All though the hospital was clean and in good shape the staff in surgical day care did not seem to work well as a team and neglected my husband after surgery. No one seemed Interested enough to unhook him from the monitors when it was time to leave and just shrugged when I asked if He was ready for me to take him home. Not a lot of verbal communication which left us feeling very vulnerable and a little angry. Not my first choice next time.
The intake clerk at the hospital listened to my symptoms when I came in then promptly insinuated that I had been googling. Had I actually done that I may have realized earlier that I was having a heart attack. I almost left, but a doctor came over and took me right in. Perhaps you may find many people who come in faking symptoms, but I ended up having a quadruple bypass. I was not. If you are so jaded with your job that you no longer have empathy for the people walking through the doors, it might be time for a change. You very nearly caused me to turn around and leave. I would have died.
The doctors and nurses were nice but I felt they didn't know how to deal with bigger issues. I didn't realize it mostly catered to seniors when I went there. I was misdiagnosed, no tests were ran other than blood tests. I had nurses feel a mass in my abdomen and mention it to me but nothing was done about it, no ultrasound...when I went to another facility, the first thing they did was get me an ultrasound to see what was going on and I had the proper diagnosis within a week whereas I dealt with DH for 2 months to no avail :/
I have been misdiagnosed as well as other friends that I know of have been and triage assumed what was wrong with me by looking at me and not even throughly. I’m DISGUSTED. Fraser health needs to clean up its act and stop letting people nearly die. Thanks for nearly letting that happen to me-again.
Had a great experience once while taking my child there the last time which was months ago. The doctor was amazing (not sure what his name was). He was knowledgeable and amazing with my child and it definitely helped my view on the hospital. But, the first time I went here after I had moved to Ladner was with the same child due to breathing difficulties from a cold. The doctor who saw my 1 year old (at the time) proceeded to take my child's diaper off and fondled my child's testicles for a good minute. When I went to ask him why this was relevant to breathing difficulties he stopped and said, and I quote "You like that don't you?" I was so disgusted that I left there feeling violated for my son! Again, didn't get his name but I could point him out no problem. He has a creepy weirdo vibe to him. I didnt know if that was standard practise but in my heart it didnt feel right. I didnt think anyone would believe me either so I didnt say anything but when I think back to it, I really should have! My MIL told me "I'm sure there was a reason why he did that" but for something chest related, he shouldn't have been fondling my baby's testicles and shouldn't have said what he said either. It put a bad taste in my mouth for the Delta hospital and vowed I wouldn't go back unless I really HAD to. Like I said, the second time we had to go, we had an amazing doctor and it helped to re-establish my faith in this hospital. If the first doctor we had would have been the same doctor the second time, I would've refused him straight away. Luckily it wasn't him. I know this is a very serious allegation, but I've been in silence for too long and it needs to put out there so if others have had the same thing happen to them, maybe they will come forward.
Drs are very under educated with special diseases, yet they feel they can berate educated, well respected, nuerologist in the community by mocking his findings and ignoring his recommendation. Poor bedside manner, dr. Currie openly making fun of patients for all to hear. Dr. Jen Yu bedside manner is rude and unhelpful ....sge too uneducated to be a specialised doctor. All nurses gave a hip of arrogance. Uncomfortable place to be ill
