This hospital has the most rudest and downright ignorant ER nurses I have ever come across! Their might be a scatter nurse who doesn’t fall under this umbrella, but for the most part the nurses are unkind, uncaring, and they don’t give a dang how much pain your in, or how sick you are. They couldn’t care less! I have had the displeasure of being admitted to this hospital multiple times for a chronic condition I have. When it’s time for your medication, the ER nurses take their time in returning with it and then ask rude questions in a rude tone like “What do you want me to do?? The Dr is not able to see you yet”. Well I understand the ER is a very busy place and that at times the doc is busy with more severe patients, but to be spoken to like that in such a rude tone by nurses , like I was an inconvenience to them is just inexcusable. Nobody is at the hospital ER Dept just for something to do. Ppl that are their are sick!! If the emerg nurses don’t lie where they are, the move! The patient should not have to put up with angry, resentful and dowrgjt rude and disrespectful nurses when you are very ill and in ALOT of pain. It is their whole presentation where the problem lies with the nurses. I have NEVER experienced anything like them at other hospitals. And this whole business of the ambulance can only take you to Lakeridge Oshawa hospital as it is the closest is a pile of 💩 and just excuses. Yes, I get the fact that our health system is trying to manage patients in a more wide spread formula but when a patient expresses very highly their concerns with Lakeridge Health, the ambo drivers don’t care either. It is a systemic breakdown in this hospital and everyone has stopped giving a dam about the patients. Inexcusable! Sick ppl need support, kindness, caring but you won’t find that at Oshawa Hospital. The nurses on the floors are somewhat better and more relaxed and kind. But then thebwaitinf to get a room....it’s just a downright terrible experience at this hospital. Go anywhere else but here! They always discharge a few days too early and leave the patient with a list of things to do themselves after discharge at home. My biggest beef with them is a large ethical and professionalism issue. I was recently dx with Pancreatitis and discharged a couple of days too early. They did not follow thru on weaning me down off the very high doses of a very strong pain medication. I was sent home with no support to do that on my own...seriously. 😡 I was livid. Weaning down from a very strong narcotic requires a Dr’s supervision. But nope, I did not get that. Their were many issues that arose during my week stay at this hospital and I have vowed to never go back their again.
Lakeridge Health needs much improvement in care of patients. My previous time spent in Kakeridge Oshawa in Nov 2018 was a experience I hope I never experience again in my life time. I won’t get into detail as it would take up too much space. Concerned and frustrated previous patient.
Doctor repeatedly broke client confidentiality while standing at the nurses station relaying personal client health conditions. Reported to the hospital complaints department as well to the College of Physicians. I hope they connect with that doctors clients with the names I provided to inform them of the leak of there personal information due to this doctors negligence. Doctor also dismissed my health concerns and symptoms and in the same day went to a clinic who diagnosed me and assessed me properly as provided myself with a treatment plan.
I do not understand how a nurse in psychiatry can get away with being so aggressive to the most vulnerable pts i saw there in lock up unit at Oshawa emergency She instigated the arguments she had absolutely no compassion for the patients there it was horrible to watch really. I wish i got her name i would have reported her to college of nurses She should not be a nurse period she enjoyed abusing the power she had she enjoyed getting the pts upset then forcing them to go to the cell really they had and locked them in there. She was the problem not the fragile pts she was. I am sure the staff that worked with her were also embarrassed and bullied by her as well. I hope that someone speaks up and gets this nurse fired.
Poorly organized hospital, dirty, expensive to park at and very understaffed. It was immediately clear that patient care is driven by the cheapest possible alternative and aimed to kick you out as soon as possible, regardless of readiness! During my family member’s stay, I would visit the food court daily. The food court has very long waiting times and you either have to listen to loud boisterous students from the high school across the street or the same groups of people that sit talking, making disparaging comments about their work and derogatory comments about the people they are “stuck with, because of the union” How sickening to have to hear this negative and unprofessional talk during much needed breaks! Plus all the while wondering if the horrible things being said were about the people taking care of my loved one. I assumed by their comments they were supervisors and all I could think was, if those people don’t have faith in the people giving care, how are the patients and families supposed to? Once my family member was discharged, I took the opportunity to submit a complaint regarding my experiences, the response I received was nearly laughable! A bunch of BS that danced around the situation without addressing a single thing!
