I started seeing Dr Bay following my open heart surgery when I realized I was suffering from post heart surgery depression. After the only in person visit he would see me virtually. I always found it unusual when one of his staff would contact me ahead of the visit collect my credit card info for my copay. Not once did they offer to bill my insurance. Regardless, his virtual appointments did almost nothing to help my depression. He only made one slight modification of my medication which hasnt helped. Finally, last week I was unexpectedly called out of town for business the day before my virtual appointment and didn’t recall til early that morning in which I left a VM. His staff called stating that I would be assessed a no-show fee of $125. He stated this was the 2nd time it happened, which I distinctly recall happening but could have sworn I gave him notice ahead of time. When I objected they tried to book me later in the day, in which I told them I wouldn’t be able to accommodate due to my business meetings. Sure enough at 340pm my phone chirped indicating he wasn’t attempting to start a virtual appointment, which I unfortunately wasn’t able to attend. Then two business days later his no-show bill (today) arrived to my house. What’s particularly upsetting is that about 2 months ago my heart stopped while I was sleeping due to A.V block, a side effect of my open heart surgery. I underwent an emergency pacemaker surgery, which set me back in my depression. In my last session with Dr Bay we discussed this and how it impacted my overall mental well being. He knew that I was in a really difficult state of mind. He apparently was more concerned about my no-show and making sure he collected my $125. I will pay that because I signed his up front agreements saying I would. Well Dr Bay …. You won the battle, but you lost the war. Not only will I no longer see you, but I will let my cardiologist who referred me to you know of your unfortunate and aggressive policies.

I have been seeing Dr. Bay for about 10 years or more. He is very professional , knowledgeable and available. He almost always on time and in the occasion that he is not on time he immediately apologizes. He listens to me and I feel like we decide together what my treatment will be. He is knowledgeable about the latest medicines and generics. He explains how the medicine works and answers all my questions. I have complete confidence in Dr. Bay to the point that he is not in network for my insurance cimpany and I don't have any out of network mental health benefits so I pay for each of my visits myself. When I moved to north Carolins for 4 years i still came back to atlanta every few months to see Dr. Bay. The front office staff make mistakes iccassionally but they quickly correct it when I point it out.

I have seen Dr. Bay for several years now and due to his excellence, I have been stabilized for many years. He is kind, compassionate, and is caring toward his patients. He makes sure you get the right help, which for me did not include being prescribed a ton of medicine like other doctors have tried. And when my insurance company wouldn't approve the medicine that had stabilized me, he fought for me. How many people can say that of their doctors? He found the right medicine for me and made sure I got it. His office staff, in particular Joan, is a ray of sunshine.

My experience at Dr. Bays office was exceptional! Dr. Bay is one of the finest psychiatrists in his field, he cares about his patients, and his staff always makes me feel like I'm a person, not a number. I highly recommend this wonderful office!

Condescending and rude. Do NOT go to this doctor when there are far better ones in the area.

I have been seeing Dr. Bay for almost seven years, and his M.A. Joan is the best nurse and office manager I have ever met.

The receptionist Joan is very rude. Why would Dr. Bay keep a receptionist like her at his office.

The lady at the front desk is horrible. Why you would have someone this rude representing a place that promotes mental health is beyond me. I went to Dr. Bay for a couple years and had to start seeing a different psychiatrist due to financial reasons. I could no longer afford the copays and deductible because of a diagnosis of a new illness. I payed on time every time for years and when I left I had an outstanding balance toward my deductible. She chased me for the better part of 6 months for a ridiculously small bill. Threatening to send it to collections every time I missed a $5 payment. The balance was only $20 at the time. She pretty much was a collection agent herself. I don't see why it would have been necessary. There are much more negative things I could write about her actions but I don't feel like going into the details. I have wasted enough energy on this.

The receptionist Joan is excellent, I was shocked to see another patient was unhappy with her. There were other poor reviews regarding the staff, but it's important to note they are old ones and do not apply to her. The only positive thing I can say about Dr. Bay is that he is punctual. He is very arrogant and leaves the impression that he knows everything and the patient should not ask questions about treatment. My counselor, who is a holistic counselor, has encouraged me to meditate for my depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I have been seeing dramatic improvement doing so. EVERY TIME I mention this he tells me I need to be careful because it can cause anxiety. Many studies by reputable sources show this is not true and in fact is effective as meds. When he tells me this, I ask if he bases this on ONE study. His response, " good point, I THINK it's more". My husband only saw him 4 times and quit. I only stayed with him because he was 5 minutes from my home. Now trying to find a new one.
