with me some of his findings. I would suggest that any woman struggling with Endo in this country try to get their hands on some of his research, and if you're in Ottawa try to get a ref to him. Although my surgery preformed by him did not correct my condition, his bed side manner in the office and at the hospital was top notch and I feel as if I'm a member of a team working toward getting my helath back again  Respond
