I don't normally write reviews but I was treated so terribly I felt compelled to. I went in to see Dr. Martin for insessint back pain and head pain, which is unusual for me, an active, otherwise healthy 26 year old. She came in, wouldn't look me in the eye, almost laughed when I told her of the pain and then proceeded to poke my back three times with her index finger, declared it to be the result of a cold ( which I dont and didnt have?) and then looked at me impatiently to put my sweater on and leave the room. I was about to say something to her but when I turned around she had disappeared. I would recommend waiting to see an even moderately higher rated GP or to go to a walk in clinic. Truly an awful experience.
Wow I guess I am not the only one who was treated like total carp by this dr. She interupted me twice, got impatient when I explained my problem, and then insisted she needed to see text results from a previous dr that had already comeback normal. When I let her know I was still have the problem she ignored me. She was completely rude. Maybe she should read these comments, might force her to take a good look at herself. She is a terrible dr, and needs to eat since she is likely losing her mind from starving herself. Scary!
Dr Kim Martin is amazing and cares for her patients. I recently took my Mother to see her and she got her on to a Surgeon immediately. It was of great importance. I value Dr. Martin professionalism as GP and commend her on her honour and dedication. Thank-you Dr. Martin.
We recently moved to North Vancouver and were warned not to go to Dr. Martin for the reasons below. However, for convenience and wanting to form my own opinion of her I took my family there. Both my husband and I agree that she is the WORST doctor we have ever had. She just doesn't make you feel that she cares about your wellbeing! She is rude, cold and does not make you feel comfortable to ask questions about her opinion. Most appointments I feel like she is only focused on writing me a prescription ($$$$$). She has poor listening skills and I always feel rushed and steered in the direction she wants. I typically leave her appointments feeling frustrated, angry and wanting to change doctors immediately (if I could only find a good one taking patients).
I was looking for a new doctor and came across dr. Martin. When I went to see her all she could talk about was my weight, which is fine! She sent me for blood work which came back good, kept telling me I needed professional help to lose weight and asked me if I new what a vegetable was. She didn't listen to my symptoms and I left crying from how horrible she is. I am so thankful I found a doctor who cares about me now! She is aweful.
I moved here from the United States. I am on medication that is taken daily. Dr Martin found equivalent medications here in Canada and has me feeling great. Her staff is very patient and helpful. Dr Martin is always on time. Friendly, and she really cares about my health. I have since brought my family to see her and they all like her.
I have been putting off a needed medical test until I can find a new doctor. Martin is the most unprofessional and inconsiderate doctor I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. She couldn't be bothered to acquaint herself with my chart and so asked me the same questions over and over, much of which had no bearing on the reason for my visit. She only cared about my weight, which is not an unhealthy one, so it got very tired, very fast. I was very tempted to comment on her weight, which is very obviously not a healthy one, but I restrained myself. The last straw was her prescription of a drug I am allergic to. Thank god for pharmacists! I can't believe this woman is still in practice. How I wish I knew about ratemds.com before I called her office. It is apparent that I am not alone in my issues with her.
Dr Martin is in a convenient location for me and is rarely late for appointments. However, she prescribes antibiotics for just about everything you come into her office for and never looks past the symptom to what might be going on otherwise. Her bedside manner is at times "okay" but most of the time I'm scared to ask her to explain why she is prescribing antibiotics or why my body might be doing whatever it's doing. I don't think her heart is in helping people anymore but more in the money.
Dr. Martin has been my family doctor for a few years. We have now moved our doctor as she is so rude and unhelpful. She is rude and dismissive to children - scarily so in fact. My children would cry at the thought of going to see her. She once made my little boy sit on the floor in the corner of the room while she examined me, which was humiliating and odd for him. She interrupts when you try to tell her things, has no bedside manner at all and just wants to get you out of there as quickly as possible. Her receptionist is also rude. I called to get a repeat prescription as I had nearly run out of my medication and she said 'Well it's not my fault that you have run out of medication.' ?! Really unhelpful and lacking in empathy. There are better doctors out there - I have now found one. I registered with doctor martin as she was the only female doctor on the northshore who was taking on new patients. I would rather go to a male doctor - in fact any other doctor than see her ever again.
