July 2018. I was a next day add-on for a heart cath and possible stent, so I had the 3:30 appt. I understood people were staying late for me. I thanked the prep nurses and procedure staff several times. And the prep nurses were terrific. The procedure staff and anesthiologist were awful. In the procedure room, they got me on the table, strapped down my arms so I couldn’t move one at all, and the other arm a little bit. They strapped down my legs, put some large machine 6inches over my face, put the blood pressure cuff on my leg. Then they left the room. All of them. I was in there by myself for over 15 minutes. I hard the blood pressure cuff cycle on 3 times. I was in complete panic and tears before they came back in the room. They never talked to me except to give me orders to move my arm or flex my hand. I never met the doctor. He didn’t introduce himself to me. I had tears running down my cheeks from anxiety. Then they put me out. I came to 20 minutes later back in recovery. It was the worst surgical experience of my life. I will never go back to Upstate Cardiology or St Francis hospital downtown ever again. I gave them a 3 rating for knowledge as I guess they knew what they were doing, but I’m not really sure since I talked to no one, and no one called me at home the next day to see how I was doing. Such awful, uncaring people there.
