08/07/14 5 5 5 5 Dr Walton has magic hands. I faced having an implant with great trepidation because I had heard so many horror stories. The implant was one of my better dental experiences. I had the tooth removed and the implant and crown on the same day with relative ease . I did not need a larger scale more expensive bone graft. I had literally a painless procedure . Dr Walton is the best and I will never again be nervous of an implant. Thank you Dr Walton.

29/06/14 5 5 5 5 I was required to have gum graft surgery earlier this year. Before doing so, I met with Dr. Walton for a preliminary appointment to discuss the procedure. He was very knowledgeable and courteous and answered all of my questions very thoroughly. I decided to go ahead with the surgery which was performed in April. I had grafts done on two areas of my gums. The procedure was relatively quick and was done with care by Dr. Walton and his assistant. Following my procedure, Dr. Walton very thoroughly explained how to use the prescribed medications, how to look after my mouth during the healing process and what to expect in regards to pain and discomfort. My mouth was sore for about a week after the surgery, but the medications eased the pain and I was still able to eat with relative ease and function normally. I am very pleased with the results and am glad I went ahead with the graft. Dr. Walton is a highly skilled and professional periodontist and I would certainly recommend him to others.  Respond

26/06/14 5 5 5 5 I had an infected tooth last year that just would not heal. Without any insurance I was reluctant to extract and start the implant process. Dr. Walton was extremely patient and saw me monthly to check in to see how I was doing. Eventually I knew I had to go for it and he was great at taking me through the process of extraction and bone graft. After that he was very helpful in explaining the necessity of protecting the bone graft by starting the implant process. He's been helpful by providing advice and information and letting me take the time I needed to make decisions and save for the treatments. Each procedure went smoothly with very little pain and I was impressed with his email check-in the next day. It was an unexpected opportunity to ask questions and he was very reassuring. I had thought about trying to find a less expensive dentist for my implant and I decided not to because of that high level of service and availability. You would be in good hands with Dr. Walton.  Respond

26/06/14 5 5 5 5 I had visited three dentists before consulting Dr.Walton for potential bone grafting and tooth implant surgeries, but what set Dr.Walton apart from the others was his passion for what he does and his vast knowledge on the subject. As someone who is wary of even the simplest of fillings, bone grafting had initially seemed too daunting to process for me. However, Dr.Walton's confidence and knowledge encouraged me to proceed with the bone grafting surgery the very same day as my consultation! After the procedure, Dr.Walton remained in consistent direct contact with me through email to ensure my recovery process was going smoothly and answered any queries I had immediately. With regards to my tooth implant surgery, the procedure was very quick and I felt no pain at all and so left the clinic with a smile on face!  Respond

28/03/14 5 5 5 5 I am a senior who recently had 3 implants and gum graft surgery. I have little courage when it comes to dental work so I had to have it all done at once or my courage would have failed me. I must admit the procedure was amazingly quick, efficient and relatively painless. I had a sore mouth for a few days but prescribed painkillers worked. Dr. Walton is the best periodontist I have had do my dental surgery and I am very grateful for his expertise and concern for my welfare.  Respond

19/02/14 5 5 5 5 I recently had a graft done with Dr. Walton and just wanted to share the positive experience I had. The procedure did not take long at all and I was able to go straight to work after the procedure and didnt miss a minute. I followed his directions and took the drugs that were prescribed and I felt little to no pain during the healing process. I hope this helps your decision as well as reassure you that this procedure does not have to affect your daily life.  Respond

08/02/14 5 5 5 5 It is with deep appreciation to Doctor Philip Walton that I write this note to anyone who is agonizing over having work done on their mouths. Dr. Walton is: highly gifted, respectful, confident, at ease in his work, humble (he never told me he was a Harvard graduate),patient, obliging, and decent. (He noticed that my mom was feeling anxious for me so he went over and hugged her.)I had a bone graft and it was completely painless; less than that of having a tiny splinter removed from a thumb. There is no discomfort after either as I had feared there would be. His staff are fond of him, and he is just plain nice! He gives the patient ample opportunity to speak and his e-mails during and after are very well appreciated. It comforts me so much to know that we have him on side for any future work. I would highly recommend Doctor Walton to everyone, but especially the squeamish and the procrastinators. Finally, it was the dextrous, compact and non-intrusive way he had which impressed me.  See Responses

