22/08/13 4 5 4 5 The first time we saw Dr Sturm it was obvious he loves babies, he was patient and listened to all our questions and concerns, and then when it was mentioned in our family history an illness that I (the mom) had, he gave me the name of 2 doctors for me to check out, and even went right there and then to the phone to call one of them, being a doctor is definitely his calling. Yes, he is very busy, and to the point, sometimes curt, but we have never had to wait more than 10min in the waiting room, which is amazing, and when I do ask him a question, his answers are very informed. We are secure with this doctor.

05/07/13 3 4 2 4 We always feel rushed with Dr. Sturm. He ignores us completely when we feel that what we're saying to him is pertinent information he should know that could help him diagnose our child. He mumbles when he speaks so it's very difficult to understand what he's trying to say.  Respond

31/05/13 4 5 4 5 My son has been going to Dr.Sturm since he was a baby after we found out he has a blood disorder and our family doctor did not feel comfortable treating him any longer. He has been an amazing doctor. I've been to both offices (Weston Rd and Thornhill) and I have never had an issue at either. When we were told by a doctor at Sick Kids that my son needed surgery Dr.Sturm got on the phone with the head of surgery that day as he knew my son did not need the surgery and he was right. I trust Dr.Sturm completely. My family doctor has called him a genious. You are in good hands if you decide to have your child see him.

08/02/13 1 4 5 5 Great doctor, crappy staff and office. The office has no call waiting, voice mail, email, or any organized system for making appointments. The doctor works fast and efficiently keeping the wait to a minimum, is courteous, and knows his stuff. The office can do with a business consultant to update their office procedures but otherwise a highly recommended doctor.  Respond

04/08/12 4 4 5 5 I had been a patient of Dr. Sturm's since birth and continued on with him until I grew too old. Dr. Sturm is the most amazing doctor I have ever had. He is compassionate, knowledgable and reassuring. Whenever I was ill he would see me the same day despite being fully booked. In fact, he'd even meet me at Sick Kids at night if i fell ill or even examine me at his home. He even goes as far as to call patients on his own time to follow up. He puts his patients needs above all. There are some docs who are in the field for money and there are others who are truly passionate about their jobs; Dr. Sturm is the passionate kind and is in his field for the right reasons. He cares about the child's physical, emotional and mental well-being. I am 21 now and wish that I could still see him. It is true that his office is always busy, but that is a testament to his skills as a doctor as it proves just how amazing he is. Thank you Dr. Sturm for being the amazing doctor that you are. -Alessia G.  Respond

14/04/11 5 3 1 1 I was a patient of this doctor for 12 years. When i was 13 I was losing lots of weight. I was 60 pounds. My mom told the Dr I was waking up in the middle of the night to pee alot, I was drinking lots of water, and I was also eating LOTS of food but still losing weight. This went on for about 1.5 years. My mom begged Dr.Sturm to do blood tests because Diabetes runs in the family, and he replied "you italian moms want your kids to be fat". Months went by, and finally another doctor at sick kids, decided to do blood work, and diagnosed me with Type 1 Diabetes. We left Dr.Sturms office immediately and he refused to transfer any medical documents, because they all show that my mom asked for blood work, and he refused.  Respond

27/12/10 5 5 5 5 We are truly blessed to have found Dr. Sturm. His confidence and accurate diagnosis have given us reassurance time and again, and when it comes to your child, you want the best. Dr. Sturm is one of a kind; a combination of excellence in his profession, matched with high emotional intelligence and sensitivity. Never has he made us feel silly for asking even the most seemingly obvious or out-of-topic question to do with our child. He has also spoken to us on the phone personally when we have been abroad. He takes the time and we feel whole-heartedly that our child receives the best possible care under his wings. Please don't ever retire Dr. Sturm!!! Love, the Benaiches  Respond

27/01/09 2 2 1 1 I have four children. Each time I bring my children to Dr. Sturm, I promise myself it is the last time I going there. Once upon a time he may have been a good doctor, but now he is too busy and too over-confident. He is not responsive to children and their needs. For the past two years, he had misdiagnosed my children several times. If I don't find another pediatrician soon enough, I would rather bring my children to a walk-in clinic than to him.  Respond

16/07/08 4 3 5 5 He is absolutely the best. We have been going to Dr. Sturm for almost 22 years and I would highly recommend him. He is knowledgable, compassionate and a true mensch. He is very thorough and is on top of each and every child. I am hoping that my youngest son who is no 16 will continue to go to him for years. Even though it is very difficult to get through on the phone lines, it is worth the wait - Dr. Sturm is definately second to none.  Respond

20/05/08 5 5 5 5 I have been a patient of Dr. Sturm since I was a few weeks old. He has been nothing but helpful over the past 21 years. He is extremely knowledgable and his been able to assist me with all my healthcare issues. Suffering from severe asthma, Dr. Sturm has taken the utmost care and time dealing with me. I do agree that the lines are quite hectic but that should be taken as an indictation of what an amazing doctor he truly is since so many people are trying to see him. As for the comments about his bedside manner or him being abrupt, seeing the number of patients a day that he does and providing such great medical expertise, that should be secondary. He is never rude, mean or disrespectful - rather he is straight to the point, no messing around. As stated, I have been a patient for 21 years, my brother for 12 and my sister for 6 and would highly recommend Dr. Sturm!  Respond

