Humber River Hospital is still the worst hospital in Canada since 2001. Upper management needs to be changed as the culture of bullying from Ruben Devlin to Barb Collins has gotten worst. The hospital is new but an apple looks good outside shiny and new but the core is rotten from the president all the way down to the supervisors. Yes sometimes the service is good but yes a lot of times the service will be slow. Rudeness comes from the core it will never change. People that are nice to you comes from the person's heart that is serving you. Managers learn to bully and harass as it is the culture. Bear in mind that the workers are doing their best with all the cutbacks because how else are they going to maintain such an expensive hospital. The core needs to be removed from the president all the way down to the supervisors.
Been waiting for 4 hours in pain, after doctor checked he said I'll give you something for pain till we wait the results 30 min still in pain no doctor no nurse. Staff are rude and not grateful. I have pain from the morning and they don't care why I paying taxes for this kind of medical help??
This would not be a recommended hospital! My mom has been in hospital for 2 months now and they cannot give up a final diagnosis of what she may have and the attention at this hospital is not much of help. We have had to change my mother and nurses always say they will be back and never show up. My mother ended up with an infection on her foot due to the poor attention from nurses. They left the bandage on her foot for two weeks without having ever pay attention to it. If you can go to any hospital do not go to Humber River!
Terrible experience - spent big millions to build & outfit. Computerized everywhere but I know computers - these were unbelievably difficult to use. What about folks not computer friendly!! Ring for nurse (on computer of course!) - one might show up 20-30 minutes later - supposedly listen to yr request - then leave - most times did not return. 99% immigrants - language barrier on both sides & lack of experience, got action if you screamed at the Nursing Station. My husband was admitted to Humber with a massive heart attack - no complaint re service as the Cardiologist was yelling orders (Code White) arranging transfer to Sunnybrook for critical heart surgery. Sunnybrook amazing but terribly overcrowded so he was transferred back to Humber to recuperate before more surgery 4 days later. He had certain restrictions I.e. not moving his arm, no bending & more! A family member has to be there to care for the patient - we had day shift & evening coverage. Had second surgery at Sunnybrook - after bumping for others more critical - recovery-settling him (confusion-agitation) - returned to Humber - all in a 15-1/2 hr period. Transferred 9:00am - returned 1:00am!!! I dropped over at Humber to ensure he was settled & ok. Spoke with nursing Station & stressed his requirements re meds-agitation-confusion. Yah yah - not to worry - he would be in hospital one more day to “observe & ensure he was ok. Left hospital 1:30am - just falling asleep, my confused husband calls to ask if I can go to Wallmart!!! Nicely asleep. 6:45am - husband calls - BEING DISCHARGED!!!!!!!!!}. Yes, doctor spoke with him - gave him prescriptions & general info- WHAT!! He hadn’t a clue😡. So then no nurse of any sort around - he can barely get dressed - NO BENDING- ha ha!! Got everything together - still no one anywhere to be found - so we leave. He is so halls empty! Start towards elevator - rests several times - get to main floor &spot a volunteer with an EMPTY WHEELCHAIR- beg can I have it, he cannotwalk!! Response “DID YOU BOOK IT?? - we are having trouble with wheelchairs!!!!! Why doesn’t Humber fix or better still, take all discharged patients in wheelchairs down to the pick up dock - like all other hospitals do?? Hope I never need the help of Humber Hospital ever again. Hope I get a survey to complete. Was told by a social worker that Humber has the worst patient care record - it’s the tops!! Yes, it sure takes the cake.
Went into emerg with family member who had stroke . He lay on gurney for 4 hours was not registered nor seen by anytone in emerg, He was dumped off by para medics and then then left to die on gurney in hallway..If you go to this hospital make sure you have family members with you. At least they will care and you will not die alone
Worst surgery process ever!!! Schedule day surgery and when you show up they say they cant help ypu, "didn't someone call you" is what the bytch at the pre surgery reception will ask. They will then leave you waiting 10 hours without any compassion whatsoever and finally tell you "oh sorry we can't operate on you so go home for a week" suffering in pain! Beware of th
Great service both in emerg and fracture clinic everyone one that I was in contact with was very nice and accommodating making sure I was comfortable. Fractured my tibia and dr.desai and his team were very nice and took great care of me. Fracture clinic is busy but they clearly do there best to keep the ball rolling also very nice. Best hospital experience I’ve had. No complaints other than the wheelchairs are like shopping carts and are very uncomfortable.

Dr Berall is a great Dr. But for the receptionist they do not know how to speak to people. Really like to no how they got the job.
