I recently had a total knee replacement & spent 4 days at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea, 5th Floor. Prior to surgery, there is a 2 hr class in which the procedure & after care physical therapy are explained & questions answered PLUS patient registration is completed & blood drawn for blood typing, just in case, all resulting in a much faster & more smooth "entry" to your surgery. From my pre-surgical nurse to my recovery room, I must say how kind, understanding & patient they were. Because I am on a pain management regimen already, I have a unique pain medication need &, as a result, my first night in the hospital was long & miserable but, this was a result of doctor office miscommunication, not the nursing staff. In the morning, at shift change, the day nurse immediately got on it & my pain medication adjusted, the rest of my stay was fine. I LOVED all of my nursing staff, my concierge doctor, Dr.Medina & even the phlebotomy staff was nice & easy. I'm not a fan of hospital stays but, if I have to be in a hospital, I hope you'll it's Scottsdale Shea.

My first experience was good as far as doctors. PA was very caring and helped get my condition so I could leave functioning. The nursing staff however on both visits were just awful. Absolutely. No compassion . Do not follow proper medication administration protocol, and basic nursing skills are embarrassing. Every single RN was rude and couldn't be less caring. The second visit for same issue was an absolute nightmare. I have never been treated so poorly. The doctor disregarded me altogether basically. He refused to administer the care I needed to leave there in a functional state and has made things extremely hard for me to obtain the necessary testing to be able to properly address my condition. This has resulted in an unnecessary degree of pain until testing available. The testing could have been provided there however he refused to order, saying my condition was not emergent enough in so many words. There were so many inappropriate statements and comments made by him and the nursing staff. I am appalled and have never been made to feel like I have by anyone, let alone people who are supposed to do the complete opposite. The only positive thing I have to say about that place is again the care and empathy I received from the PA I saw from first visit, the front desk staff was very nice, the X-ray tech was also very kind and caring, and last but not least, the registration person who could not have been any kinder. I'm very upset and feel as though my treatment was unethical and very unnecessary. I'd go as far as saying in humane even honestly. I really hope these medical providers do not ever have the same lack of care that they have given to me.

Patient care was non-existent. I had to beg them to allow me to wash my face and brush my teeth which they could never find the time to assistant with those basic requests. One night planned stay resulted in a three night miserable stay and leaving with respiratory problems, nerve damage with loss of functionality in forearm, hand and finger coordination. The original procedure was breast revision which has been referred to as a failure from follow-up consultations of peers. Dr. John Corey was the physician responsible for the final results and lack of logistical planning.

Emergency department doctor not competent. Went in for what I thought was a spider bite and he ordered an MRI and refused to run labwork. Got bill for ER doc, mRI and one from ER. Dermatologist diagnosed as contact dermatitis. I called to complain and now my account is in collections. A waste of hard earned money!

We are not from this area and had health crisis while visiting. Had good care in both the ER and during 5 days inpatient. Overall great nursing staff, friendly people, all 3 doctors worked with were very good. Feel thankful that we ended up here. Don't know about "value " because have nothing to compare it to?

ER doctors at this hospital all contracted on their own I am told by hospital administrator after huge DR mistake in ER. The contracted doctors do not have to answer to anyone and come and go as they choose. I've unfortunately had to come here frequently with two dying parents and my own medical issues.
