24/06/14 5 5 5 5 Not sure why all the negative ratings. Saw Dr. Wong last year for my colonoscopy (without consultation which I opted for) and had it done without sedation. The nurse at the hospital stated that if it was any other doctor she would recommend sedation as she has had other doctors perform the procedure on her and Dr. Wong is the best. Dr. Wong was gentle and explained everything to me as her performed the procedure. Today my 81 year old mom went to see him for a consultation. Yes he does look at his computer because that is where the information is. He is only interested in the facts and asked only pertinent questions. He provided a thorough explanation and examined my mom. The procedure has been scheduled. My mom thought he was great and she has seen many doctors in her lifetime. Do not get intelligence confused with arrogance. He is an extremely efficient and highly intelligent doctor who knows his skill well. I would highly recommend him. You are in good hands.  Respond

27/03/14 4 4 5 5 I was referred to Dr. Wong for a colonoscopy. He is a very experienced gestroenterlogist, although a bit cool. He explained the detials to me while in his ofice a week before the procedure. At the hospital while Dr. Wong was performing the procedure, he also asked me that the operation took only 10-15 minutes and comforted me not to be nervous. I finally finished the procedure without under sedation medicine. I walked out of the hospital 15 mintues after leaving the operation room for breakfast. However, the colon preparation a day before the procedure was more tiring than the colonoscopy itself.  Respond

18/02/14 4 2 1 1 My goodness what a HORRIBLE experience (Rude and Arrogant) he spends more time looking at his computer with no interest on what you have to say 'no personal skills.' I was angry and frustrated after the visit what a waste of time. I contacted by GP and asked to be rescheduled with a different specialist.  Respond

05/10/13 1 2 1 1 Dr Victor Wong is THE most arrogant and burnt out doctor I have ever met in my life! He never looked at me when he was firing off questions and remained focused on his computer screen. I found out that his receptionist gave me the wrong info and I could only get the colonoscopy done and not the gastro copy when I was at the hospital. Dr Wong did not once come over to see before the procedure and just told me that he will not be performing the gastro copy when I was being wheeled into the OR. I complained that I was not given the right info and he defended his assistant. He gave me the sedation just before the colonoscopy and it was quite uncomfortable. He just walked passed me (ten feet away) when I was recovering and told me everything looked good and his assistant will call me to reschedule the gastro copy without even stopping. I will not let him touch me with a ten foot pole. Dr Wong is a disgrace to his profession and frankly he should have been a coroner instead.  See Responses

06/08/13 1 2 1 2 His receptionist barely speaks English and is hard to understand. He is the most brash, rude dr. I've ever met. He gave us no information aside from"your liver is shot" and "most people with cirrhosis will die from kidney failure." My husband is an alcoholic but deserved more respectful advice than a death sentence. I asked about confusing and memory problems and was told it's his liver. I knew that, I needed help understanding what lay ahead. Husband decided he may as well drink a beer and die then I guess. He's now in hospital unaware of what's around him. All I needed to know was that there was a medication that might help. The hospital has him on it now and it may or may not work but if we'd known he could have been on it weeks ago. It's his own fault he got to be an alcoholic but it is a disease and deserves to be talked to like a human being, not like some lowlife the dr doesn't give a**** about. Going to him is the worst mistake we ever made!!!!

03/12/12 3 1 1 4 I am not sure the medical association or whatever organization that controls the medical doctors here in BC are fully aware of damages this Wong of a doctor is doing to people. He's so rude, arrogant and unprofessional. Doctors like this should be taking care of animals and not humans. I hope the regulated body can do something about him very fast because he is indeed a disgrace to the profession.  Respond

09/11/12 1 2 1 2 Dr. Wong is a terrible doctor. Request for a new doctor if you get him. My mom needed an endoscopy. She is terrified of the procedure as she has had bad experience with not getting sedatives after asking for it. She asked me to make the request. When I repeated the request to Dr. Wong, he impatiently replied "she already asked me 4 times" and took her away. 5 mins later, she was pushed back VERY UPSET, bawling and in a terrible physical state. My mom told me that Dr. Wong had pushed her forcibly to her side when she was fragile from blood transfusion and being on IV drip the entire night. A few secs after giving the sedative, he shoved the tube in her mouth and down her throat in seconds. She was unprepared, and in pain and shock the entire time. When confronted, he was arrogant and blamed my mother for being too "anxious" and told me "it shouldn't hurt" when he shoved a tube down her throat 2 secs after given the sedative! He is rude, uncaring, and doesn't seem to have empathy at all.  Respond

