Was surprised by the barbaric style of outpatient surgery. I had to walk into the OR carrying my IV, got completely overwhelmed by the number of people, room size and instruments/machines. It seemed a pretty terrifying way to start abdominal surgery. No one wants to see behind the scenes. Other hospitals give light sedation, and then wheel you into the OR. This completely freaked me out. First and only panic attack I have ever had. The anaesthesia doctor was very calming. There may be good reason for doing it this way, however, I was not at all prepared. Other than that, excellent care, excellent nurses, excellent facility.
91 year old family member with excruciating back pain waited 9 hours X-Ray taken, no labs, blood or urine. Sent home with Tylenol. Following day diagnosed with severe UTI at another hospital, and degenerative spine causing the pain. Hospital emergency is very understaffed, and when emergencies at other regional hospitals have no Dr, it creates longer waiting times and even more under-staffing at this hospital. In this case not sure why a simple urine specimen wasn't done.
I was there last week Monday early morning when I cut my leg on a cardboard box. They were awesome. Took me in right away. The doctor that was on call did an awesome job but the nurse was awful. She went to give me a tetnus shot and now left me with a huge lump and a bruise. She put the needle in let it hang there while she went to get a bandage then gave me the shot. I am sitting thing wth what is she thinking of. She was not right for the job. Nice hospital but the nurse sucks.
My wife was weak, right eye she had blurry vision Her bp was ,200 over109 pulse 99. She was stressed. She is diabetic. She waited ,4 hrs. They couldn't say when doctor could look at her. I did all grocery shopping Walmart and Safeway drove home got her a jacket and back to hospital. . She wanted to go home. I think it's a contest to see which doctor can do the least. Or maybe all the doctors have vacated Manitoba they've probably had enough of stinking undertsble goverment, taxing system. I've heard so many people say about old hospital "you go to Selkitk hospital if you want to die," Gorgeous hospital please prove them wrong .let's see some positive feedback.
I came in with stomach and chest pains.....I drove myself in as I had no one else too. got into emergency, went to receptionist, told her my issues then sat in waiting room to see triage nurse, while waiting I thought I better go ask if my vehicle would be ok cause I,m sure it would be more then 30 mins and did not want it towed, she said better I go move it as she could not say that it would not get towed.........really...........I,m having chest pains and you want me to go all the way back out there ......move my car and walk all the way back from the visitor parking.......that's awful......what if I had taken a heart attach while doing that..i had not even seen the triage nurse, ....there has to be a better way........luckly it was not my heart, but what if it had been.........no compassion what so ever........ but I will say the triage nurse once I got to see her was great........there needs to be a change in that parking, that's just trouble waiting
