I saw Dr Kavanagh during the most difficult period of my teenage and early adult years. She is an exceptional doctor, understanding, thoughtful, and never rushed. She gave me the space I needed during each consultation. I left her care with genuine regret, wishing I could continue under her guidance. Many of the one star reviews, if you read them closely, come from people with unrealistic expectations who rejected what they needed simply because it was not what they wanted. I would love the opportunity to have her as my psychiatrist again.

Absolutely disgusted with her lack of empathy towards my sister who was in mental health at sutherland hospital. She discharged her after 3 nights and 24 hours of medication change saying she is better off at home even though she is suicidal. I picked her up and am currently at st George hospital getting her admitted. I do not understand how cold and and uncaring one human can be to another especially with a degree. I have been seeing Dr Kavanagh on and of for a couple of years now.Last Thursday things got to breaking point and I overdosed on Panadol osteo .It took Dr Kavinah almost a week to bother to come up to the ward and see me, even then she did nothing my medication was not reviewed.I was up on the medical ward for 5 days and the psyc ward for two days .Both Dr Kavinah and my Psychologist Wendy Smith were aware that Once discharged, I would be going home on my own with out supports in place as the ndis and my support coordinator had yet to organise supports for me yet Dr Kavinah and my Psychologist in the “wisdom that it was ok to send me home.Would not recommended Dr Kavinah

Dr Kavanagh is an authoritarian who makes arbitrary, knee jerk decisions which have greatly affected my life in a negative way. I am an able and independent adult, yet Dr Kavanagh decided to BREAK CONFIDENTIALITY and discuss my treatment WITH MY PARENTS. On other occasions Dr Kavanagh refused to answer general questions about the medication I was taking on the basis that it would "encourage me to change the dosage". I wonder why Dr Kavanagh thinks that I bothered to seek her advice, only to change the dosage without reference to her. She does have a very nice manner, she is interested and polite, and it is very flattering to have someone pay so much attention to you. However, buyer beware, don't give out your parents phone number!
