:) Click to report rating    12/29/09 2 3 4 I've been using Bruce for 15yrs. Excellent doctor and really know his stuff. Only drawback is I live in CT and don't work in NYC anymore, but I still plan to use him. I agree about the office, it could be more effecient

:( Click to report rating    7/3/09 1 1 1 I agree with all other post. The Dr's are knowledgeable but they are overstaffed and under efficient. Once you are there, they are not worth the wait. They overbook all day... Once I thought I was the "first" appointment of the day, I walked in at 8:00 to a full office and still had to wait a half hour. Also they refuse to help you out in anyway unless you come in, wait forever, and fork over your co-pay... even for something as simple as a signature on a form. Save your the time, money, and frustration and go somewhere else!

:) Click to report rating    5/1/09 3 1 5 Great Doctors - terrible office! Always behind schedule and a bit like a factory however they've saved my life (really) twice by getting me to the right people quickly. It's worth the wait!

:) Click to report rating    4/28/09 1 1 2 The worst office I have ever been to. Dr. Yaffe is a very good doctor but it is very difficult to deal work with his office. There are many other very good doctors with a much nicer staff. He is not worth the trouble.

:| Click to report rating    4/10/09 2 1 3 You can do better. I agree, Dr. Yaffe does have a rather large ego. I think he's a smart man, but he is too concerned about his "celebrity" status than an average patient. And, if you do need to go into the hospital, don't count on him ever coming to see you..because he won't. Of course, unless you're a celebrity! The whole practice is a little bizarre to me.

:( Click to report rating    2/20/09 1 1 1 You hardly ever see a senior partner in this practice, and the wait times are outrageous when you do. There quick turnover with jr MDs and PAs results in no one really knowing your case and definitely not you as a person, forget that! A recent 45 minute wait when I had an APPOINTMENT and was so ill that I ultimately was hospitalized, and the fact that I was misdiagnosed for the condition that ended me in the hospital ended years of mistreatment by this practice. I switched all my doctors, GI and PCP out of that hellhole. PS, he is such a publicity hound (see clips in his ofc) that it's hard to say he's in demand or just a vain, inadequate multitasker whose patients suffer for his bottom line. This is nothing but a high end emergency room with a very unsophisticated triage. *******************S*T*A*Y A*W*A*Y**********************

:) Click to report rating    2/9/08 5 3 4 I agree with the last poster that Yaffe & Associates may not be the best option for everyone. That said, I have had great experiences and appreciate the office's efficiency. I have seen Dr. Yaffe personally (and several other Doctors in the practice) and found him to be knowledgeable, caring and responsive. He even responds to emails. I also love the fact that you can get a same day appointment rather than visiting an emergency room. I have found his office to be a well run shop that provides good service.

:) Click to report rating *  6/23/07 3 4 Most of the comments are accurate, though they result in scores from 1 to 5! It's therefore important to understand exactly what you'll get with the office of Yaffe & Ruden, and then decide if it's what you want. Bruce Yaffe is a really superb gastroenterologist and general practicioner, who is consistently rated as one of the top doctors in New York. But he is also an astute businessman who realizes that throughput is the only way to make money in this age of managed care. As a result, he has created what is effectively a 'factory' for high-end medical care. Between doctors, nurses, PAs and admins, he probably has 50-60 people on staff, and the office handles many different things in-house, and is completely online (including your records). When you see him, he is wonderful, albeit also checking mail and taking calls. The flip side is that he'll take YOUR calls and emails. Waits have gotten rather longer than they should be, though. But for affordable quality, he's among NY's best.

:( Click to report rating    6/22/07 1 1 STAY AWAY. I have been seeing this office for years, and have seen an actual doctor MAYBE twice. You see physicians assistants after waiting for 1-2 hours, who have mis-diagnosed more times than I can remember, even once sending me to the hospital with a serious infection due to his offices incompetence. Go elsewhere, seriously.

:) Click to report rating    6/8/06 2 4 Dr. Yaffe is an expert in his field, and so he's in very high demand, which means he's rarely if ever on time. Most of the work at his practice is farmed out to their staff of excellent PAs, which I don't mind as it makes the visit faster, although a bit impersonal. When I do see Yaffe, while he seems too busy to spend much time, he is very thorough and his diagnoses are very trustworthy. I would recommend him as an excellent doctor, as long as you don't mind waiting and don't mind that he doesn't have a lot of time.

:) Click to report rating    11/30/05 3 5 Dr. Yaffe does sometimes check email and stuff during my apt but he never stops talking to me and always apologizes. Also, having been one of the people that email him I appreciate his getting back to me.

:) Click to report rating    10/31/04 3 5 Superb doctor, great practice - but figure on a one hour delay and a gatekeeper PA. The PAs are generally good, but Bruce is the brains of the outfit.
