***CAUTION***I had a total hip replacement surgery with Dr. Stuart Fischer. He appeared confident and arrogant; thinking his knew what he was doing. As a result, an intended 1.5 hour surgery, I spent over 7 hours in surgery with him for a "simple" hip replacement. I spent 4 more days in the hospital with high heart rate and not able to walk as he suggested I would. He released me and I had issues with the home therapy. During a follow-up visit later in the week to his office, I informed him of my issues and he did NOT even do an x-ray (which he has a machine in his office) to determine the issue. He said it was normal. 3 days later, on a Sunday night, by no fault of my own, my hip dislocated. After call ing him 4X, he finally answered and he said to go the ER. I did. It turns out, not only did the hip dislocated, but the cup where the hip was attached pulled out as well. He knew it was going to happen. I was admitted to Overlook hospital at 2:00 in AM and Dr. Smith did not even come to see me until after his business hours.at 6:30 PM that Monday evening; after being on meds for the extreme pain I was in due to his negligence. He "attempted" to fix it, but could not. After, he was going to transfer me to where "he sends all his issues" to Hackensack Medical. Due to the lack of trust and his incompetence, I would not go by his recommendation as we know it was a cover for his incompetence. We were fortunate to find another surgeon in network who would take on my case. After being in the hospital, with no fix by Dr. Fischer, for 2 whole days, I was transferred to Morristown Memorial hospital to have another surgeon fix me up. The other surgeon used the term "catastrophic damage". He did not leave that evening until after he performed surgery on me. After 3.5 hours to fix Dr. Fischer's inflicted damage on me, I was finally fixed up right! No issues thereafter. As well, I was recently informed a neighbor utilized Dr. Fischer last year. for hip surgery, As he was being released from the hospital, his hip dislocated in the lobby of the hospital once he put pressure on his leg. I have heard several stories of Dr. Fischer's incompetence. Upon few conversations with lawyer's, they know his reputation. Unfortunately, incompetence and negligence is difficult to prove. It is unbelievable to me, he is still able to practice.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Dr. Stuart J. Fischer and his amazing staff at Summit Orthopedics and Sports medicine (33 Overlook Road, Suite 301). Several years ago when my left hip needed surgery, I went to Dr. Fischer for the replacement and he guided me through the process. So, when my right side started bothering me at the start of this year I knew exactly where to go. Dr. Fischer is a master of his craft and a brilliant surgeon. Everything he explained to me happened exactly as he said it would. Nothing can take the place of years of experience and knowledge. There's a feeling of comfort that comes with his expertise and confident manner. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Fischer and everyone in his office and could not be happier with the outcome. I highly recommend him to anyone who is seeking help or consultation with any related ailment.
Could not be more happy with the results of my TWO knee replacements over the past year. Dr. Fischer and his staff made the process easier than could have been expected and the Overlook Medical Center is the best hospital that I have been in (unfortunately I have been in quite a few). Dr. Fischer knowledge and his technique for knee replacements have even impressed my physical therapists. Highly recommend Dr. Fischer and Overlook Medical Center.
I recently had a total hip replacement done by Dr. Fischer and it was a excellent experience. I appreciated the time he spent with me before the procedure answering all my questions, as well as his calming demeanor throughout the whole process. Dr. Fischer's office staff is also very thorough and professional as they helped me clear a number of pre-surgical hurdles in this COVID-19 environment. Definitely a five-star experience !!!
Dr. Fischer is an excellent diagnostician, doctor and surgeon who has treated my family for over 40 years. He has treated us for the whole spectrum of orthopedic issues: breaks, sprains, tears and most recently, a total knee replacement. He counsels and treats you as he would a member of his own family. His wonderful staff are very professional and efficient. I highly recommend Dr. Fischer for any of your orthopedic needs.
My longtime orthopedist referred me to Dr. Fischer when I needed hip replacement surgery. I'm so very glad he did. I found Dr. Fischer to be both extremely knowledgeable and very caring. He took the time to explain the surgical procedure in detail and answered all of my questions thoroughly. The surgery itself went flawlessly and I was discharged from the hospital the same day. I've also been impressed with Dr. Fischer's follow up care. When I suffered some problems from some over-aggressive physical therapy, he saw me in his office two hours after I asked to see him for a consultation. He truly cares about his patients. I would recommend Dr. Fischer to anyone needing orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Stuart Fischer is a surgeon amongst surgeons. He did not push me as his patient to immediate surgery instead He provided me options to consider before even discussing surgery and advised that surgery had to be my decision and should be talked about with my family. i discussed it with my family and we weighed my options since I had utilized pain management and physical therapy and opted for surgery. I underwent two total hip replacements seven months apart and it was the best decision I made in choosing Dr. Fischer. He and his staff ensured that I had all the necessary services in place that would assist in my recovery. While I am a little over three month out of my last surgery and close to a year on the initial one there has been such a relief from pain. Did I mention he has a sense of humor also but seriously I highly recommend Dr. Stuart Fischer especially if you believe you would appreciate a physician that provides options if warranted (every case is different) before surgery.
Dr. Stuart Fischer and the Summit Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine(SOSM) staff are phenomenal. I ruptured my left achilles and called multiple offices for my initial check up. SOSM was the only office that scheduled me in immediately. Staff is extremely helpful, overtime they would know me by name. As for Dr. Fischer he’s a great doctor. I previously ruptured my right achillies 6 years ago and had it repaired by another doctor. That technique left a very large scar. Fortunately, Dr. Fischer’s surgical technique to my left achillies minimized my scaring by 50%. Within 4 months I regained my full mobility due to his expertise and technique. Above all Dr. Fisher was a very personal individual who can speak to many topics. I enjoyed our countless conversations about history. Again, both SOSM staff and Dr. Fischer are phenomenal, highly recommend the team.
Dr. Stuart is very knowledgeable in joint replacement and was very thorough and caring during each of my follow-up visits. His sense of humor put me at ease through the whole procedure. Would definitely recommend him to anyone needing to have a joint replaced.
Dr. Fischer performed a knee replacement for me on May 8, 2019. At three months out, I can barely express my delight. I rollerskated first 30 days after surgery and now I have been able to do just about anything I want to: hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, skating, bicycling and I'm even starting to try to run a little. ZERO knee pain. In addition to doing a wonderful job, he always encourages me. He listens to what I say and has always given me excellent information. I love his staff, too. They know their way through the insurance maze better than any other office I've dealt with. I think being a small office in a large organization works great: plenty of personal care but with all of the sophistication available when needed. I can wholeheartedly recommend him for any orthopedic need others might have.
