I am an Ottawa native born and bread. The monfort Hospital is the only hospital i would rather go to than any other in the ottawa region. It's beyond clean, i mean you can eat of the floors in there (don't) figure of speech. And the well mannered attitudes of every single employee of this establishment is beyond amazing. 100 thumbs up if i had them 2 will have to do for now...

My friend went to Montfort E/R on Feb.6th, waitted 6 hours, was told to come back on Feb. 7th, went for a ultra sound, was told to come back Feb.8, will find out today, if Montfort is a waste of time and money. I guess a kidney stone in your jaw, is not life threatening as per Montfort E/R.

I am 67 & had day surgery last yr. Everyone was great. And had no problem with speaking just English. I have also be to ER and never had problems. Maybe people expect TOO MUCH. Guess they have not read about cut backs & layoff of nursing staff.

Im 26 year old and discovered a lump on my right breast about 5 months ago after 2 ultrasound and a mammogram my family doctor thought my lump was suspicious and my file was sent to Montfort. During my first appointment the assigned surgeon toes me aside and barely even looked at me telling me it was probably nothing since I was young and before leaving she made sure to tell me that I need to get my health card in check because she needed to get paid. (At the time I didn't have my health card and was paying everything from my own pockets). Three weeks later on January 6, 2016 I was scheduled for yet another ultrasound. This time the ultrasound couldnt detected anything at all but the lump got bigger. The radiologist came since the girl doing the ultrasound was confused, before he even took a looked at me he asked can you actually feel the lump or its only your family doctor who told you, you had a lump. I answered him and said no I did feel it and he could feel it also, which he did. I asked them what was the next step the radiologist answered me in the rudest way your surgeon will decide wether or not she wants to stick a needle in there but I will report to her that its nothing. I then asked him but you can feel the lump what is it ? He answered yes I can feel it but I dunno probably a growing tissue mass. A concerning team would do everything necessary to at least try to figure out what is wrong with me but not them.

I would also like to say the same thing happened to my young cousin who as bone cancer at the moment, Montfort wouldn't even look at her thank god her parents were smart enough to ask for a second opinion and transferred her to the general hospital. She is now growing through chemotherapy and not in danger.

On Jan.3 2014 I brought my wife to the Montfort and immediately was reprimanded by Triage nurse for taking a wheelchair to bring my wife in as her severe back pain would not allow her to walk in , Nurse never gave a proper examination and I had to speak for her due to a very scrambled voice . Gave her 2 Tylenol and we waited 10 hrs. to be see even with my constant request due to her pain ! Finally called to examination room and Dr. Montgomery appeared 30 min. later and immediately stated he did not appreciate his valuable e,r. time taken up with a sore back , no examination , said no drugs would be prescribed but wrote prescription for physiotherapy . Attended 5 aggressive sessions , woke up on Jan 27 unable to breathe . Rushed to General , immediate drainage of 2 litres of fluid from lungs - 2 more later and discovered Breast , Lung & Bone cancer , could not shrink mass as spine was injured at physiotherapy and could not receive radiation ! The Dr. and Nurses at the General were Angels and worked very hard to ease her pain , the pharmacy worked to find a way of killing nerve endings , but to avail ! Montfort should have be closed yrs ago but uses French card to stay open as it has been tried ! Please do not trust your loved ones life to this place !

Had two of our kids there by c-section through midwives. Although we don't speak French and this place has a reputation for being a primarily French-speaking hospital, we weren't treated any differently from anyone else while we were there. Maternity ward is secure using ankle bracelets and perimeter locking doors. Visitor parking lot is close to the building. Bad: parking extremely expensive, only takes two hours to hit the maximum daily rate. Cafeteria never seemed to be open when dad needed it.

I went to the Montfort Emergency at 11;30 p.m. on July 27, 2015, with a very bad pain in my upper abdomen that went through to my back. I threw up twice at home and once on the way to the hospital while being driven there by friend. I NEVER throw up. Got to emerg. Was given a shot for pain, supposedly, but it didn't work. It started with N, I don't remember the name, probably stands for "nothing". I sat in an absolutely freezing emergency waiting room in VERY bad pain for 5 1/2 hours with a bunch of stoic, stony-faced idiots working there with "I don't care about you at all" written all over their bloody faces. They didn't have a blanket for me, and I was extremely cold. Finally, I was told to walk down a very long hall (still in very bad pain). Then finally I was attended to properly, given morphine, had an X-ray, told I had pancreatitis caused by a gallstone, that I would be admitted and have my gallbladder out. The 5 1/1 hours in emergency were horrific and I SWEAR I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THAT HOSPITAL. My care once I was attended to was fine, good pain relief, but the dumb doctor who was put in charge of my care (Jose Peres) put me on a liquid diet for two days after surgery because "he wanted me to have a bowel movement before I left the hospital". How do some of these people get in or out of medical school? THEN he said that I could eat whatever I wanted. I think he'd mixed me up with another patient. Stupidity abounds.

I was pregnant...and my experience was awful painful and full with disappointments and tears! From unprofessional staff and nurses -- only one nurse was in duty that day... and left me to recharge her phone battery when I was in the status of delivering my baby for the first time...one doctor in duty and he was busy with two other delivers so I had to wait for 4 hours while I was ready to deliver...delivery room was left uncleaned and although I asked for a private room I was forced to stay there till a room frees up!! Nurses refuses to help me using washroom after delivery or provide snack when I was hungry...they allowed MD students to observe my baby delivery without a permission...I was bleeding a lot with no follow up from the doctor and left the hospital with an infection!!! nurse did not follow my birth plan nor my wish to have a natural delivery...after having my baby, nurse who was in charge was even worse than the one who left! She was rude and condecinding!! Unhelpful, careless and bold!! We asked for help and she mocked us...we asked for a pen to sign a paper she wondered how come we don't care a pen in our belongings we asked for a blanket, she said how come you don't have a sleeping bag with you!!! Everything was horrifying, nasty, and unpleasant. Please if you are expecting do yourself a favour and don't deliver in that hospital.

I had day surgery to correct my hallus valgus, and received excellent treatment. Follow up appointment was also excellent. Volunteers and staff were professional and curtious. Thank you for your care.
