I worked in the medical field and I have never experienced such a caring, knowledgable professional as Dr. Brian Fitzsimmon's. From the first appointment I felt very at ease and informed with everything I needed to consider. I ended up doing a Laparoscopic Hysterectomy seven weeks ago, and I never felt one bit of discomfort. From my experience he is hands down the best Gynecologist in Vancouver. I would highly refer anyone I know to go see him. As we all know it can be an uncomfortable examination, but Dr. Fitzsimmons has a way of making you feel totally relaxed. Go see him and see for yourself.
He's extremely knowledgable, caring, and professional. His bedside manner is superb, which is a breath of fresh air for a surgeon. He spends time to go over everything with his patients and explains the plan. He even goes 10 steps ahead of expected responsibility to fulfill his professional duties. I had an amazing experience when I ended up going for an urgent surgery. His manner deescalated my nerves !
This was my first time seeing Dr. Fitzsimmons and I was pleasantly surprised at his level of professionalism and expertise. I would highly recommend him to anyone and will be sure to return next time I need to see a gynaecologist.
I LOVED Dr. Fitzsimmons he was extremely helpful, gentle, kind, quick and efficient. He is extremely informative and supportive. I would recommend him to any young girl that would be nervous or have many questions. He is lovely and is kind enough to distract you during any procedure and gets you in and out rather quickly. Simply wonderful.
I found him unprofessional, nothing more to it than that. Other staff was great but he was arrogant and after reading these comments he doesn't have a right to be. I waited 6 months for Dr Selke, only to have my appointment rearranged and not be told it wasn't going to be her. He wasn't very accommodating to the fact I was disappointed to see him instead.
He used laproscopy to get an errant IUD (uterus perforation) out of my partner's abdominal cavity. Apparently it was enmeshed in fat next to the bowel. He told us there was a very remote chance he had nicked the bowel during the operation, and so he provided very clear instructions in case pain increased: go to emergency immediately, and phone him on his cell. He also gave us a 1-page letter describing the operation in doctor-speak to give to the emergency staff in case pain increased. I was very impressed by these actions, because I thought these were very prudent measures to avoid misdiagnosis and wasted time in case of complication. LUCKILY everything worked out fine, and my partner's bowel was not nicked. We were annoyed by the followup visits, seems like inadequate records were kept of the operation, but, heck, he got the job done, and it sounded like a tricky procedure, and I was VERY impressed by his care and attention around possible complications.