03/07/12 2 2 1 2 My mom was referred to Dr. Wong for a colonoscopy and it turned out to be the worst experience in her life (she has had the same procedure done a couple times before and none was like this). My mom is 67 years old and had previous operations done around the abdomon area. He never asked her if she wanted a sedative for the colonoscopy and proceeded without one. She was in so much pain that she actually screamed out loud (and she has a very high pain threshold tolerance). Only then was she given a sedative. After the procedure, her abdomon area hurt for two days and the night after the procedure, she woke up shaking as she was in so much pain. Bedside manner of Dr. Wong was next to none. He was rude to her at the initial appointment and abruptly cut her off as she was not answering his question, she was told. If you were referred to this doctor, ask your GP for another one. No one should ever go through the pain my mother went through, especially for such a simple procedure.  Respond

29/05/12 5 5 5 5 Had a colonoscopy in May, without sedation as per my request. Bearable discomfort i.e. Bloating in the bowl, but very quick procedure only take 30 minute, then drove home myself. Dr Wong is very professional and knowledgeable, and skillful at running the endoscope. Again, no pain just bloating. Btw,you can still have sedation as needed during procedure. Would rcmd this Dr.  Respond

10/12/11 1 1 1 1 I had an upper endoscopy done at this hospital with him and it was the worse experience in my life. He gave directions so fast and did not give me a chance to respond or ask any question and tied the mouth piece on my face so I couldn't speak. I was confused and scared. He sprayed the anaesthetic in my mouth and asked me to swallow and the next second he stuffed the big tube down my throat. He did not even wait for the anaesthetic to take effect, that meant I gagged like crazy and it felt horrific....I kept on gagging and tearing up. It was painful and awful! He should at least wait at least a couple minutes for the spray to take effect before shoving it down my throat like I was some kind of animal. I would say he is very cold-blooded and inconsiderate. It was nothing "sweet and short" like the nurses say when I came out that room. They should really try it themselves. It was the worse experience in my life!!!  Respond

17/11/11 3 2 1 1 I was referred to Dr Victor Wong by the ER doctor at Richmond General. While I was waiting in the reception area, a father and son went into his office. Barely 5 minutes later, they exited hastily, the father very angrily muttering under his breath. Dr Wong then motioned me into his office, did not greet me, told me to sit down, looked at my chart from the ER dept and asked why I referred to him. I told him the ER dept advised the chest pains I was having was not a heart attack; they said it was likely gastric & and that is why I was referred to Dr Wong. While I was telling him this, he was looking at his wristwatch, as if he had to leave a hurry. He then did a hasty examination of my abdomen, said he thought there was nothing wrong, and left the room. When I stumbled upon the RateMDs site, I found out I was not the only patient he treated with disdain and comtempt. This quack should not be a doctor, he shows no empathy whatsoever for his patient.  Respond

27/08/11 2 3 1 1 This doctor needs to find a new profession as he clearly is in the wrong one. I agree with everything that everyone said regarding this unprofessional doctor. I was not surprised to see his office was empty. Do take the time to find another doctor, you deserve better than anything he can offer you. You may have to wait longer to see someone, but it will be worth it. He presents very poorly and is not worth the time or energy and he is not interested in you either. I am taking the time to find a new specialist.  Respond

22/08/11 3 4 2 2 I got totally an aloof feeling from this doctor. He never looks at you when talking. He just looks at his computer monitor during the whole consult. Luckily, I was only there for a quick consult and a routine colonoscopy in the hospital later. His colleague at the hospital had a much better bedside manner. I was happy to see Dr. Wong so quickly after my GP's referral, but if I had something serious, I would ask for a different specialist.  Respond

16/08/11 4 4 1 1 It was waste of my time. He had his mind made up before he even listen to me what I had to say. I can write a long story here about this doctor's inabilities, but I'll just some it up (Arrogant, insulting, rude, I know it all!!) I would have been better off going to a voodoo doll doctor. This doc-tor is waste of taxpayer's money!  Respond

08/07/11 2 5 2 2 Dr. Victor Wong has the worst beside manner I have ever seen in any MD. He was rude and arrogant and tried to tell me how I was feeling in an argumentative fashion. Barely spoke a word to me and actually scoffed when I directly answered some of his questions. I know he is young, but hey, basic human kindness in the medical profession should be visible no matter what age  Respond
