My brother was taken to emergency and was treated with complete respect and the Doctors called me almost every day to keep me informed of his health problems. Tests were done almost immediately. He was taken to the 8th floor where everyone that he had contact with were wonderful. Nurse even brought him a heated blanket realizing he was cold. They operated on him yesterday. I would recommend this hospital to all. A BIG thank you to the Doctors and who have helped him. I appreciate it very much.

2 1/2 weeks at the hospital...Mistakes over mistakes...doctors don't know much what's going on and would not listen to patient's needs and some nurses and head of nurses have very poor customer care...a few nurses were awesome. Not the right food for the patient's condition. I would not recommend anyone to this hospital.

I had spine surgery 10 years ago and I am now having another one. `My surgeon is one of the best and this is why I go here. If I had to choose I would try another one. the hospital itself is horrible for patient treatment. my nurses were rude and extremely un-helpful. They would take forever to come in, they were late with my pain medications. I had to take the care into my own hands even though I was hopped up on morphine most of the time. The food was gross, I had no choice of tea or coffee. The nurses would move my call button where I couldn't reach then forget to put it back. they told me "I shouldn't be feeling this way...) if I told them something as if I was just a number/a statistic. The nurses had no empathy or training for how this affects you mentally. The frustration brought me to tears of angriness many times. I could not wait to go home.

As a health care professional, ranking a hospital is not something I do quickly. I like to give the situation alot of thought and fairly assess the issues. It has been 6 months since my husband had Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson's and I believe it has taken both of us this long to be able to talk about how very poor this experience was/is. This hospital is a place for well surgeons and their research not for sick Parkinson's patients. The experience, on so many levels was intolerable. From the poor post-op care to the shoddy discharge. This is a hospital that is 100% Medical model with not a hint of nursing prowess. We have not found a "hero" in any of the staff.
It amazes me that you could miss the target this badly.

Worst hospital ever they almost killed my dad in a surgery to remove the remaining veins in his head after he had an aneurysm and one of the surgents called Dr. Pirera used too much glue on my dads vein and it burst now he can't move his legs or half of his body he can't speak or sit up and we don't know if he will ever be able to walk again. After they told us there was a 2 percent chance of this happening they still refuse to take responsibility for there actions. This hospital has done so much damage to my family and has ruined my father's life I would never recommend this hospital to anyone. Just sickeningly awful.

I am supposed to have DBS surgery for bipolar disorder in a trial study. I initially saw the psychiatrist in charge in April 2014. He told my husband and I that I was a good candidate and that everything would be completed by August 2014. That didn't happen. I then saw another psychiatrist in July, the neurosurgeon in August and the first psychiatrist again in Sept. at which time he told me that the surgery would be in Oct or Nov. Again nothing. I called the first psychiatrists office several times to find out what was happening and every time was told something different by his poor assistant. I ended up in a psych ward in November and had my psychiatrist there call to find out what was happening. He was told that the surgery would be at Christmas time. When I got out of the hospital at the end of November I called the neurosurgeons office and was told that they had not received my paperwork from the psych. and that the surgeon's last surgery for Dec. was the first week of that month. I then called the psych's office again and was told that they couldn't find a doctor to do the surgery. I explained to the assistant that I had already seen the surgeon and what had transpired when I called his office. Later in Dec. I called the surgeon's office again and was told that they had the paperwork and that the surgery was scheduled for Feb. (2 surgeries one on Fri and one on Mon) and that they were waiting for the Ethics board to sign off which would take place the first week of Jan. 2015. I called today Jan 12th and was told that it had not been signed off yet and that the surgery would take place on a Mon and a Fri. and that they would not schedule until the paperwork was signed off. This is the most disorganized hospital I have ever encountered. No doctor will call you to let you know what is going on and the poor assistants can only go by what they are told. The first psych.'s assistant tried twice to get him to call me but to no avail. I have since called the patient advocate's office hoping that they can get someone to call me to let me know what is going on.
If it wasn't for the fact that no one else does this surgery, I would have told them to shove it.
This is not like a broken leg, this is life and death! I cannot take meds for the bipolar because it affects my heart so I have been without meds for almost a year. I can't take it anymore. What are they waiting for? My husband to call and say don't worry about it, she committed suicide while waiting for you people to get your act together.

Toronto Western Hospital is the worst hospital I'm had the misfortune to stay overnight at. The nurses in the morning and early evening shift in the Emergency Ward were rude and condescending. It's my first time overnight at a hospital and I needed to used the washroom a couple times during the 14 hour ordeal. Naturally I will need to releave myself which requires removing the monitor sensors attached to my chest area. The nurse blurted that I don't know how to removed them properly which is by the extension cable connector -if you mentioned that at the beginning I wouldn't be doing it wrong. You have to buzz multiple times to get assistance. By contrast the late-night male nurse was actually pretty good tempered and polite in comparison.
