I met Sara Wells (SW< I will not refer to her as "Doctor") on 3-17-16 for low Testosterone and a lump found by my PCP during a prostate exam previously. SW came in and gave me a choice of which issue she would address as she hadn't time to do both, that I would need another appointment. I told her that when I made THIS apt, I specifically told her staff about BOTH issues. SW stated that she would work on the prostate as it was probably the culprit for the testosterone issue. I really felt like leaving, In hindsight, I should have ran. I stayed. She felt the lump, talked about a biopsy, how easy and simplistic a procedure it is. She gave me choice of being asleep or being awake with a local. I chose sleep, she stated that most men stay awake and have less recovering and home sooner. I agreed that I am a man, but I chose sleep. On 3-30-16 I was on time, she was late. She was gone before I woke. My friend told me what SW said about recovery, if there was any questions or unnecessary pain, to contact her. On 3-31-16 I started to not feel well, went to bed early, Had a splitting headache on 4-1, did some errands and by noon I laid down, and started sweating, shaking, slept sporadically. I called STMC Saturday at 1045 am, no return call, I was feeling so sick, like I've never felt before. I called STMC at 4 pm, told them that I did so earlier with no return call. STMC stated that they only leave message on SW answering service or cell voice Mail. AT 445 pm SW called, I explained the issues I was experiencing. SW stated " It's Saturday, there's nothing I can do for you. If you called me yesterday (I should Have) I could have brought you in my office and ran a urine to check for post op infection." SW further stated the If I felt so awful, I should go to a Walk-In Urgent Care, a place that diagnose me in 2008 for GERD when I was actually having a heart attack, or back to STMC ER, the place where I fully believe made me sick to begin with. When I told that to SW she reiterated that "There's nothing I can do for you", I said a quick "Thanks". and hung up. My friend took me to Sewanee Hospital ER. I was in a semi private room in just minutes after I went over what I was experiencing. After determining I was dehydrated, they started IV with pain meds. I was there from 530 - 1100 pm. They took the utmost care of me. Although they could not determine what was wrong, the ER MD said that she was in touch with SW and that SW was "glad" I decided to seek medical help. Whoopie! on what SW was glad about. I was sent home with pain meds and Sulfur, the blood and urine was sent for labs. I contacted my PCP on Monday, filled her in. I started to feel better Tuesday am but by Tuesday pm I was getting very sick. By Friday I was vomiting uncontrollably, Stopped taking the Sulfur, Monday I called my PCP filling her in again. She told me that the labs showed I contracted E-coli and that's what made me sick after my biopsy. Saw my PCP that week and although better, I still felt awful. That week, SW office called, not to see how I was feeling but to schedule another appointment to discuss the biopsy results. I said no, thank you, (she hesitated) "you don't want to make an apt? I said no thank you, (She hesitated) You don't wish to see (SW) for follow up? I said No. and hung up. I called my PCP to get the results and at that apt I found out that I had prostate cancer. I asked my PCP, who was well aware how disgusted I was with SW to find a real urologist with real principles for his or her patients. I saw a doctor at Vanderbilt. He confirmed my cancer. He also said that I needed to wait another 5 weeks because of the E-coli contraction to ensure I was infection free. I am happy to say I am now recovering nicely from a prostatectomy. I am cancer free and E-coli free. No thanks at all to SW. I so sincerely recommend that no one see SW for anything. she was a huge waste of time, My insurance was billed over 12K for the Sewanee ER services. SW is the sole person responsible for my suffering and for placing my life in jeopardy, and knowing all this she could not find it in her (heart) to call the following week to see how I was. I have also found that SW has bounced around the state of TN to different medical groups. Why she has is not available. Time to move on again SW. NSJ

I had a fine experience with this doctor. She was caring and knowledgable and did a fine job on my surgery. The staff there are wonderful and sensitive to the needs of patients. I have had nothing but good experiences being at Upper Cumberland Urology

Seeing this young woman is a waste of your money and time. During my one appointment, I saw her for less than ten minutes and had to tell her three times during that ten minutes that I had not had a hysterectomy. It became so obvious that she was not listening to a word I was saying that she made some excuse about how her brain was busy jumping ahead to solve my problem. Also, Dr. Wells spent much of my ten mins. with her bragging about how lucky I was to have her as my doctor. She looked at my urine sample and said it was full of bacteria, however a week later I received an email from the doctor's office that said I had no infection. When I tried to get some clarification from a human on the difference in what Dr. Wells said during my visit and what the test showed...that was when her staff grew condescending with me. Evidently wanting to speak to a human about the discrepancies between what the doctor told me and my test results seemed foolish to the doctor and her staff. Based on Dr. Wells telling me that I didn't have an infection, I made an appointment with a gastroenterologist to find the cause for my back pain...only to be told that my symptoms are classic for kidney infection. Dr. Wells was too busy telling me how great she was to even listen to what I was telling her. If she's the best you can do for an appointment, I suggest you do like me and find a urologist in Nashville.
