As a small country hospital, Overlook is OK. The nursing staff leaves much to be desired. We're seldom met with a smile except when registering for out patient testing. Nice but only if you approach them in an overly friendly manner. ER nursing staff, esp CNAS spend more time talking about personal lives than spending time with patients. Other hospitals check on ER patients every 15 minutes to give updates (even if there isn't one) ask if they can get you anything, more patient focused. And they always have a positive happy attitude. These people don't stand a chance of becoming a MAGNET winner. By the way, I was born in this hospital and have continued to use them ONLY because my 91 year old Mom does.

Rude staff. No one turned the heat on in the room. No blankets provided. Nonresponsive staff members. They just wanted me to take pain medications, which I did not need. Thank goodness I was able to go home after one day.

I have been hospitalized several times at Overlook, including one time in the Neuro-ICU after a stroke. In my opinion, this is the best hospital in the NYC-tristate area for neurosurgical and stroke care. The physicians are knowledgeable and caring. The nursing staff are the best and they have all the latest equipment
