Took a family member to the ED on 4/12/18, at any other hospital this person would have been taken directly back for triage but they sat this young lady in the lobby screaming and crying for over an hour until she fell onto the floor from her wheelchair. It took an administrator who was leaving to notice and ask for her to be immediately triaged. The ER Nurse was extremely inpatient due to her just arriving in the ED for work (no excuse). She was placed in a hallway for over 2 hours before she got a room. Finally, she was admitted. Terrible customer service. Emory made a horrible mistake in adding this facility to the brand. Don't ever go to this hospital, they could possibly kill you or your loved one
Exorbitant cost for simple x-ray Dekalb Medical was offered as a choice by my primary care provider for simple x-ray and it was more convenient for me than Emory. However, Dekalb Medical grossly overcharges for this service. If you are uninsured or if you have not yet met your deductible, you will be on the hook for 10x the average cost. For example, the average cost for the x-ray in my area was $45. Emory would have charged $64, and Dekalb Medical charged $427!!! Avoid Dekalb Medical for any services – we have many other choices in the Atlanta/Dekalb area.
The nursing staff is wonderful! they are very attentive and keep me informed of what is going on. The only problem I see consistently is the pharmacy is slow in getting medication to the floor. Overall its a great hospital and I feel very well taken care of there. after all I travel over 200 miles to go there.
