I already post my comment on MSH site. Usually I am trying not to write something negative about hospitals, they are to help patients. But...I am getting really tired to be treated as I was given a handout, every time I have to go to ER, or to the doctor's appointment (mostly). I started to think before my encounter with medical professionals with terror-I have to convince him/her that I need help! Convince! That's scary. In ER of MSH there is an attitude from doctors (most of them) and other medical staff, like "I am here to save lives and not to attend your insignificant complaints about "nothing"! That's right. "Nothing" - it is the most likely diagnose that you would receiving there. Sometimes, it is really nothing sirouse, other times, even it is not looks like, it is life threatening. And my past experience demonstrates that. After more than three hours waiting to be seen, you'll receive-really quick, already ready, before anything is done, like to listen a patient, an answer-"You have nothing. Why are you here? " Something like that. Maybe they wil give a Tylenol, that now, apparently, it is panacea. There is a male nurse in ER, I really afraid of. Because every time, even if hi is smiling, he radiates annoyance-patients are bothering him.
Three hours and 34 minutes in the ER, 3 seconds Dr. Kpoor spend with the patient. He seems to know the issues even before patient start talking to him, entire 3 seconds he spent writing. At the end got prescribe medication (again tell me why we go to ER get medication from another pharmacy may be not even open that late). drove around over half and hour looking for medication while patient was suffering with the pain. Well he may have seen lots of patient and lost his interest hi not near dying or he wanted someone with separated body parts? I don't know paid 17 dollars for parking. All Markham resident paying for taxes at least we should have affordable parking. I hope staff changed and better service team soon. I am done with this place.
Truly the worst emergency department in canada. the nurses are rude, unprofessional and don't seem to enjoy their job. i understand its a difficult job but why become one and create awful experience for patients. the physician seem incompetent. it took 6 hours to do a ct scan and prescribe tylenol for chest pain. its shameful how patients are treated at this hospital.
Not a great experience. My second child was born here. My first was born in North York General. Needless to say, my experience at NYG was much better. The staff there were always checking on me, educating me and offered free classes during my stay. They stressed the importance of skin-to-skin and had more involvement with helping me care for my new born. Complete opposite experience at this hospital. Nurses only came in my room 2-3 times. Staff were very slow, and did not notice that my water broke before they told me to go out for a "2 hour" walk. My plan was to take the epidural since I knew I couldn't handle the pain. Was told that it was too late to call the anesthesiologist because they would take to long to come. When I was at NYG I told the nurses I wanted it last minute and they were able to give it to me. Nurse kept telling me not to yell in a rude way and wasn't very encouraging. She then told me to push, without the doctor in sight! And 15 mins later, she told me to stop pushing because I was actually not dilated enough. Finally my doctor came, she was amazing. No nurse initiated any skin-to-skin, and after just giving birth, I am not thinking well so I dont realize I needed to do it until a few hours after. My baby didnt have the hospital bracelet on his leg properly, it fell off at some point and they didnt care to put it back. At NYG, they had electronic bracelets that would sound an alarm if they baby was taken out of the area. I made me paranoid to sleep! Overall, the nurses there dont seem to care or their care plans are just lacking. I would not recommend any of my friends or relatives to go there.
This hospital is the WORST!! Rude uncaring and seemingly incompetent staff. Best friend in for 'a fib' issues. They actually administered the medication he is on at home prescribed by his cardiologist.Reason he went in was because he took that medication before going to the ER and it did not work.He told them this yet they still gave him that med. They since tried 3other meds and have had to shock him twice but still in a fib. The Dr 'caring?' for him actually went home for the day without doing a follow up without telling this patient(and I'm assuming any others he was seeing) he had even been admitted. He was left to just sit in ER and wonder what was happening until he finally found a Nurse who gave him an update. Friend is signing himself out and going to South Lake concerned that Markham Stouffville will just ignore him further and possibly allow him to die. Pretty bad when patients are scared to stay..This is NOT the first highly disappointing and disgusting experience we have had with this hospital but it is the last.We will never return here and will inform family and friends that if they have an Emergency they need to go else where to be ensured proper care.Shame on you Markham Stouffville.
I was referred top the Hospital by my Family Doctor and saw Dr. Fera several times already. She is an amazing doctor, very knowledgeable and what is very important, she is caring about her patients and is trying to help them to recover. She is very kind and never rushes you off the door like some other "Specialists" I saw before . I have a very good experience with Dr. Fera, and I an so glad that I am in good hand of a real professional.
Absolute worst hospital. Staff are a nightmare I brought in my daughter in law because she was in labor baby decided to come out at night after visiting hours. Well the triage nurse and security guard take us to fourth floor which they did the nurse then tells us she should walk around as we are walking another security guard wouldn’t allow us to go back up as a matter of fact he kicked me out of the hospital in the cold at 2:30 in the morning. I wasn’t allowed to ask questions. When I did he said I was being belligerent I am 53 years old and he was half my age being disrespectful. Needless to say his attitude was so rude and he was a pure BULLY. I can not believe how a once wonderful hospital has turned into this mess. It’s absolutely shameful but my donations are done here after all these years of supporting a local hospital I can say that I won’t Be donating a sent Administration needs to really look into it
