I brought my husband to St. Mary's last month and they did their very best. From ER, Trauma, to ICU, he was well looked after and with kindness. Thank you to Wivi Jensen in ER, Dr. Eric Tremblay in ICU and Kathryn, nurse, for their competence and great care. Unfortunately he did not survive but I know all the staff did their jobs well.

The WORST emergency department ever. Was deathly ill , & extremely dehydrated & weak with serious flu - was left in a room alone (due to contagiousness of this flu), for 8-10 hours. The emerg. room was packed, and every person that had come after me (some with minor things like a scrape) or things I wouldn't even go to the emerg. for.
Was treated horribly after I came out of the little closer sized room just after midnight, when the nurses had just changed shifts. I was treated abusively and shoved back into the little room (going on 12 hrs), since my arrival - I never saw a Dr. ! After almost 14 hrs. I was just too weak to wait and be treated horribly.

When I could barely stand from dehydration & exhaustion, I asked the employee nest the exit - entrance door if they would be so kind as to call me a Taxi (I was too weak to drive). The male employee rudely answered "that's not my job" !!!! The rudest, most filthy (that is, non-hygienic unclean emergency department & ditto, for the rest of that hospital ! I would never return to that emergency dept. again.

Very rude nurses after you give birth. I could not believe how terrible and mean they were! One even made a negative comment about another patient to me! They are miserable and take away the joy from the happiest time of your life. If you are pregnant please choose another hospital to deliver, you will be happy you did.

In major pain for major surgery after a point that I was told I should feel ok to return to work. Some..not all..nurses treated me like I was only looking for pain pills and didn't in fact have any issues. After an hour of being undressed in a room waiting for someone to see me and crying from the pain I started to hypervenalate. ..I didn't mean to....I could hear children there..and I wasn't doing this purposely in hopes of seeing someone quicker...my time is not more valuable than anyone else... anyways I didn't mean to and couldn't breathe and was crying pretty loudly. ..they had the door open so a nurse came barging in irritated asking what my deal was. . I told he i was in a lot of pain and asked if I could have something or get frozen. She said no you are the girl who took the t3's and dolotin today...we aren't giving you any pain meds. Very degrading night.

Have been waiting for over an hour for my appointment with Dr Serano. If I kept people waiting like this in my job, I would be fired.

I had my first baby at St-Marys and I loved the birthing rooms and the birthing staff but once you give birth everyone changes their tune. They move you to an old dingy room, they assign a rude nurse that only wants to push you to breastfeed all night long. No comfort if you have any pain or discomfort. One nurse even made a racial remark because my husband was black...She said "that she could never imagine that my husband was black...that's strange/ i wonder how your baby will turn out?" BTW She was Chinese and could barely speak English herself let alone French. I always wondered how she got the job to begin with.
Apart from old furniture, rooms not being cleaned (not even garbage can) and lousy after-birth nurses, yeah great hospital.
