Ratings for Dr. Michael Wainwright
3.6
Years ago he claimed I chewed gum and said that’s why my metal bracket after braces AND Invisalign kept breaking. I rarely ever did. Now I’m left with two crooked teeth. The exact same reason I got Invisalign. Waste of my money.
Excellent care, knowledgable and experienced. Dr Wainwright's work prevented surgical intervention. Very thorough explaining procedures and possible outcomes of interventions.
Went to him for six years, begining in grade 7 and through all of high-school. Had many orthodontic processes by him, including jaw widening, head gear, braces with and without elastics and retainer. He didn"t seem to care how things were going for me once he was paid and my parents were committed to his plan. He didn't suggest options with me or my parents when my teeth weren"t responding the way he predicted and was cold and brief when I had appointments.
A very dishonest doctor. Absolutely astonished by the tricks he tried to pull. If you're wondering why you can't find any record of lawsuits against him, the basic strategy is to settle them out of court (the payoffs come from the insurance company's pocket, not his). Do not, repeat, do not allow this man to touch you.
I was very disappointed with Dr. Wainwright's service. He had been so highly recommended by my dentist and 2 other friends. But I totally agree with the negative comments here and wish I would have read them before I started treatment. He seemed to lose interest after about 5 months and seemed to be in a rush to finish, telling me that it did not matter that my teeth were not symmetrical, what mattered was function. It was then that I started feeling a lot of pain and wanted him to back tract a little to a more natural position (so the pain would go away). When he refused, I decided to quit treatment. Then he informed me that the xray I had a few months before meant that my treatment was completed anyway. So he refused to lower the price and I am now having to let my teeth return to their natural position. In adding to the advice given below (ie that he will not complete the work properly if paid in full) do not have any xrays until you are sure you are happy with his treatment.
Dr Wainwright was knowledgeable but appeared to want me to pick the option that cost more. It was clear to me that he only cared about money. His friendliness was quite obviously fake and this was observed on countless occasions.
I had a poor experience with Dr. Wainright. He was kind and knowledgable in my first visits, but quickly lost interest in my treatment and, in the end, was somewhat dishonest in terminating it early (without any lowering of the agreed upon fee). He came highly recommended by my dentist, who also had her orthodontic work done there, but I'm sure his treatment of a potentially-referring colleague was impecable.
This Dr. did amazing things for me in my childhood - fixed a pronounced underbite and crossbite - which made a huge difference in my life. Now that I'm all grown up, I'm going back to him for braces. So far, he's been punctual, affable, and well-organized, and I've been really happy with my experience.
Not recommended. Has the skill, but not the will, to take the time to complete the job properly. Overcharges and underdelivers. There are some absolutely wonderful orthos in Vancouver. So Michael Wainwright is an unnecessarily risky choice. Apart from what I'm aware of through my own first hand knowledge, I've heard he has a history of losing interest in doing meticulous work if he's paid in full before the treatment has been completed satisfactorily.
Great doctor, and did some great things for me. I wouldn't go back to his office, however, because of his receptionist who started out as a lovely person until all of my installment payments were met. After that, she turned into the Secretary from Hell. I do think that the doctor should re-consider how patients pay for services. No one likes to suddenly be treated poorly because they are no longer paying customers. So we're straight, her name starts with a "J" like, Jessy James.
