My Dr. sent me to the General ER for an emergency mri. He had phoned ahead and spoke with the on call radiologist, I was expected...when I arrived in the ER both nurses at the front desk were on their iPhones and didn't even look up for a few minutes as I stood there. I told them why I was there, they had my info and told me to wait for triage.
I was in a tremendous amount of pain, but waited patiently. The triage nurse (male) called me in. By this time I was nauseous and felt faint, I couldn't even sit up, my face was beet red and my eyes were bloodshot. I had a spinal fluid leak causing horrendous head and neck pain when I was upright, and had severe pain in my back and legs. The nurse knew why I was there, that I required an emergency MRI to rule out cauda equina and other serious neurological events. He was RUDE, UNCOMPASSIONATE and ARGUMENTATIVE. I said I was in a lot of pain and asked to lay down, to which he coldly and flat out refused. There is a bed in the triage room, he refused to let me use it. I was given a wheelchair because I couldn't stand up. He wheeled in harshly into the side of the chair I was sitting in and refused to help me into it. My family member told him I couldn't sit or stand, but he didn't care. I was left for five hours on the waiting room FLOOR. He walked past and said nothing, offering no help. Another nurse came and took my wheelchair away. When I finally saw a Dr. hours later. I was called in, still on the floor, no offer of help to get up or a wheelchair. My family member had to drag me into the room. The Dr. I saw was wonderful and helpful. But he didn't know until my family member told him that my Dr. sent me there...He called my Dr. then came back and apologized, saying that my Dr. explained everything and that I did need an MRI right away. He also sent a nurse in with pain meds. The triage nurse failed to indicate that I had been sent by my Dr. for an emergency MRI, marked me as non urgent, left me in pain and waiting for hours on the waiting room floor. He refused assistance and seemed to take pleasure in the hurt he was causing.
I can only say that I am sickened by this nurse, and disgusted with this hospital.
The care I received was at the standard of a third world country. Congratulations to you, poor excuse for a hospital

I went in because of an adverse reaction to a prescribed med. I have never had such treatment . A nurse actually said.... what do you want me to do??? That instilled confident in me! My heart rate went from 59 to 120 at home... the hospital had no heart monitor attached... they did an ecg...but that would catch it since it only does a short line! She didn't know anything about the med I took... I thought look it up. I would recommend another hospital! I left with chest pains, trying not to hyperventilate and crying... they also gave me ativan...might as well had given me speed...
Go to Toronto if you want good care!

The main ICU unit has some great nurses for one on one care. However when you move to the general ICU ward on the 6th floor it makes you wonder why some people are even in the health care profession. Family member in there for serious injuries required use of bed pan and pain medication had impaired speaking ability when she would ring the chord for help they wouldn't come because they couldn't hear even though they knew of the problems . We had to have family members at the bedside from morning to night. There is a constant push to get patients out of the hospital and back to their local hospital

I watched patients on the cardiac floor, after coming from ICU, ring for service and no one coming to help them. One gentleman was in the bathroom for about 10 min. before anyone came to assist him. This was so concerning, I was afraid to leave my husband over night. He had quintuple bi-pass done on the Tuesday and he came home on the Friday, because he wasn't comfortable being left alone. My husband is only 59, so he is far from old. My concerns are for the older patients who don't have family with them all the time, I seen them waiting for a nurse for lengthly periods of time. This is not exceptable.

Already performing poorly in comparison to other similar hospitals in other areas of the country according to the Canadian Institute for Health Information so why don't we slash another 25 million from the budget and see what happens? Stand back, cause our "world class publicly funded" health care system is now 3rd world

Staff does not give any updates to patient and family, we did not ever see the doctor or talked to one. Mother was said to have UTI, but the bad pan was placed on the dirty floor, then offered dirty to my Mom. Dirty hospital, with no real concern for the patient.

Took this hospital 12 hours to do my ultrasound while i was admitted in the emergency department to later find out that my abdomen was filled with blood

My Dad was admitted earlier this month, and for a hospital, there is no computer access, no comfortable chairs to visit and sit with my dad... Rude, curt, and inhospitable staff, not offering or wanting to care for family concerning meals. The food court is a joke, no 24 hour cafeteria, like most hospitals, just a lunch-shack, from 11:30am to 1:00pm.. no real concern for visitors, except shove the patient in, do the icky-gooey stuff, and shove the patient out, then over-charge, over-bill, and most of the admit staff don't know how to run their own software, very aloof, unprofessional, sugary-coated words, fake insincere smiles, with only your money in mind.. I came to visit to find the nursing staff ignoring me, avoiding me, and house cleaning was cleaning up a mess, to tell me, the Nursing Home staff picked my dad up without calling, no professional attitude, basically, if you are not in the "IN" crowd, you won't get any decent care, treatment, small town hospital, that caters to their local hero, little man has no rights, like most facilities, no food court in plastic narrow chairs, no salad bars, no professional cafeteria staff, like Scott-n-White, but... that's OK.. I was told by the nursing home staff, my Dad had a massive bowl-movement, and the nurses or aide staff, ignored or even avoided assisting the nursing home staff. I was 'told' my dad was soiled at the hospital, and for a U.S. Veteran that tells me, that this town don't care about my dad. They only want dad for his money. :'( Only G-d, Mossad, Jesus (if he really cares, or exists to help in this life..) Karma and any Internal Affairs Cameras or Angels / Demons know the real truth.. I trust G-d / Karma / Mossad will handle this better than me. After losing my mom and my dad being mistreated.... I am glad I got Scott-n-White. :-P

Took my mother there dec 2010 my mother was not able to talk due to stroke 2003 but I was able to talk for mom they ignored all signs that she was gonna have a stroke sure enough she did In front of me I was 8 months pregnant they took their sweet time when she went code blue no one came even tho I was screaming for help took them 2 months to tell me she had not one but two strokes then they were so kind to tell me and my son to get garbage bins because what they were gonna show us was gonna make us sick I was horrified to see what they did to my poor mother her lower back was all rotted out from not turning her every 2 hrs I was so mad how could they do that to her they forced me to sign a DNR against her wishes threatened me with court cause I wouldn't pull the plug on my mother they told me she was brain dead was not true then they booted her out to St. Peter's where we watched her die from infections from not been cared for at the general

This hospital took care of my Grandmother during her last days. when She past away, It took the Hospital over 11 hours to notify us of her passing. They had detailed information on how to contact several members of the family. they tried one phone number, ONCE. She was constantly being moved which was disconcerting to us as well a to her. Her appearance was not maintained. they did the bear minimum of care, care we paid for because her length of stay was not covered while we were waiting to put her in a long term care facility. the hospital has never appologised for this error.
