Cold, dismissive, and lacking basic compassion. For patients dealing with infertility, miscarriage, or pregnancy loss, empathy is essential, and that was completely absent in my experience. The interaction felt judgmental and uncaring rather than supportive. Patients in vulnerable situations deserve far better. I would not recommend this doctor.

I was referred to Dr. Rhone by my family doctor (who is a male) and I felt that seeing a female doctor would be a better, warmer and more compassionate experience. That wasn’t the case. I had been referred to her a few years ago with similar issues but according to my file I had seen her locum doctor. When she entered the room I thanked her for waiving the cancellation fee (as I was unable to make my previous appointment) which I felt was very understanding. When our appointment started, she seemed nice but I quickly realized it was a “keep it professional” type of nice which was kind of cold and not genuine. She asked what my concerns were and after going over them she referred to my file and asked if I had tried anything her locum doctor had previously suggested as my concerns were very similar. Their recommendations were to go on some type of hormonal birth control/ IUD and/or manage pain with pain killers like ibuprofen. For context, generally I am someone who prefers a holistic and more natural approach than just covering up symptoms with pills and band-aid solutions. While I do recognize and value pharmaceutical medication having a place that can be very helpful, I do believe we turn to them as a quick fix solution far too often and abuse them for everything rather than investigating deeper for the root cause of dis-ease and symptoms. I’ve always focused on a more holistic approach to my health and wellbeing even since I was younger and this is why I hadn’t opted to take birth control pills as previously recommended by the other doctor I saw at her practice. I did take birth control pills for a couple years many years ago when I was about 17-19 and even then didn’t want a high dose of anything synthetic. We know there can be side effects and even cancer associated with birth control so it’s not something I necessarily want to take long-term as they are associated with other health issues. I mentioned this but Dr. Rhone seemed to think there was little to no side effects attributed to hormonal birth control. I was there to see what other options I had and to investigate further into the root cause of my symptoms which she seemed dismissive about. When I mentioned some things I had discussed with one of my Naturopathic doctors, she just blankly starred at me and said something like “ yeah that’s a different school of thought”. Quite frankly I’m so tired of conventional doctors that are so biased and closed- minded when is comes to treating their patients. I have suspicions ( as did my Naturopath) that I may have PCOS and Dr.Rhone she said she didn’t think so based on their diagnostic criteria. I mentioned I have gained quite a bit of weight that’s been difficult to lose and she said that is not a symptom rather a cause of PCOS and that’s if the weight is lost, usually PCOS goes away. Like huh? I’ve experienced very difficult, heavy and painful periods pretty much since I starting menstruating at 11 yrs old and I’ve always been very thin. In my 20s my weight fluctuated a lot but I generally remained thin and this is my first time in my 30s now that I’ve gained weight and had difficulty losing it. I’ve done so much research that points to weight gain being a symptom of PCOS/ insulin resistance (and could potentially exacerbate symptoms) but it just seemed kind of fat-phobic, dismissive and invalidating of my experience with pain and other symptoms. When I remembered another concern and brought it up, she said I could book another appointment to discuss that as it was “completely separate”. I responded that while I was there seeing her it made sense to have all my concerns addressed and she reiterated that I can book a follow up appointment. All in all I left feeling like I was dismissed and basically like there’s nothing she can do for me if I don’t take her cookie cutter medical advice. Definitely will not be seeing her again and I encourage all of us to continue to advocate for ourselves and our health. Seek all the opinions, do all the research and stay true to ourselves. Don’t let doctors gaslight you especially as Women- we have to deal with misogyny even in health care and even coming from other women. It’s up to us to change the system and the way we deserve to be treated and respected.

I was put on hormonal birth control 20 years ago by this doctor. I was told to take it multiple packs in a row without stopping and to take a short break in between the multiple packs. I developed aggressive non genetic breast cancer in my 30’s (after taking birth control for 20 years). I called Dr. Rhones office to let them know just in case it was related to this brand of birth control and I thought they might care. When I called and explained this I was asked to hold, and then the receptionist came back and said “so did you want to make an appointment?” I said I don’t think I need to meet with her I just wanted you to be aware so maybe this drug is reconsidered or if you have more people that have this happen you’re aware of it. They said ok thanks bye. I have since seen her on tv stating that menopausal women are often opposed to taking HRT due to concerns over potential side effects and that in reality approx only 10% have those side effects. Which is interesting I’m wondering how these stats are calculated are the numbers correct. No one followed up with me in 20 years to ensure I was still healthy and are they contacting all women that are prescribed HRT to verify that they have not developed cancer or other serious side effects. And if 10% or less develops cancer is the risk really worth the benefit of manageable menopause side effects. I sincerely hope the drug I was on is being checked out. And while there is no way to confirm for certain the drug caused my cancer, 20 years is a long time to be on hormonal birth control and increased my risk dramatically.

I am so glad Dr Rhone was recommended to me. She was my OB for all 3 babies. Her staff are very friendly and always easy to get in touch with. Most of the time if I could not get through the line, I would email the receptionist Agnes and she was always responsive. I had plenty of questions first pregnancy and she was very patient answering all my questions, never felt rushed at any appointment. Although, some check ups were brief and short but baby & I were both healthy so there was no reason for the visit to take longer. First baby she did not deliver as she was on holidays but she saw me up until 39wks. I ended up having emergency cs at 40+1wks which was a traumatic experience. 2nd baby was scheduled cs. Dr Rhone delivered and it was SO smooth. Whole process was easy and straightforward. 3rd pregnancy I did not make it to my schedule cs and delivered earlier which was emerg cs again, delivered by oncall ob. All in all, Dr Rhone provided great care for every pregnancies and I would highly recommend her!

Dr Rhone was not interested in providing answers or working with us to have our questions answered in a detailed or meaningful way. We were looking to get answers in order to feel comfortable on a specific issue. She simply had her opinion and didn't believe in spending time to assess it further. She didn't even comment on some other basic reasons for our visit. Ultimately, our questions were returned with negative emotions (albeit subtly) and consequently we don't feel comfortable going with her anymore.

She is horrible! Dismissed me after one consult and didn’t address my issue. Told me I didn’t technically qualify for infertility so told me that she has nothing more to do. No wonder her wait list is only 3 weeks compared to others. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.
