Love Dr. Newman! Knowledgeable, kind and accessible. He is very laid back and positive, and never makes you feel like he is rushing you out of his office or that your questions are silly. His office staff is hit or miss, but he is great, so you take the good with the not so good. As someone else noted, it is a large practice, and not all of the doctors are as wonderful as he (most are fine though), so that is a concern come delivery time. He still loves basketball, btw, and had a fun talk with my husband while I was in the hospital, which provided a nice diversion during the boring (post-baby) hospital hours.

Above rater mentioned that doctors in this practice do not personally "call" you. I have found that they will do so if requested, and, email you virtually the moment lab results, e.g., pap smears, become available. I do not know what the rater means by rushed, as frankly, when labor can last up to 10+ hours, they're entitled to take a few breaks -- Dr. Newman, as I recall, did occasionally run to the nurses' station to watch the NBA playoffs in June 1987 when my almost 21-year-old was born, but honestly, for all 4 of my kids, these doctors are incredibly patient, benevolent, and generous with their time, both for pre-natal appointments and at the hospital. An obgyn is entitled to make a Starbucks run on occasion!

Though none of the doctors in this practice ever call patients to report on results, I like Dr. Newman's style in the clinic and in the delivery room. He is very relaxed and helpful. I just hope that we will see him when we deliver our next kid (as that practice as several obstetricians on rotation). He isn't as rushed as the other doctors in this busy practice.