05/02/14 5 5 5 5 I chose to have my gum graft done with Dr. Walton based on his RateMD review. I was not disappointed! His work was fantastic, which meant that my post-surgery healing process was much less painful. He took the time to answer all my questions and alleviate all my (many) concerns about my (first) surgery (ever). He even personally followed up (via email) to see how I was doing! I was extremely happy with my choice. Thanks RateMD!  Respond

17/12/13 5 5 5 5 Let me start by saying I am terrified of even going for a regular dental check up so the thought of having to get a sinus lift and implant was something I struggled with and put off for more then 5 years. From the day I first met Dr Walton he and his staff made me feel at ease about the whole thing. They walked me through everything and in terms I understood and were sentitive to my anxieties. Looking back I have no idea why I was so frightened. Dr Walton was able to do a sinus lift and insert the post all in the first visit. He explained what he was doing every step of the way. As for pain or discomfort I had non during or in the days following. He also followed up the next day to see how I was doing. For something I was told would take up to a year to have fully completed by others my procedure was completed in under 3 months. I would look no further if you need a periodontist. He was simply amazing with everything!  Respond

04/12/13 5 5 5 5 After consulting my dentist due to problems arising from a crown that had fallen out, I was referred to Dr. Walton for a bone graft and dental implant procedure. I am (at best) a reluctant client when it comes to most dental procedures, however I found the entire experience exceedingly manageable thanks to Dr. Walton and his staff. They addressed all of my concerns and eased my worries, helping to make the whole process fast and (relatively) painless. Everything was patiently explained from the initial consultation to the last follow-up. Dr. Walton was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, efficient and kind throughout the entire process. If in future I needed further work done I would not hesitate to go back to him or to recommend him to my friends and family.  Respond

01/10/13 5 5 5 5 I had gum surgery done by Dr. Walton on a back molar in September. I was nervous, at first, but in the end found the procedure to be quite easy. This was due, in part, to the fact that Dr. Walton explained what he was doing every step of the way, kept me informed of the time remaining for different parts of the procedure, and consistently asked whether I was comfortable. I felt that he had considered the patient's perspective --what a patient would like to know during the surgery and how this would make the experience easier. I also appreciated the advice to 'get ahead of the pain' by taking the painkillers early and regularly. As a result, I felt little pain. Dr. Walton phoned to see how I was doing later that day - an example of great patient service.  Respond

15/08/13 5 5 5 5 The weeks leading up to my extraction, implant and bone grafting surgery ALL scheduled on the same day was absolutely petrifying. I have phobias about needles and the procedure I was about to face was terrifying. I explained to him about my fear with this procedure noticeably shaking, I’m certain. Instantly he realized my concern and took time to totally explain the entire process. Initially it was difficult for me to accept that all of this work about to be done was not going to be painful and uncomfortable but true to his word, it was completed with minimal discomfort. He kept asking me if I felt any distress at every point in the treatment. There was NONE. His obvious concern and caring was most reassuring and comforting knowing that here was a periodontist who had total empathy for their patient. To my absolute amazement I received an email the same day of my procedure asking how I was feeling along with some further suggestions on dental care over the coming weeks. Top Marks !!  Respond

16/07/13 5 5 5 5 I had scheduled an alloderm gum graft with Dr. Walton but following a misunderstanding/miscommunication with the office, what was planned was a graft using my own tissue. Dr. Walton understood my fear of a ''traditional'' gum graft and explained in great detail the benefit of using my own tissue. He gave me the option of rescheduling if I really wanted to have an alloderm graft and he apologized profusely for the miscommunication. He didn't pressure me in any way and wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the procedure I would choose. Dr. Walton was very professional and patient, which reassured me a great deal. I decided to go ahead with the planned procedure and it went really well! Dr. Walton followed up the next day to see how I was doing. I had a small concern a week after the procedure and sent an email to Dr. Walton and he responded minutes after, which is amazing! I wouldn't hesitate to refer Dr. Walton or return to him myself (but hopefully, I won't need to!).  Respond

27/05/13 5 5 5 5 I got a gum depigmentation/gum bleaching done on my upper gums, this is to lighten the colour of my dark gums to a pink colour. I've had alot of difficulty finding a surgeon to do this procedure as most didn't even know what it was. I contacted Dr. Walton's office at the staff was extremely helpful, appt booking was within one week. My consultation with Dr. Walton was very comforting as he explained many different options to pursue for this procedure. He even offered to help me look for other surgeons who may have different techniques or knowledge on the procedure. We decided on an abrasion technique so no surgery was involved. The appt was 1 hour, got in on time, felt very comfortable in the hands of Dr. Walton and little recovery time. I am VERY happy with the results, and was completely satifised with Dr. Walton's expertise, skill and compassionate nature in helping me with this issue. Will be getting the bottom gums done in a few months and I'm very excited.  Respond

