Ratings for Dr. Tara A. Rakowski
3.8
Dr. Ratkowski falsified my medical records on numerous occasions. I spent two years fighting with the legal department to have my records amended.
Don't be fooled by the average rating, it's only since the staff around, and her punctuality, were good. I went to her for an urgent care visit and while she did what she needed to, the whole thing was rushed and only added to my anxiety about the situation. She seemed constantly frustrated that I wasn't able to keep up with her pace or level of knowledge when I wasn't able to give exact dates. She said I was being a difficult historian, but her attitude just kept making me freeze up at inopportune moments. She helped me understand what was going on and for that I'm grateful, but you wouldn't be able to see her if you have reservations/anxiety about the medical field, or need a good, constructive bedside manner. She could have gotten the same amount of work done had she slowed down and worked with me, not against me.
I have been a patient of Dr. Rakowski's for many years. For the overwhelming majority of that time, I was extremely healthy and would only go to her for annual check ups. She has always seemed rushed and fast-talked her way through the appointment and then seemed to spontaneously disappear from the room. I never cared that much because she was open to alternative/natural treatments and I appreciated that mindset. However, in recent years, I began having a lot of unexplained symptoms and health issues. Still, I never went to her more than a 2-3 times in a year, but every time I left feeling frustrated and rushed through the entire appointment. There were entire appointments when she didn't even make eye contact with me and she would start off my time with her by saying we didn't have much time and then would rush her way through the appointment, cutting me off in mid-sentence. I finally decided to move on last year, but then found out she moved to a different clinic in order to be able to spend more time with her patients. I decided to give her another chance, but after seeing her twice at the new clinic, it's clear nothing has changed. I have tested out other doctors to see who might be a good fit, and not once did I feel rushed with any of them. She also doesn't follow up and has recorded incorrect information in my file over the years that has created challenges for me. It is hard enough to not feel well and to have to expend a lot of time, energy and money to get answers without feeling like you are a burden to your primary doctor. So...moving on.
I've been with Dr. Rakowski for 20 years and I would never consider going to another doctor. She is knowledgeable, understanding, and compassionate. She helped me take charge of my well-being and continues to work with me to achieve the highest level of physical and mental health.
I have been seeing Dr Rakowski for over 20 years, I have my kids see her as well. When I was in school in Stevens Point I would still make the drive to Milwaukee to see her. She is amazing, caring, compassionate. She knows her medicine and is not adverse to alternative treatments like some physicians are. There is usually a bit of a wait to see her but it is well worth it.
I had Dr. Rakowski in my teenage years and early 20s and it was a damaging experience. She misdiagnosed me on a number of occasions. She prescribed me antianxiety drugs when I complained of back pain. She diagnosed me with a syndrome that would've meant I would be obese, diabetic, and infertile. I was freaked out and made a list of questions to ask. When she saw my list she treated me like I was crazy and asked to make a copy of it for my file. I finally got a second opinion and found there was not even a remote chance that I had this syndrome. Over 10 years later I still don't have it or any of its symptoms. She was overzealous, to say the least. My parents remained in her care over all these years until my mom's passing this August. Not only did Dr. Rakowski not show up at the neighboring hospital but she never even sent even a form letter to my father. Completely insensitive to 2 patients she had for 20 years. My dad is now seeing a different doctor. Dr. Rakowski is the worst.
I have had Tara Rakowski as my physician for over 20 years. I have found here to be excellent, caring, understanding and extremely proactive for her patients' health. She is an excellent listener and welcomes questions from here patients. I would highly recommend her
I have been Dr. Rakowski's patient for approximately 20 years. During that time she has been a caring and professional doctor who was willing to take her time and listen. This allowed her to put the pieces of the puzzle together and offer me the best health care possible. Her expertise is unequalled.
Dr. Rakowski was very rude and condascending. She did not listen to my concerns. Afterall i'm the patient; isn't that what's most important? She thinks she has all the answers; very unknowledgeable and Immature. I went to a New Physician.
