Dr Korp delivered my nephew over 22 years ago and my first child almost 15 years ago. I had pre-eclampsia and she was ALL over it. She is blunt, but knows what the hell she is doing. She IS in practice by herself, so YES, if a patient is delivering she is going to be at the hospital and not at your appointment on time. Suck it up and deal or find someone who would rather be in the office helping patients that aren't bringing a life into the world while the laboring woman sits in L&D without a doc... Which would you rather have? I'd sit and wait half a day because if it were ME that were in labor, I sure wouldn't want the doc to leave because he or she has patients waiting in clinic!!! Grow up people... Jeez!
Dr. Korp does have some problems but I never saw the horror stories some of these folks have talked about. Of course I only go to her for yearly exams. I never had to wait all that long. And she was usually fairly prompt at getting to me. My biggest complaint about her was that she talks too much. You actually have to interrupt her to ask a question and she talks too fast also, so it's hard to follow her conversation sometimes. She also gets too wound up on certain subjects and starts quoting percentages and averages while you're trying to find the answer to your question somewhere in the mix. She seems to know her stuff and I keep going to her but if someone suggested a really good gyn. a little closer to where I live....I would probably try them to compare. I'm sure part of her "brusqueness" is just her personality. I bet she would be surprised at all these comments. (Maybe if some of these docs WOULD read this, they would change a few things about themselves).
I do not support this doctor. If you are pregnant this is NOT the doctor for you. Her delivery of my child was HORRIFIC. She nearly abandoned me during labor at the hospital and said to contact her when the baby was out(we actually had to contact the charge nurse to discuss getting an emergency OB while I was in labor), she misled my husband and I to believe we needed to be induced when it wasn't medically necessary, she refused to give her professional opinion when I wasn't progressing. She suggested c-sect. or labor for 2 more hours "it was up to me". I was too exhausted (had been laboring for 24 hrs) and opted for a c-sect. Immediately, after the C-sect she ran to my family stating that my uterus had stretched to a millimeter thin from laboring for so long and if I went any longer, lives would have been at stake from a possible uteran rupture. She is irresponsible and very defensive when you ask her questions. DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN UNDER THIS DOCTOR.
I've been a patient for almost 20 years and I am very happy with her services and professionalism
I am currently being seen by Dr. Korp and while her bedside manner is not necessarily compassionate she is honest and will tell you like it is. She will be delivering my first baby, and with some pre-eclamspia scares earlier on she was extremely cautious and treated it very seriously. I think she has a sarcastic sense of humor and so its easily construed for being negative but she and I get along pretty well and again, I appreciate honesty and her being upfront rather than coloring what she says to make me feel better. She does tend to run a bit late occasionally (I've waited at most an hour). But like a previous poster said, she's a private doctor. When she's delivering babies, her office appts run behind. For me, Id rather wait an hour once in a while and have ONE doctor deliver my baby, than be part of a network and run the chance of someone I don't know delivering for me. But if you're not interested in having children under her, then I would look for a gyn and not an ob/gyn.
She and her staff are very rude. If she tries to call you with test results, you better answer, lord forbid you are taking a test. I have tried calling back and she has not returned my call nor my pharmacy's call in over a week. They are also very unorganized, I had to go in for new blood tests because I been "accidentally" deleted from the system. Only go to her if you have a gun to your head.
I used to work for Dr. Korp as a medical assistant. I don't think I can fairly rate her from a patient's standpointm, but I can say that she did book appointments on the quarter hour and we always had patients lined up down the hallway. I thought it was ridiculous. When a doctor does that, they hurry thru exams, don't have time to spend answering a patient's questions, and seem very impersonal, not to mention I feel it's greedy; they seem to want more patients so they can get more money. She seemed very good with her patients, was insistant on their privacy and would keep them draped until even I, as her ASSISTANT, was at the head of the table, but keeping patients waiting for so long was less than professional, in my opinion. I would not enjoy that as a patient.
Wow. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who felt this way about Dr. Korp. Every appt. w/ her ran at least an hour late, if not longer. She was extremely cold and brusque, did not volunteer information unless I specifically asked and always left me feeling like I was an idiot for having questions. One time I needed cryosurgery on my cervix and she made no effort to explain why, what the procedure involved or reassure me in any way. She was my 1st ob/gyn specialist (early 1990s) so I didn't know any better, but I've since had a number of ob/gyn's who are helpful, compassionate and very informative. Glad I know better now.
This doctor delivered my best friends baby. I have never seen anything so horrifying. When my friend didn't dialate fast enough, the doc berated her infront of others. She actually said "Well, I guess you don't want to do this the easy way then." Then she left the room. Maybe she knows something no one else knows but I don't think a woman can make herself dialate. She ended up having a c section because, as the doctor put it, she "isn't trying" Avoid this doc if you want to be treated like a human.
I had Dr. Korp do the same thing - ranting about Politial views WHILE I was spread-eagle on the exam table. She also jumped right to surggical removal of an ovary as soon as she saw a cyst from my scan rather than take the cyst off as i have done before. Not sure if I will return. The waiting time was very long -- up to two hours.