25/05/13 5 5 5 5 Dr. Walton recommended gum graft surgery for three teeth. I did some online research, but figured it was better not to read other people's horror stories. This review is intended to reassure anyone considering this procedure. Three teeth took about 60 min. He had Advil waiting when I arrived saying he was all about getting ahead of any pain - good. Prescriptions included a pain killer, an anti-inflammatory and an antibiotic. I asked for gas - no problem. I was well frozen. Rouba, the surgical assistant, was great. They checked in to make sure I was comfortable throughout. Afterwards there was a little swelling, but very little pain. The following day Dr. W checked in via email and reminded me to continue taking the Ibuprofen. For the next two weeks the stitches were a little bit annoying, but not painful. Follow the instructions: antibiotics, rinse and don't poke around to see what he did. Two weeks later the stitches came out no problem. Dr. W. did a great job. Highly recommend.  Respond

01/05/13 5 5 5 5 Dr. Phil Walton is simply the best Periodontist in Toronto. I would have to leave the room at dinner parties if some even mentioned tooth extraction for fear of fainting on the spot. My fear was very strong. There is much more to dentistry than just fixing teeth. Dr. Phil understands that fact. His energy convinced me that he was going to get that tooth out without hurting me at all and I believed him. Out it came, no pain killers, no infection, no worrying afterwards as he kept in touch via email which was so considerate. I would recommend anyone considering a visit to a periodontist check out Dr. Phil Walton and his staff and the wonderful offices that make you feel like you are visiting the spa.  Respond

23/04/13 5 5 5 5 I was in need of a gum graft due to receding gums. I put it off for over a year because I was so anxious/afraid from all of the horror stories I heard. I finally managed to suck it up and go for the surgery a couple of weeks ago. Dr Philip Walton at Queen St Dental Centre (in Leslieville) did an incredible job! I informed him of the anxiety I was feeling before hand and he was very understanding and was constantly making sure I was okay during the procedure. It was quick and painless and I felt no pain whatsoever in the weeks following. If you hear a horror story about a gum graft experience, my guess is that they didn't have a good periodontist. Following the procedure, Dr Philip Walton not only gave me his email and direct number in case I had questions/concerns but also took the initiative to follow up with me a couple days later to see how it was healing. A+++ I highly recommend him!  Respond

10/04/13 5 5 5 5 Philip Walton is friendly, helpful and extremely skilled and confident. He removed a previous root canal and inserted an implant in one session with speed, skill and minimal discomfort. I was told to expect swelling, pain and bleeding for which I received detailed instructions, prescriptions and comfort. In fact, I had almost no swelling, minimal bleeding and very little discomfort following this very complex procedure. I have every confidence in his professionalism, skills and genuine concern for the wellbeing of patients fortunate enough to use his services.  Respond

25/12/12 5 5 5 5 Due to acute receding gum, I had major surgery which was performed by Dr. Philip Walton. Had my previous dentist advised me of the severity of my receding gum, I would have had the surgery many years earlier. Nevertheless, Dr. Walton promised to do his best to correct the problem. I've checked with a few people who had similar surgeries and heard nothing but horror stories. I opted to have the surgery instead of losing the teeth in that area and am so happy that I did. Dr. Walton was very thorough and patient, advising me all along during the procedure what stage he was at, how much longer, etc. Within an hour it was all over and I felt fine. I had absolutely no pain during the recovery period and was able to eat without any discomfort. Most important, Dr. Walton kept checking on me via phone and email, unlike other dentists. Two weeks later, I had my check-up and Dr. Walton was very impressed with my progress. I can hardly wait for my next three similar surgeries. Thanks Dr. Walton!  Respond

19/12/12 5 5 5 5 I had a severe gum recession in 9 teeth caused by wearing braces when i was a teenager. I knew that i had to do something in order to not to loose my teeth. I started to look for the best doctor on the internet and I was lucky to find Dr Philip Walton. When i met him in person, he gave me the impression of being a very confident and knowledgeable Doctor. I just knew in my heart that I was in the hands of a great Doctor. Due to the fact that my procedure was going to be very extensive and invasive, Dr Walton decided that it was best to perform the surgery by using donor tissue instead of taking them from my palate. It has been just less than two months after the surgery and the result is incredible!. Not only I took the donor tissue as if it was mine but also my gum grafts are healing very well and according to the Doctor, with time they are going to look even better. I just can not wait to see the final result!! From the bottom of my heart..Thank you for being such a great Doctor!!

