Some empathy please, people. This physicisn unfortunately died recently. I knew him as a careful, attentive physician. He was clearly battling inner demons, which made his achievements remarkable under the circumstances. He will be missed.

Dr Heatcoat is great with kids and is knowledgable. He is not so great with adults and he does not remember his patients. I went to him for 3 yrs because there are no other Drs taking patients. His staff is the rudest I have ever come across and I have complained about them on numerous occasions

this is the most disfunctional office i have ever had the misfortune to enter or phone. I have worked in alot of medical offices and I am certain that none of the staff has had any formal training to understand their position. They are supposed to be there to assist the doctor and the patient. If they are unable to complete tasks that are their responsibility, then they need to remove themselves from the position of office "assistant". Thank god for Parksville Medical.

Dr. Heatcoat is an excellent doctor. He was very ill last Christmas and into the new year, but now he is back in full swing and feeling better. My family is very glad that he is back. His staff are great and are very personable. There is often a full waiting room, but it is worth the wait.

Very poor front desk staff. No customer (patient) service skills, rude and abrupt. Dr. is non attentive, far too quick, my wife & I have had on nmuerous occasions had to insist he sit down and talk to us. Dismissive, won't listen. always in a hurry. Made a mistake on prescription dosage for me ( 12/07), caught at the pharamacy, took 4 days for him to correct it.Thankfully the pharmacy issued an emergency supply. We do at least expect a Dr to know what dosages we take, but we suspect that he didn't have it written down on the chart. Symptomatic of his inattention. A very careless, thoughtless and inefficient man, and we will try to switch to another doctor although that is extermely difficult in this area so we may well be stuck with him. Very scary.

Very poor experience. Another patient, a friend of mine, became aware of a problem I was having after visiting Dr. Heatcoat. Just my experience.

As a first-time patient, I was leary of him because of being warned by someone about his chair-side manner. He seemed fine at first until I told him that I was interviewing him..ha..ha and then he changed. Seems to be abrupt but will give him a second chance.

I have been a patient of Dr. Heatcoats for approx: 2 yrs. Thanks to his knowledge and inquiring mind and health issue was discovered and is now being treated. This issue had not been found, or even considered as an answer to my health problems by two other doctors. I find Dr. Heatcoat to be very personable, respectfull and very helpful in assisting me in understanding clearly my health issues. I like the fact that he is clear and precise. That he does not like un-explained symptoms and seeks the answer. He is not afraid to referr you to specialists to help in your health issues. Thank you Dr. Heatcoat for being there, I feel confident that my health is in good hands. I would reccomend him to anyone.

He doesn't like to be questioned by his patients. He is an ex-military doctor and expects his patients to do as they are told and get a thorough exam every year whether they are sick or not. He doesn't deal well with any mental or emotional issues. When he took on my family when we moved to the area he didn't want to take on my husband because he has a brain injury from a long ago car accident. My family will switch to a different doctor as soon as we can find one in this area that is taking new patients.
