My son had a fever of 102° and was throwing up. He couldn't keep anything down, not even water. We took him to the walk in down the street and the doctor said it was just a really bad flu and it will pass but if his fever didn't go down with in an hour that he should go to the emergency room for IV fluids. So that's exactly what we did. We waited an hour and still no change so we took him the the children's emergency. As soon as we got there they took his vitals and temperature and put him in immediately. Hooked him up to an IV, took x-rays and finally a spinal tap where the found out he had meningitis. My 5 year son could have died. But because of the amazing staff at the childrens hospital he's happy and running around. This was just over a week ago. As of today he's still there because he they found the meningitis bacteria in his blood so they want him to stay for a full 2 weeks of antibiotics (he gets discharged on October 19th/16 and before you judge me, YES i did get him vaccinated. Hes always up to date on his vaccines) but he tells me he never wants to leave because the staff are so sweet and patient with him and they have so many great facilities open to him (toys, movies, quality food, libraries, snacks) the Ronald McDonald room even had a thanksgiving dinner that we could invite our family to so that we didn't have to miss out. And his twin brother can even come to visit and play with him. I am so incredibly grateful to all the staff at the children's hospital for what they've done for us.

My sister is Diabetic and came into the hospital for her ketones - she was so ill and lifeless, but the doctors and care she received, were wonderful - they helped every step of the way - she is now doing well and we have them to thank.

Don't go there unless you have no other option, it always takes a long time to see a doctor.

We took my son to Children's when he broke his arm and it was the best experience I have ever had at a medical facility. Everybody was very compassionate from triage right to discharge. My son was terrified and in severe pain but everybody was very accomodatong and understanding. very comforting to have this facility available.
