Ratings for Dr. Steve Goodchild
3.6
Dr. Goodchild was my GP for years before I moved to Nanaimo. He's likeable but made some serious mistakes that cost me dearly, including repeatedly misdiagnosing celiac disease as anxiety, IBS, constipation. Recently, a random walk-in clinic doctor near my new house talked to me for ten minutes and insisted I be tested for celiac, something that she said should have happened a decade ago. As a result of late diagnosis, I have permanent damage that I'll be dealing with for life. Furthermore, because I was experiencing some psychiatric issues from long term celiac, Dr. Goodchild referred me to a notoriously bad, predatory psychiatrist named Dr. Boston, who made everything worse by also ignoring many of my symptoms and putting me on an antipsychotic that was in no way appropriate for me, and which also caused damage which may be permanent (serious issues with insomnia since going off the drug in particular).
Dr. Goodchild was my GP for 15 years before a recent move away from Victoria. Always excellent, got well ahead of incipient health issues, always erred on the side of caution, went above and beyond more than once. A great doctor.
When you go to see a doctor for a PAP test, it is very unprofessional for them to comment on the "attractiveness" of your bra and underwear placed on the chair in the room.
Predator. Rude. Touched me inappropriately, commented on my legs....
Told me a spot on my leg “was not cancer” . Had him check it in two separate occasions. Explained troubling symptoms to him which he ignored and tried to make me feel foolish for coming in twice. I told him I didn’t believe him and asked to see a specialist. Turns out it is cancer and I will be having surgery to get it removed. Thank god I didn’t listen to this fool. He also diagnosed my 73 year old mother with seasonal allergies (she had never had allergies her whole life) and arthritis. She actually had lung cancer which had travelled to her spine. His specialty should be in misdiagnosis that kill people.
Dr Goodchild is a wonderful Dr. and has look after our family medical needs for 20 plus years. He is very competent and has been able to get us into specialists in a timely manner, listens well and follows up to insure our needs are met.
This doctor sexually abused me when I was 15!! No nurse in the room and he requested that my mother leave the room...he’s disgusting and seeing his photo triggers me! Apparently I needed a full physical for a sample pack of birth control.
Great doctor. Very grateful to have him, and his reception staff is also great.
Goodchild is the worst doctor I've ever had. He called my mental health issues "hearsay". In a city with a doctor shortage, I would rather have no doctor at all. His reception staff is not bad, but I don't want to skew my rating as higher than 1/5. I would give him a zero if I could.