07/05/08 2 3 3 4 It is frustrating and sometime impossible to make an appointment with Dr. Sturm. The lines are crazy busy. The office staff should look into e-mails to book appointments and ask questions (especially if a fee is being charged for advice- what's the point if you can never get a hold of him?) I have heard some paediatricians use e-mail service for advice, appointments, etc. and it seems to work well for the patients and staff. I think Dr. Sturm is very knowledgeable and overall a good doctor but bedside manners need a lot of improvement- you would think choosing to be a paediatrician you be more responsive to children and their needs. I don't want my child growing up afraid of going to the doc. when we hit the parking lot! Office staff are cold and abrupt.  Respond

07/05/08 2 4 4 5 I found Dr.Sturm to always have the the answer to all my questions and having all 3 of my kids with him since 1994 I would recomend him to anyone which I have ! Calling to make an appt. is difficult but I think that is the laziness of his staff who put the lines on hold most of the day !! Overall as a Doctor I feel he is very informative and gets to the point and comes highly recommended by Dr. from Sick Kids !  Respond

27/04/08 4 2 4 5 Dr. Sturm has been seeing my daughter since she was 3 days old and that was almost 8 years ago. I find that he is extremely busy with patients and does not have very much time to spend with each appointment. However, he always listens and allows me to ask questions. I have not seen Dr. Sturm in about a year and my daughter has been suffereing from stomach pains and over the past few eeks we have been in and out of Emerg at Sicks Kids while the doctor has been on vacation. My daughter does have an appointment with him this week and I am hoping and sure that he will investigate this stomach problem further and help us determinw what the problem may be. Also, the on call doctor at Sick Kids refered to Dr. Sturm as an excellent Paediatrician.  Respond

08/03/08 2 1 3 4 This doctor has limited bedside manner with children. I often feel as though he may as well be assessing a plant rather than a vulnerable child. The office is a huge turnoff. It appears neglected and dirty. The office staff are rude and act as if they are doing YOU the favour by letting you in even after trying to get through busy phone lines for hours. To his credit, Dr Sturm is knowledgeable and I return for his trustworthy assistance despite the above drawbacks.  Respond

15/01/08 4 3 5 5 Over and over again Dr. Sturm has helped us with the health of our three children. He was able to diagnose my son with depression at the age of 11 after his grandfather died. He also quickly diagnosed him with colitis and had him into see a specialist within a few weeks. We feel he is tough when needed but mostley he is wise and full of compassion. We now rely on his knowledge and experience with all our children's health concerns.  Respond

21/12/07 5 4 5 5 The best there is!!! We love Him. We bring all three children and I hope he will be around for a very long time. I'm sure it would of taken much longer for another doctor to diagnose celiac in my child, and for that I owe him everything. Thank-you for caring.  Respond

29/11/07 5 4 4 4 Dr. Sturm is vry responsible and even though my son was born a low birth weight baby i could always count on him for a sound diagnosis. His manner is a little abrupt but he is knowledgeable and gets the job done. I have recommended my closest friends to him and would do so again. His office administrator at Weston is very helpful and always makes an effort to fit us in.  Respond

21/11/07 3 3 3 5 Dr. Sturm is an extremely intelligent and knowledgeable doctor and I have a lot of confidence in his diagnosis, at least so far. I do have concerns regarding his bedside manner. My toddler is absolutely terrified of doctors and Doctor Sturm has done nothing but make the situation worse. I do understand the difficulty and frustration that comes with trying to examine an uncooperative child, but Dr. Sturm's rough and uncompassionate behaviour only aggravates the problem. There are no attempts at sweet-talking or comforting. Basically, "tie the kid down and let's get it over with". Yes, he gets the job done, but his attitude towards our children and us makes us feel disrespected. We are changing doctors!  Respond

10/05/07 4 5 5 Dr. Sturm is awesome. He's been our pediatrician for the last 7 years and I wouldn't think of changing him. We live 1 hour away, but I would travel even further if I had to. He is great with my kids, they trust him and are comfortable with him. He takes excellent care of them and he is always available. Our middle son has an extremely complicated medical history and has been hospitallized for numerous surgeries at sick kids and he's even visited us there while he was in hospital. I don't know of any other doctor who would take time out of their own schedule to do that. He is definatley commited. We love him!!  Respond

22/03/07 5 5 5 Dr Sturm has been my sons’ pedestrian for 6 years and we continue to use him even though we live in Mississauga. He is an excellent doctor and while he moves very quickly he is always on the mark with his diagnosis. Even more importantly when my child is sick and he is completely booked for the day he always manages to squeeze us in. He has gone out of his way for my son, making hospital visit when my son was hospitalized at sick kids and call me at home and work to check on my sons’ progress when he was seriously ill. He is an A+ doctor in my book.  Respond
