Both my sons were born here, and I've had to go for myself on too many occasions. Everyone has always been professional and easy to communicate with. I've often been pleasantly surprised at how genuinely kind everyone is, especially considering some other clinics and hospitals barely give you a glance. Did I have to wait - yes. Nowadays though, where don't you? Were some of my visits quick - yes. But they always helped me with my health issues. My favourite hospital if one should have one.

My family and I have used their services several times.. From simple, to complicated, to complex, to life-threatening issues. From programmed services such as baby delivery, to demanding emergency situations. They are simply amazing! Service is awesome: They are fast-paced due to the demand of their services but never disregard quality and effectiveness for speed. Last time and in a very serious situation, they saved my life and also, when they realized they could not help me further (long story), they referred me to someone who could at VGH and made the transfer directly... That is what excellence in service is all about. Enough said!

The last place u want to go to receive medical care in the province. While the BC liberals are decimating the public health care in the province the doctors who are the premiers minions in the ER are remunerated for getting patients in and out quickly whether they treat the patient correctly or not in order to deter them from using the expensive ER in favour of he cheaper doctor office visit.

The Cardiology section of St, Paul's Hospital is one of the BEST, great Doctors and a great Staff, if you have a Heart Problem go to St. Paul's, but if you ever need the ENT Clinic then go somewhere else, I was send there a few Years ago and what a Disaster , all of them are Resident Doctors without supervision , the third Doctor I seen there told me that the first two where only two Weeks out of School and he was out for 6 Months and going back to Australia 4 Days later, he seen a major Problem on my right Ear (had a CT Scan done in the ER) but he did NOT know what to do about it, he told me that I should see a Specialist, well I seen Dr. Chee Thong, all you have to do is look at his ratings, the worst of any Doctor I have ever seen.

If I had to go I would always first go to the ER at St. Paul's Hospital before any other place (Lions Gate Hospital for example). I found all the staff to be very efficient and professional. I felt so much respect for the doctors and nurses and support staff who dealt with genuine care for the less fortunate from the Downtown Eastside.
Too bad they will have to move from the current location.

There are lifetime consequences when years ago our only grandchild's birth was scandalously mismanaged at SPH by now retired Prof. Dr. Vera Frinton, obstetrician and neonatologist as well as in high post of professional and ethical function at the College of Physicians and at the University. Also, the second obstetrician, Dr. G.Kinney was negligent.
In stress, I asked the pediatrician Dr. G. Baumgard how is the baby and his incredibly arrogant answer was : "storm in the cup of coffee' and left.
A botched amniocentesis with 3 weeks leak was done by an obstetrician Stephen Philip Hudson, now in Victoria. He was not an ultrasonologist. The College concluded, that our grandson received excellent care.
I almost lost my wife at SPH years ago due to incompetence and negligence and when in septic shock and in respiratory failure she was abandoned by doctors, including ICU director, Prof. Dr.Dodek.

I have always found St. Paul's H to be excellent, with the knowledge and expertise of the physicians. I am glad they will have new "digs". Having said that, I live in the downtown area, and will miss the hospital very much when the move is complete.

If you have to be in a hospital this is the one to be in! All you people complaining must not ever have been anywhere near a REALLY awful hospital like Ridge Meadows Hospital, which is such a disgrace it should be shut down. St.Paul's is amazing!

ONLY $$$ money oriented doctors and nursing staff. Nobody cares about people there, only about time frame and checklist. You get there with minor problems and leave without limbs or on the morgue stretcher. Facility floors 7,8,9,10 full of homeless people wearing yellow gowns meaning MRSA or VRE positive and they walking everywhere spreading viruses, nurses and doctors don't wash their hands after those patients and then see your loved one. You can see along corridors everywhere signs PLEASE WASH YOUR HANDS ,didn't they learn this on 1st day of med-school? I know many people who work there and trust me you don't want to know whats going on behind those doors. Dirt, filth, drugs, stressed to the point on over time staff . Huh Be Healthy AND NEVER NEVER get under the knife on 3rd floor at that OR. Good luck
