The veterinary hospital we use for our dog is cleaner!!!!! I don’t know how but they retain the most amazing urologist - Dr. John Warner. He is world class and is forced by the City of Burnaby to work in a MASH unit!!!! You would never know that the city coffers are far enough into the black that they could build a brand new hospital!!!!! I suppose Corrigan’s city funded golf trips with buddies were more important to him than building an adequate and a modern, clean facility to recieve care in , was; for those that voted him in!!!! Nice legacy! Enjoy retirement . Hopefully our new mayor will do what is right and desperately needed!!! Hopefully this includes abolishing the parking fees that become a barrier for many, when it comes to visiting sick and dying relatives! Not to mention, when you do manage to visit - having to dodge silverfish and put up with peeling paint all over the walls that is old enough to (I am sure) contain lead!!!!! The bar can’t get much lower so it won’t take much to make a drastic improvement!!!! All of the hand sanitizer stations in the world ( many of which are often empty - with just cause) won’t keep you safe here. Mandatory handouts of HAZMAT suits should be provided to visitors as staph is ALWAYS a guaranteed on the menu! Those with compromised immune systems .... AVOID at ALL costs!!!!
If you are sick, and enter this hospital, you may just pray that you will exit it and not be more sick. the list of bad experiences cannot fit in this allotted place. I think that this hospital needs a total overhaul, and potentially to be closed, which will actually improve the health of population.
this is the worst hospital I have ever seen. My wife waited over 7 hours to see a doctor when she was having chest pains trouble breathing headaches Etc. They would not update her or give her any information about what is going on just made her wait wait and wait. what is wrong with this Hospital??? I will never return to this Hospital ever again!!!!
Burnaby General Hospital is a "third world hospital" not because of lack of funding, but because many of the BGH staff simply do not care or care enough. Patients are routinely misdiagnosed and the wait times are pathetic. My nephew went in after his fall from a bike and the BGH medical staff diagnosed a hairline fracture in his ankle and gave him a boot to wear. The pain was so intense that his family took him to BC Children's Hospital where they diagnosed him with a double fracture causing misalignment in his leg requiring surgery. So BGH is a lousy hospital that cannot even diagnose an ankle fracture properly leaving patients with undue pain and suffering. My wife went to BGH Emergency with cardiac symptoms 3 times in 1 month, but because she was not having a heart attack was not seen by a cardiologist. It was not until she went to St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver that she was finally admitted and had proper tests and treatment done for her cardiomyopathy. Needless to say we will NEVER use Burnaby General Hospital again ... they should be closed down or placed under new management!!!
Had been to visit a friend in hospital, but never really had any procedures done here. I have heard it was a terrible hospital......this was not my experience........I had minor surgery here, all appeared to be in order, very clean, staff was very helpful and pleasant, I had a good experience.
Went in because of a rapid, unexplained hair loss. Was sent to the super-track area, where I listed to residents complain about how boring this particular department was, waiting to be seen by the attending Doctor. When I was finally seen, the Dr. "examined" me for all of 30 seconds, only to be advised that I seemed anxious (yes, I'm a female experiencing rapid hair loss) and asked if I'd ever seen a psychiatrist lol. Was told that there's nothing they could do for me, they "don't do those kind of tests here", and was completely dismissed. Long story short, I was eventually seen by a competent Dr., and have been diagnosed with an auto-immune condition, which was causing this troubling symptom. Had I not investigated further, I'd have no idea. As a quick aside, this Dr.'s dismissal of a very real symptom as a psychiatric issue makes me empathize with those people actually experiencing mental health issues. Shockingly poor service.
