Biography
Dentistry was always a part of my life. When I was growing up, I always looked forward to going to my mom’s clinic after school to watch her work (and to play with the cool gadgets, of course). It is an ever-changing field and I’m always striving to be better, constantly aiming to be well above the standard of care. I am frequently partaking in continuing educations to further enhance my skills, and get familiar with new technology. When I get asked, “Do you like your job?” I often answer: “Well of course, because it’s not a job, it’s a passion.” I’ve been in Calgary for most of my life until I moved to Edmonton for University. I received my Bachelor of Physical Sciences in 2010 and Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2014 from the University of Alberta. I can speak fluent Korean as well. I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry. Whether it’s something simple as restoring a cavity to a more complex case, it is always rewarding. I have particular interests in Cosmetic dentistry and Oral surgery. I am a firm believer that great bedside manner is equally important as clinical skills. We all know dental anxiety is a real thing, and for the extremely nervous patients, I offer IV sedation to make it as comfortable as possible for the patient. Outside of dentistry I enjoy spending time with family and friends. In the summer I’m usually doing outdoor activities, such as playing basketaball and golf. In the winter, I try to get out on the hills as much as possible to snowboard. Most importantly, my role as a health care professional is to ensure that my top priority is you, my patient.

Girls in the front are friendly and nice but that's about it. I did a check up there and a feeling for my tooth with Dr Kim. Both times the dentist was in rush! During checkup I ignored that because I thought he must be a great dentist based on the reviews and his time is so valuable that he doesn't waste it on talks, but no! He messed up my front tooth and didn't even apologize! Right after he finished working on my tooth, he said that he is done and JUST LEFT (he didn't ask me to look in a mirror or to check how it feels)! I asked a dentist assistant to give me a mirror just to check and then I felt that the tooth was too rough and thick so I asked her to call the dentist. Once he came, he polished the back quickly and then left again... just like that!! Who even does that?! After I went home and the numbing wore off, the tooth on a back became very sensitive and felt much thinner and smoother than it should be. I was so angry and upset that my tooth was messed up. I have never had such a poor experience with dentists in my life! I understand that mistakes happen, but the dentists normally ask their patients after a procedure is completed to make sure all is good ....except Dr Kim , apparently. Afterwards, I called the clinic and asked for another dentist to fix my tooth because enamel was obviously damaged. Another dentist seemed to be fine, but no one apologized to me for the trouble (not Dr Kim or the front stuff). The sensitivity was only partially fixed but I didn't want to go back there anymore so I went to another dental clinic to fix my tooth.