13/12/12 5 5 5 5 I had avoided getting an implant for 30 yrs because I'm a chicken when it comes to Dental work. A friend of mine referred me to Dr. Walton where she had the same procedure I needed done, the missing tooth was even in the same place. All her praise for Dr. Walton was spot on. He is very personable and caring as well are his staff. His assurances were confirmed when after the procedure was completed I felt no pain, and didn't even have to use any pain medicine afterwards. I healed quickly and regret having put off the procedure as long as I did, but I'm very happy now with my new tooth and smile. If anyone requires an implant they should definitely see Dr. Walton.

11/12/12 5 5 5 5 My experience with the tooth implant was a seamless one. This was due mainly to Dr. Walton. He takes the time to make sure you totally understand what will be done & is more than concerned for your comfort. There was no pain in the process. Dr Walton called me at my home the evening after the procedure to make sure I was doing fine; I was very impressed with his concern. The process for implants is a long one however Dr. Walton’s care & concerns carries through to the end. I recommended him to a co-worker who also had an implant done by Dr. Walton. He will certainly be my "go to guy" for any further implants or periodontal work I may require.  Respond

09/12/12 5 5 5 5 I was recently introduced to Dr. Walton and informed by him that a front tooth needed to be extracted due to infection. He showed me Xrays of the infected tooth and explained to me that the teeth either side would be affected if it was not removed. I agreed to have the tooth removed and Dr. Walton then gave me several options as to how to deal with the missing tooth, plus a cost associated with each option. I decided on an implant, and I am very pleased with the results. The whole procedure of removing the tooth and implanting a post was done in just over two hours and was quite painless, and I was constantly informed about what taking place. I would highly recommend Dr. Walton to anyone requiring dental work  Respond

10/11/12 5 5 5 5 Irecently had a soft tissue graft for receding gums. Having had this procedure done many years ago, I was a bit nervous. Dr. Walton thoroughly explained everything and gave very clear written instructions. My results were excellent. I highly recommend Dr. Philip Walton.  Respond

30/10/12 5 5 5 5 I developed gum recession due to excessive brushing, and had two gum graft procedures to correct the situation. My situation intensified over the years. I was no longer able to procrastinate and therefore had a consultation with Dr. Philip Walton. He reassured me that his techniques and practices are more modern and reliable. I accepted his offer and had the procedure at his office. The outcome was indeed very positive. I now have the roots of two teeth completely covered with transplanted gum tissue. I objectively acknowledge that I experienced very little pain during my recovery and I safely recuperated in about a week. Since I have only known Dr. Walton for a short period, it is not possible for me to impartially endorse all of his services, but I do openly recommend him to individuals contemplating gum graft to address gum recession issues. My experience with him has produced the desired outcome, and I have made a commitment to engage him as my periodontist going forward.  Respond

11/08/12 5 5 5 5 Dr. Walton is an amazing doctor - super nice, very attentive, cares a lot about his patient (that's me - can't talk for others - hence 'patient' as opposed to 'patients')during and after the treatment, and if this was not enough... HE WORKS LIKE AN ARTIST. I've had gum grafting procedure done on two of my teeth: Throughout the procedure (which lasted about 30 minutes)I haven't experienced any sort of pain. I've also used the prescribed pain killers for the following week, and simply cruised along without any discomfort. If you need to have gum grafting, I would STRONGLY urge you to contact Dr. Walton. And one more thing: Consider the fee as an investment in your mouth to keep your teeth healthy and together for the long haul.

03/05/12 5 5 5 5 I've had two procedures done by Dr. Walton 6 months apart, and both times turned out extremely well. His communication skills are superb - he tells you what he's doing, sets expectations for the healing process and gives you a written post-procedure information sheet to summarize everything he's already gone through with you. He also called me about 2 hours after each surgery to see how I was doing! I've never been kept waiting for more than a few minutes before any of my appointments - although, I wouldn't have minded since they have People Magazine. Dr. Walton answers all my questions and concerns, and I've not left an appointment feeling unsure of what comes next. There has been no bruising or swelling and no pain either time. Dr. Walton, simply put, is very, very exceptional at what he does. I'm lucky to have him as my doctor.  Respond

Dr Walton extracted a tooth and placed an implant for me which included bone grafting - I was VERY nervous about this procedure and had always refused to even consider such a procedure - however Dr Walton answered all of my questions and presented the pros and cons of placing an implant.
