Long wait times at the ER. Mediocre ER docs, could be more efficient though. A PAB (nursing assistant) tried to collect a urine sample FROM THE BEDPAN. If I did not stop him, my urine sample would have been completely messed up from all the bacteria on the bedpan, and I would have been put on a cocktail of antibiotics.

Horrible experience! Was sent home after being there for over 8 hrs each day for 2 days at emergency. They had me return on the second day to give me an ultra sound. They told me to come back at 8:00am, which I did they gave me a paper with an appointment for 11:00 am. They did the ultrasound at 12:30pm. I thought not bad. The tecnition told me to wait outside for the results to bring to the doctor. I waited until 2:30 and I asked the receptionist how long will it take. She seemed annoyed and responded go sit down and you will get it soon. Meanwhile I was in a lot of pain. I then realized it was almost 4:00pm I went back to the receptionist, this time to the one on the right side. I proceeded to ask politely, is it possible that my results were mixed up somehow? She replied the results usually take 2 hrs we are a little behind. Then I replied I am in a lot of pain and you are not a little behind. I have been waiting here since 12:30 pm. People that came after me have gotten their reports and left. She responded if you can't wait then we will send it to your doctor by fax. I replied it's not for my doctor it for the ER. She then said wait a little bit longer and if not go back downstairs. I sat back down and waited another 15 minutes. I then saw the two receptionist get up get dressed and leave for the day. There were only 8 patient left. So I got up and proceeded to go back to the ER. Meanwhile, my husband was downstairs looking for me and the nurses in the Er couldn't tell him where I was! While I was walking I felt the blood run down my legs and through my clothing. Thank God I was wearing black and a coat. When I arrived the triag nurse saw me crying and she asked me if I was so and so and I said yes, she then asked me where have you been? And I looked at her and I said where the other nurse send me this morning. She was very nice she took me in her office. She asked me to explain and I did. She then said you didn't have to wait we could get the results through the computer. She placed me in a room and told me the doctor will see me right away. I said I need to go and change my clothing because I was full of blood. Thank God I had extra clothing in my car. Just in case I had to spend the night at the hospital. The Dr came to see me and he asked me if I brought him the report and I tried to tell him what happened, he cut me of and said just answer my question yes or no. So I said no they didn't give it to me. He then said it's ok I got your results from the computer. The wall of you uterus has thicken and You need a biopsi I was given a referral to call at their gynaecologist department for the next day and i was told to go home. I called for an appointmen the next day. The receptionist told me nothing was forwarded to her And that she hadened receive anything with my name. I am home with extreme pain with vaginal bleeding. Meanwhile I am in menopause for a year and half. It's the weekend, so I am waiting for Monday to see if I could get a hold of my gynaecologist who wasn't available last week. By the way I have been bleeding for 13 days non stop. I really don't know what I am going to do if my doctor is not available. The receptionist was nice enough to give me two other fax numbers and she said if no one calls you by next week. Resend the requisition again. Over the years, i have been a patient at this hospital for 3 c-sections, hernia, and tubeligation surgeries and I have never exoerienced anything like this. They spend so much money for this hospital and they don't have sufficient staff. The government is spending our tax dollars on helping all kinds of people, however maybe, just maybe they could try spending more money to help our health system! I have been at the Lakeshore hospital, and the Jewish General several times with some of my family members. They were treated with respect and kindness! I know if I was one of the receptionist that day, I would of gone to the back asked about my report. It would of taken 2 minutes if their time. Because it took 5 1/2hrs the gynocologist left. The doctor who saw me said I am not a gynocologist i can't tell you much, but you need to go get a biopsi! Incredible. By the way I am a very polite and nice person. I was treated with no respect by the receptionist of the ultrasound department in gynocology! I will never allow any of my family members to step foot in the ER of the Royal Victoria Hospital.

A super hospital lol - that's an understatement to say the least. Wait 11 hours in the waiting room and then more hours in the examining room while you freeze - had to put my coat on. Doctor rude and arrogant no compassion for pain and dismisses everything sending you back to GP. Only compassion comes from wandering triage nurse who comes by to see if she can help and measures blood pressure. Cannot believe medical care coming to this - it will only get worse if we don't start demanding better care

Worst Hospital ever!!! Please please don't go there. Their stafff is so rude and disrespectful, I waited for hours in gynaecology unit to see doctor due to an emergency but had to go back without seeing any doc. They make you wait until you die. Would never recommend to anyone.

Worst hospital ever . went for a scheduled ultrasound and waiting 5 hours before being seen.
I was so stressed that the baby felt it and the ultrasound took 1 hour and a half. The doctor was frustrated and made me wait in the room for another 35 minutes. They made a joyous moment feel like torture. On top of all that I was not even able to do my blood work test because they were closed by the time they saw me . My appointment was at 2 and they saw me at 7 . Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!! I wish i could give birth in another hospital
Hate hate hate it > Saint Marys was so much better . Wish my doctor had not retired.

Very bad hospital. Looks like a dirty labrynth dungeon with creep Dracula doctors coming out of their coffins. I felt like I was in a Dracula movie when I had my appointment here and it felt like a Third World Country hospital. This hospital does not meet the standards of a first world nation. Nice to know that our tax dollars are not going to public health care, we kind of knew that but there is so much evidence here at this hospital.

This hospital is a joke or a complete nightmare! Just entering it, it feels like a huge haunted mansion with ghosts everywhere. Creepy. The doctors also look like Zombies as do the nurses. Avoid at all costs!

This hospital should be shut down immediately. I hear only complaints and horror stories coming from the testimonies of patients who, at some time, were treated there. They all say the same things: They were mishandled, ignored, not follow-up-on, treated like numbers, and thrown into circles. One girl with asthma was sent home after being told by a DR in emergency that she should "just drink hot water and lemon." Are you kidding RVH? If your DRs don't want to properly do their jobs, then you will surely see many patients launching lawsuits against your incompetent establishment. Beware!
