I have had years of worsening sleepiness that got so bad I had to quit my job and stop driving a few years ago. I finally got a diagnosis of ADHD and was at least able to function after being put on Adderall. This made a huge difference in my quality of life, but I still had unaddressed medical issues which prevent me from working full time. Because of this, I was unable to continue seeing my psychiatrist. Because I am female and was diagnosed late in life, many providers do not believe I can have ADHD, including my primary care doctor. He sent me to Dr. Dohmeier to see if it would be appropriate to prescribe me stimulants. During our appointment, she made comments like “you don’t have sleep attacks” and “you’re not hyperactive” without any input from me on these issues. She then wrote in her notes that there is no reason I should ever be given stimulants. This is extremely inappropriate. It’s one thing if she does not want to prescribe them, but to say no one should is life ruining. Just to clarify how horrific this is, when I’m not on Adderall I regularly have severe head pain that gets so bad my blood pressure goes up to 200/100 or higher and does not respond to medications. This is dangerous and allowing it to continue when there is an easy solution is incredibly irresponsible.

First visit today with Dr. Dohmeier. She treated us with utmost respect and compassion. Her exam was extremely thorough and accurate. I would highly recommend her.

Was sent to Dr. Dohmeier for a medical issue and instead of examining me she read the notes from the recommending physician into her recorder and then ordered tests for a reason that I was not there for. She did complete a 2 minute exam before the end of the visit.
