4 years ago at 15 I found myself in the Credit Valley ER after I was concerned about my thoughts of killing myself. At this point I has been diagnosed with an eating disorder and social anxiety disorder. The nurses were kind and understand but when Dr. Peltz showed up he turned my world upside down. He told me I was just looking for attention and didnt need any further help. He didnt speak to my parents and we were told my nurses that he discharged me. In May of that year I had overdosed and been taken back to Credit Valley. Unfortunately I found myself having to deal with him again. He told me he remembered me and knew what I was doing. He said that I purposefully only took enough medication to make me very sick, but not kill me. He again discharged me that night, again without speaking to my parents. My parents were for good reason frightened to take me home. Him saying that my eating disorder, anxiety and depression that set in within those months were all for attention made me close myself off and refuse to accept anyones help for fear that they too would say im just looking for attention. Not getting any help landed me in William Oslers Adolesant Inpatient ward for upwards of 3 months nearly a year after my last interaction with Dr. Peltz. I am now 19 and his words still stick with me and hurt me. So much so that I dug through my pile of discharge/other medical papers just to find his name and make sure everyone knows this story. If your child sees Dr.Peltz please get them other forms of help and do not let them close themselves off from the world after seeing him.
We poured out our concerns for our son and this doctor barely listened to us. He just stared off into space and looked imp stormy. At the end of the appointment, he prescribed some meds but that was it. There was no compassion, he never asked how my son was doing/felt. If these are the kinds of unenthusiastic, and unhelpful doctors that med schools are educating nowadays, then the world is a sad place, indeed.
Our daughter has been with Dr. Peltz for 14 years. With Dr. Peltz's help, understanding and advise our daughter has gone from a diagnosis of MID to a learning disability and will be tested this month before enterring university. Dr. Peltz has consistently shown interest in my daughter and has been very helpful to my husband and I. Our daughter feels very comfortable with Dr. Peltz and looks forward to showing him her progress every visit. I would recommend Dr. Peltz to everyone. He tells it like it is. He cannot FIX our kids but he can surely help lead us in the right direction and give our kids the confidence to be the best they can be. NW
A friend of mine attended at the hospital for a crisis situation and was seen by some helpful crisis team members. However, that is where to good service stopped. Eventually he was seen by this doctor who was extremely rude, judgmental and very unhelpful. I was told that he is the head of psychiatry at the CVH in Mississauga, everyone should be concerned. Just because some is injured as a result of being in a car accident does not mean they have ulterior motives to compensation. You are ignorant just thinking that way. It is time to retire Dr because you no longer deserve being addressed as such.
Doctor seemed indifferent to the patient's struggles and constantly checked his watch during the appointment. He makes quick judgements without fully listening to the patient's description of their health, and is adamant about his opinion when contradicted.
I see that many people have had a similarities in their experience with Dr. Lou Peltz. Hold him accountable for his actions. Complain to the CEO (Michelle DiEmanuele) and Patient Relations at Credit Valley Hospital. There is a link on the hospital website, or you can call 905 813 2200 ext 4109, or you can write in and mail it. Each hospital runs as a corporation, and has a board of directors. Hospitals cannot ignore care consistently reported as sub-standard if they are aware of it. I have complained directly to the hospital. One complaint letter can be ignored. 100 cannot. Make his employer aware of problems that you have encountered. They cannot fix what they do not know is wrong.
I've been suffering from clinical depression and anxiety for several years. I went to Dr Peltz and poured my soul out, but he treated me condescendingly and actually chuckled as I was explaining how I felt. He smugly told me that I was going through a "phase". During the appointment, he asked me irrelevant questions that I felt were intrusive and unnecessary. For example, he asked if I had a boyfriend or if I wanted to have a family - I was a teenager at the time and it was obvious my disorder had no link to my non-existent romantic life. At the end of the meeting, he didn't give my family any advice, he just left. It's kind of sad that uncaring doctors like even him exist, because there are patients who really need not only need professional help, but a friend and confidant. Overall, Dr Peltz is pretty unhelpful and not the least bit interested in connecting with his patients.
We went to see Dr Peltz during a difficult time in our life. Our son was having problems with anxiety issues and dr Peltz and his staff were very accomodating and helpful. Dr Peltz went above and beyond and accomodated us during his lunch hours and one day when i called for an advise he gave us a call at home. He has seen our son on weekly basis. My son really likes him, he has a great deal of humor and is treating the teenager appropriately. They get a long very well. His secretary is very proffesional and warm in dealing with sometimes streesed and worried parents,We are very happy with Dr Peltz and would always recomend him to people that need his service. Thanks for reading. A.S.
Dr Peltz is our child's psychiatrist. He is a warm, intelligent, easy-going person. Our child was 10 when he first met the dr. It's been 2 yrs. We have nothing but good to say about him. Our child opens right up to him. Dr. P has given us great sensible advice. We have long unrushed discussions. I am shocked by the negative reviews. We never had him ignore us. We always feel like we have his full attention. He does know a great deal and we value his ideas as they have worked for us. It may not be what we want to hear. He has also given us great advice on advocacy for our child in the school system. I wish I had taken our child to him years earlier. It feels like these negative ratings are for another dr? The staff was fine but they are busy. I have always been treated courteously and professionally. Oh and the office didn't charge me when I needed a copy of something. It's a nice waiting room.
