What is the paleo-diet, and does it work?

I've been reading about the paleo-diet and am trying to decide if it would be right for me. A lot of the websites seem to be just promoting it instead of reviewing it. Does anyone have more information, or are any of you already on this diet?

I had a few friends on this diet and I found they actually gained weight while on it! I personally have had results focusing on eating smaller portions and cutting out the junk.

Diets, any diet will work, it's just that you have to make it more of a lifestyle, or at least when you go off the diet, just make sure you're doing things to keep your positive results form being on the diet. Lifestyle and control is what it comes down to.

Yes, it could work. It is basically when you only eat raw foods.

The best diet is the nutrion diet. You can trust me or look for some other information but it works on 100%

Low Carb, High Fat, High Protein diets are great for weight loss, but they aren't very sustainable once you achieve your target weight.
A more balanced diet afterward is better.
Not to mention, what people are saying "paleo" is is a bit inaccurate. Palaeolithic people ate way more vegetables, and tubers than they did animal protein. It seems like most proponents of the Paleo diet nowadays are like "You can eat all the bacon you want!", when this isn't even close to a true Paleo diet.

The paleo diet is a whole food based approach to eating: preferably locally grown quality protein from poultry, meat, fish and seafood, fruit and vegetable carbohydrates, and whole food fats, like nuts, freshly pressed oils and avocado. Your diet should give you adequate but not excess, carbohydrates and fats sufficient for your fuel needs, and protein to maintain lean body mass. Your paleo diet should be varied and supply all essential vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, antioxidants, polyphenols and fibre.

The paleo diet caused more weight loss and several improvements in cardiovascular risk factors, compared to a Diabetes diet.

Paleo diet is as the name says, food that were eaten by early man. It includes fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, meat and fish and excludes grains and dairy. It's high protein diet and eaten raw. You don't have to follow a complete paleo diet for a healthy living. cooking food will help ease digestion and kill pathogens. On the other hand fruits and vegetables can be eaten without cooking.
